Michelle, I don't know much about photographers, but be careful leaving your dress so last minute. My sister had to order hers no less than 6 months in advance, and as a bridesmaid I had to order my dress in December as a rush order for it to be there in March for an April wedding! I find it likely that you wont do the super designer dress like my sister did, but even still, if you've decided on a style, call around to see how far in advance you need to order it. Dresses can be altered slightly bigger, but you can just about always alter a dress so that it's smaller.

When I asked my doc what I should take for a headache after surgery he said to take tylenol or to drink a cup of coffee. I did find for a few months after surgery that it bothered my stomach when it was empty, so I cut it with milk some, but I don't have that issue anymore.

Band Complications or just illness??
Marimaru replied to ted12345's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Glad you are feeling better! We have Spagettios here -
Joyce, Lots of people have problems with eating in the morning. Alot of us resort to protien shakes or some other kind of liquid breakfast. Exersize is always good, lots of people have luck counting calories. For me personally, my calories are always fine, if I don't snack during the day. If I stick to eating 3 or 4 times a day, I don't have to count calories to know I'm doing ok.

Rabbits and Turtles United New Year Challenge
Marimaru replied to It's me-Debbydo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Alrighty, Not weight change this week. NSVs: 1. I bought a NON STRETCH pair of Jeans from the Jr's department in a size 16 and they fit perfectly. No "w" either! 2. I wear the smallest size shirt that Torrid sells. I bought a really cute shirt from there the other day in a "0" (probably a 16/18?). It 'fits' instead of being baggy, which is also kind of an NSV because I usually don't wear things that 'fit' because some how if your shirt doesn't hug your fat rolls, other people don't know they are there or something, LOL. -
Feeling a Little Down....I Just Dont Understand
Marimaru replied to j_war06's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm able to take Nyquil liquid caps, and I'm decently tight with my band. Jodie, you might talk to your doctor about taking pills, you should be able to take some. My back never bothered me before I started losing weight, and now it bothers me decently often. Someone explained to me that it's the same kind of thing a pregnant woman goes through, only backwards; your body supports you in a certain fashion and sets how you balance yourself, but when your weight changes, it has to readjust that, hence the pain. I find it highly likely that you got alot of relief by losing weight, but now your body has readjusted some and therefore you are back in pain. You'll start dropping more weight again and probably feel better again soon. I also second the question someone asked about whether it was your time of the month. I can jump a good 4 or 5 lbs within that time frame. Feel better -
Kim, I appreciate your advice. I'm doing the best that I can to put out the little fires that are started, but this one is a bit difficult. It's really all about dad and his refusal to be a part of it even though she wants him to. She doesn't want to elope, she wants the big wedding with all the pieces, so that's what she's going to get. What really gets me the most about the whole thing is that I know that I'm not going to have this much trouble getting help from him, and our youngest sister's wedding he'll pay for altogether whenever it comes up. I don't understand why he's like this with her. So frustrating! I think it will end up that he's invited, not part of the wedding, gets his feelings hurt and we go from there...

This is kind of a long story, but I'm looking for an outside opinion for my sister. Lots of us here seem to have crazy families, so I thought maybe you guys would have some good ideas. History: Parents are divorced, mom has a boyfriend (AJ), who is basically our stepdad, but they refuse to get married (they both had bad divorces). Sami (my sister) is getting married in April, and her and Jayson (her fiance) send money to mom to put toward the wedding (for safe keeping). Mom and AJ have pretty much paid for everything other than the money Sami has sent. Dad hasn't participated in the wedding planning at all (financially or otherwise). Problem: Sami wants dad in the wedding because he's our dad, but doesn't want him in the wedding if he isn't going to participate he doesn't get to participate. Basically 'you don't get to look like the good dad without BEING the good dad'. Also, bitter divorcee mom would be very upset to pay for the wedding and have dad act like he'd been a part of it the whole time (especially since they are going to give Sami and Jayson all the money they put toward the wedding as a gift). Sam's afraid to flat out ask dad whether he's going to be a part of the wedding (before and during the ceremony) because money is a horribly touchy subject with him (We are nasty selfish b@#$%es because we were curious whether we had inheritance from our grandfather and looked into it and he didn't talk to us for 3 months). I told her it was her wedding and she needed to do what she wasn't going to regret in the future (gee I wish dad had been there, gee I wish I hadn't had him in the wedding). Unfortunately either decision is going to really irritate the other parent. He's in the wedding, mom is peeved, he's not in the wedding, he's upset. I know this is way off topic, but I don't think that I'm much help to her right now because I'm not very fond of the man at the moment so I thought I'd see what outside parties would say.

Rabbits and Turtles United New Year Challenge

If someone wants one, I can draw something as a prize (check the art thread for my stuff). -
He knows about the wedding, he was told right after they got engaged. When he was asked before if he'd be participating he said "Well, maybe I think I can do $1000" but then he hasn't moved forward with that or mentioned it again after that. He is going to be invited, the struggle is just whether or not he's "in" the wedding. I think she's firmly decided that if he doesn't participate, he's not "in" the wedding. I just don't know if she's decided whether to ask him flat out what he's going to do.

Crystal, I live your new avatar as well!! I don't know what to tell you about the lbs... prolly water some how but I'm sure that doesn't help much. I know they'll get you all figured out, it's just going to take some time (which I know you hate). Let us know if we can do something to cheer you up!

Oh My Goodness...I got the job on the Cruise
Marimaru replied to "with the band"'s topic in The Lounge
Woo!!! Congrats!! -
This bugs me sometimes, but not all the time. I'd recommend the lower rise jeans too, but they are harder to find in the larger sizes. I found my first pair in a size 18, but the manufacturers might be more on the ball with stuff like this now.

Jessiebear's complete list of NSVs...
Marimaru replied to Jessiebear's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Kids always tell the truth about stuff like that. It makes their compliments more real sometimes, you know? Those are great NSV's! -
Penni, I can't imagine the emotions you are feeling right now. We've all had the bad diet-hating emotions before, but I'm sure for you right now it's even worse. I hope you feel better soon!

Problems with Sit-Ups or Crunches?
Marimaru replied to HeatherGurl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was sore when I first started working out. I think that thew newly healed muscles around the port and where the incisions are just need to get used to your full range of movement again, you know? -
That's fantastic!! I remember when it occurred to me that I'd done that too. It's a trip!

Thanks for the input guys. I meant to put into my original post that our Grandfather is walking her down the isle. She decided that a while ago. She isn't sure what she wants to do at this point. I think I need to tell her again to do what she wants to do for herself, just like you guys said. We both have issues trying to please everyone around us.

Band Mystery: Same fill amount...no restriction?? Theories?
Marimaru replied to jdinsc's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It wasn't a barium swallow that showed the leak. That mostly just shows band placement. There's a solution they will fill the band with that is called contrast solution that shows up in the flouro (like barium, but it's different and you don't swallow it). My friend said that when they injected it she saw in on the flouro screen just going all over the place (it's inert like saline I guess). -
What do you do to satisfy your "head hunger"?
Marimaru replied to Firecallie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When I get it and it's not that bad I just try and do something to take my mind off of it. If my mind wont stray like I want it too I make a pot of coffee and suck it down. (My doctor has no issues with coffee). -
What kind of information are you looking for? inamed.com is the website for the company that makes the bands used in the US. There's alot of information there. Probably you should get a set of your surgeon's rules (if you've chosen one) so you know what kind of things you have to do/not do. Other than that, just hang around. There's not much candy coating on this board, so you'll get the best of the best and the worst of the worst from the folks around here.

Three Good Deals Today.....A Great Way to Start the New Year....
Marimaru replied to "with the band"'s topic in The Lounge
Wow that's fantastic! I'm in a different art vein than you, but looking to start getting stuff out there freelance style, and I can just imagine that you have to be almost giddy with all this stuff going on! -
Band Mystery: Same fill amount...no restriction?? Theories?
Marimaru replied to jdinsc's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
She is going in to surgery tomorrow to have it fixed. I'm not sure if he's replacing the whole tube or just gonna snip off the poked part and reattach the port or what. She just got a fill one day and messaged me and said "How is it I feel looser than before??". What's really whacked is that her doctor's staff kept giving her fills when she kept saying she didn't have restriction and she had to demand a leak test to get one. Fortunately the doc admitted that it was totally a problem on the part of his staff, and squeezed her in as fast as he could (she found out probably the day before you posted this thread). -
Has being overweight made you stronger?
Marimaru replied to maudeispam's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've noticed this about myself too. I'm not sure it has anything to do with age, as I'm 23, but just what you are willing to subject yourself to. Or maybe it's situational, there's been a few things recently in my life that have made me even choosier about the people I'm willing to invest my time in.
