It's all about protien baby! I've been neglecting my protien count whilst counting calories like a mad woman and my hair is falling out as well. Back to protien for me! I'm over a year out, so it can happen to anyone who's not getting enough protien

The rules are in place because during the surgery, the band is stitched into place with the stomach. Liquids don't take much work from the stomach so it's not churning and moving, so the stitches have time to heal and the stomach can heal into place. All the churning and moving might keep that from happening well. I say all of the above because maybe if you know the REASON for the rules, it will help you follow them? Good luck

That's great! I know you've mentioned wanting to do that for quite a while. Very cool!

Seems like a good view to obscure, lol. That's really neat! I probably would not have thought of that, lol. Those flowers are great!

Congratulations!! Hope the other stuff on the "half empty" side starts treating you better!

OH has a band board, but they really don't advertise it enough. I haven't read the magazine, but if you are ANYWHERE other than the lapband board, EVERYTHING is bypass.

Woo! I've tightened mine already, and I can't wait to do it again. It's not a link watch, it's a band watch with holes like a belt. tighter tighter!! Congratulations!!

If you could go back in time and give yourself advice after the op, what would it be?

I would tell myself this thing wasn't magic. I ate a bunch of crap once I was back on solids, and even though I was still eating less of it, it was still crap. Oh, and at 14 months out I've gotten lax on my protien, so guess what??? I'm losing hair!! I need to PAY ATTENTION!! So there. -
It's going to be really hard to find something at school worth eating while you are trying to lose weight. Do they have salads available to you? That would be best. I remember being in school having Arby's Sandwiches, Taco Bell, Ice Cream, Burgers and other junk available, with not much on the healthy side. You might consider throwing a protien barin your bag every day and buying salad for lunch and having that. I dont' follow any specific 'program', but I count calories and have to stay below 1300 to lose (I'm 23).

I have a few from the last couple of weeks, that I'm just gonna put together The first one is that I found my class ring about a week and a half ago, and it fits. I graduated in 99, and quit wearing the ring a few years later when it was more comfortable on my pinky. Now it fits, and there's even just the slightest amount of extra room. I'm always adjusting it because it goes crooked, but I'm ok with that . I didn't even realize that this was an NSV until like 3 days later, lol. The 2nd one is that I bought 2 pairs of jeans the other night. One of them was size 16 from the plus size section (everything in that section is stretch. I used to be glad, but now it irritates me). The other pair of pants is size 17, non-stretch from the Juniors Department! The 17's are actually tighter than the 16s, but I was just happy to get something from the juniors department at all, lol. And THEN! Last night I took a bath. I hadn't actually taken a bath in a while (still shower tho ), and it occured to me that I could sit in the bath and not be touching EITHER SIDE of the tub with my body! Yay! I've been through some frustrating times, and some times where I just resigned myself to the idea that I'd lost some weight, but I was always going to be bigger than average, but at least I'd stay healthy... but I'm getting back into the groove where I feel like this is going to work for me again, and I'm working it right as well.

Wow, congrats!!!!!!!!

Most recently was when my boyfriend scared me while I was in the shower. I was just rinsing my hair, so I had my eyes closed, and just as I finished he banged on the door and said "oogy boogy boogy!!!!" Yup, I screamed. And then I got him all wet.

I think you'd only really have a problem with melted cheese if you swallowed a big hunk of it all at once. That's the only time that I have an issue with it, is if I take too big a bite and swallow too much. There are a few other things that have that same texture issue. You really are just gonna have to see what you can tolerate. I've learned that I can tolerate one bite of anything, and if I pay attention to that one bite, I can tell what will happen if I keep going.

Hopefully the unfill will give you some relief to tide you over until your barium swallow. I'll pray also that everything is well!

I really really don't recommend setting a goal of 100 lbs lost in a year. I tried to set that goal for myself and lost 50 in my first year and got really upset over it. By the time I got to my year mark, I was "over myself" knowing that I wasn't going to hit it, and forgiving myself for making unreasonable requests of myself. It CAN be done, and it IS done, but I really wouldn't suggest making a goal of it... at least not until you have some idea of what your weight loss pattern is like.

I also am on the darn scale every day. Today it was up 2 lbs. I know that for me, when I'm "at" a certain weight, that really means that I bounce around a few lbs until I start losing again, so anywhere from 225 to 228 is still 225 in my book, lol. I think it's alright to weigh every day as long as you don't let it get you down if the scale doesn't do what you want, you know? Feel better

Congratulations to both of you!!!! -
measure it with pictures!!!!!! Do you have any preop pictures? Take another one and compare them. It's so wierd, but I didn't see the difference in the mirror for a LONG time, but pictures told me everything! Congrats!

What do you miss most from pre band days?
Marimaru replied to mercedes's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sometimes I wish I could have a big hamburger with the bun, but to be honest, when I have a bit hamburger in front of me, I really don't want the whole thing. Usually I cut it in half, put half away, eat most of the other half, and am happy to have one or two bites with the bun, but don't much want the rest. There are some breads I like and would love to have, but I don't miss them enough to say I regret anything. Especially after getting new jeans last night.. one pair of 16's from the "plus size" section and one pair of 17's from the JUNIORS section!! -
Could be the fill from monday 'kicking in', or it could be the weather, or it could just be the STRESS from the impending hurricane. Stress really does it for me.

Marimaru replied to alatina's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
woo! got my 16's too -
OMG you just reminded me of a story. I went to Vegas for my sister's 21st birthday with her and my mom and we went to the Piano Bar that is in Harrahs. Before the dueling pianos there was karaoke, and there was this guy there, he must have been 75 or 80, and he sang "Play that Funky Music White Boy", and a song by the Bee Gee's whos name I don't remember. It was so funny! He wasn't half bad either!

Warning ? multiple personalities, crappy clich?s and more about sMother (Long)

I have done the same thing way too many times. I have a great day, and then blow it with night time Snacks. I have to be very strict if I want to lose weight. Not so strict if I just care to maintain. I have a wide calorie range for "maintenance" and a tight one for "lose weight". Last night I ate dinner and not 30 minutes later found myself scrounging the kitchen. Nothing sounded good because I wasn't "hungry" but I wanted to eat all of it. I made myself a pot of coffee and nearly drank the whole thing. Then I couldn't sleep when I went to bed (gotta get me some decaf), but I didn't eat darnit! Unfortunately being on the computer at night doesn't keep me from eating. I can type and munch perfectly well, lol. I try to have something to fidget with when the TV is on so that I don't feel like I should be eating something (so many YEARS of bad habits to break). We just have to do our best! -
I read about those, and I'm sure they work about as well as everything else that I tried. I tried one thing that didn't advertise being 'bypass in a bottle' but the idea was the same. Take this before you eat, and it will expand taking up room in your stomach and you wont eat as much. We can see how well that worked, lol. Banded and very happy here

Hopefully it's a fun rollercoaster
