  1. Hi, I'm 5 weeks out tomorrow and I can only get 1-2 oz of mushies in. I can get 4 oz Protein shake in at a time. My doctor said this is quite normal at this stage. I've read where some people can get much more in but even at this point my chest starts to feel very tight. I'm getting my Vitamins in most days and am getting better on the liquids. I froze FUZE into ice cubes today and added them to my Water for extra flavor and vitamins. Good luck.

    Just not hungry anymore

It does feel like it takes forever to go down. It is very uncomfortable. I am almost 5 weeks out and it still feels that way.

    very sick!

I had this after having my ball bladder removed. Even the bowel movements were just Water and bile. There is a powder my doc gave me that helped. I'lll see if I can find the name of it. Feel Better!]
  4. I don't know what I weighed when I went into surgery because I wouldn't look at the scale. I looked at a doctor's report from when I started the two-week pre-surgery diet and I've lost 39 lbs. My surgery was 33 days ago. Good luck and remember don't get discouraged if you get to a stall about week 3. I did and it was just my body adjusting. I am already wearing some XL clothes instead of plus sizes, so when you shop for a wedding outfit, buy something that gives and will shrink with you.

    A couple questions...

I was 4 weeks out on Tuesday. I've had headaches twice this week so I focused on drinking more Water. We were told we can take adult tylonol liquid. I hate the Protein shakes too. If I drink even 4 oz it comes back up. I know I'm not getting my protein in. I have one opened now in the fridge and sometimes when I walk into the kitchen I'll take a little sip. I use it like medicine. I still can't get even 1/4 cup of mushies down so I don't know how to get the protein in. I may try to find a Protein Bar that is softer. When can you move to solid foods?
  7. I haven't tried this since surgery, but baked potato chips work to settle my stomach. Perhaps they will work and may be fewer calories.
  8. I am 31 days out and I have pain under my right rib area. It has been hurting on and off since the very beginning, but today it is worse. Has anyone else had this same pain? Thanks.
  9. Thanks and I had my gallbladder removed several years ago; however, this is the same kind of pain I had then. It's confusing. I'm glad you are feeling better.

    Four weeks tomorrow

Hi, I'm 26 days out and my stomach feels weird too. It's almost like a gnawing hungry feeling. I also have burning along my center chest even when I only eat a bite. I can get 1/2 an egg down. Today I tried KFC mashed potatoes and was able to eat 1/2 of a serving so that is a little more than usual. I think what we are feeling may be normal for our situation. A friend who had surgery on the same day I did had crab meat the other day and said it is easy on the pouch. Good luck!

Mixed Signals or Maybe I Don't Understand?

I'm three weeks out and am supposed to be able to start soft foods such as refried Beans today. However, I can still only get a few ounces of liquids down. If I drink more it comes back up like reflux. I think some of us just have smaller stomachs now. I was told mine is the size of a walnut. Unfortunately, I'm at a weight loss stall and I believe it is because I'm getting too few calories. Good luck and let us know what your doc says about being able to eat so little.

    SOOOO Moody........

I'll be three weeks out tomorrow and I am the same way. I am usually easy going, but I find I'm quick to being irritable. I don't let anyone know when I'm feeling this way, but I have a difficult time hiding it. Today the adult step children are coming over and they don't help with the cooking etc. They don't clean up after themselves or their children either and I'm going to have to work overtime to keep myself in check. I usually would accept this for what it is, but today I'm angry before anything even happens (cooking, cleaning, and no eating sucks). I do understand exactly how you feel and hope we both get through this stage of our journey without any "mishaps." I am not, however, moody with everyone. I suspect that the things we are moody about have always been there, but with so much to deal with right now those things are even more taxing. Good luck and I hope your blood work is good.

    Scared! At ER :(

Saying a prayer for you. I'm almost three weeks out and I've worried about blood clots too, but it sounds like you've been quite active. It is my understanding that clots form from inactivity. I hope the doctor will give you good news.

    Am I being unreasonable?

I've lost 30 lbs total and no one has said anything either. They will, though. You know you're losing and that stall will go away and you will lose quickly again! I've not felt depressed yet, but I have cried twice. I seem to be a bit less patient with people.

    Surgery Yesterday

I was sleeved on June 14th and yes, I had diarrhea. The nurse told me that almost everyone does. You'll be feeling better in no time. By my 11th day I was flying to Charleston, SC for vacation. I still can't eat all my Protein, but I feel much better. Each day really does get better.

    Avoiding Protein Shakes

Jackie, I was sleeved the same day as you, and so far I'm only permitted to eat 1/2 egg each day and two Protein Shakes. I'm so tired of shakes too! At what point were you able to eat mushies? I can have them on July 5. Meanwhile, I'm looking for flavoring to add to my Bariatric Choice. I tried mixing the powder in the blender and didn't like it at all. I'd like to try adding a banana but can't have fruit for two more weeks. Good luck with this. You will do great.
  18. I'm on day 11 and am still on protein shakes and broth. We are in Charleston, SC and so far I'm been doing great. I just tell the people I'm with that I'm not really hungry and I order a cup of hot tea when they have their meals. This evening I went to Justine's Kitchen with them and was standing in line to get in this fabulous restaurant. People were telling my travel mates how delicious the home cooking was and how it was worth the wait etc. For some reason I felt like crying but don't know why. I've been doing great until now. I told them I'd walk back to the hotel because I was feeling tired. When I got to my room I just started crying and thinking "What have I done?" I'm really glad I had the sleeve, but need to know how to handle eating out while on vacation and still on liquids. Any advice?

    On vacation and can't eat

Thanks everyone. I ended up ordering room service. I explained the liquid diet and the chef sent up chicken broth (homemade) and peach tea. I love the South! I see another potential problem, though. I've never been much of a shopper, but now I find myself wanting to buy things with the money I saved on not eating out. I'm going to the spa in a few to get my lashes tinted. I talked myself out of the 166 dollar scarf that was so tempting.

    scared and dizzy day 8

Everything turned out fine. I stopped taking my blood pressure meds and haven't had any more dizzy times. My blood pressure is great too. I'm actually on vacation at the beach now. Each day gets better. Thanks, everyone.
  21. Hi, Today is day 8 of my surgery. I'm home alone and was feeling great until a few minutes ago. I became very dizzy and it won't go away. I have been pushing my liquids this morning to make up for a couple of days where I don't think I got enough. I tried to take my blood pressure with a wrist-type BP monitor and it kept giving me an error reading. Should I go to the ER?
  22. gonnagetthere

    Is this normal?

You are doing great! It still takes me a couple of hours to get 16 oz down. Each day gets better, though.
