Thanks Jack. Dr. Patterson's office wont take patients who were banded in Mexico for the most part. I've left a message for Dr. Fitzpatrick. I figure she can at least give me an unfill while I search for a doctor with flouro and whatnot. A "fill center" is supposedly opening in Salem, but when I lived in Cali there was one "coming soon" in Torrance for almost 3 years, so I'm not holding my breath.

Just about any of the diet pills are like that, along with the new WW "don't diet" commercial...

Pasta and bread are pretty tricky. Some people have no issues with them, some people always have issues with them, and then there's people like me who can't really tell on any given day what is going to give them trouble... Also on the list is fibrous veggies like celery and asparagus, eggs (whites are usually ok, yolks can give me trouble), cold cereal (I can't eat it fast enough for it not to go soggy... I usually have one cup with my cereal and another with my milk and I just pour in a little cereal at a time).

The night before my surgery I burst into tears and cried for like 30 minutes or more for what felt like no good reason. I was so excited I didn't really feel nervous, but I think deep down inside I was and my body just had to release it somehow. Just do your best to relax...

Thinking about having the Lap Band surgery...
Marimaru replied to TRN87's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There are 2 forums here you should probably check out, 1 is the complications forum, and the 2nd is a forum for people who've had to have their bands removed. You might check those out for information. -
The food you eat starts going through the band immediately. The band's job is to slow it down, so it takes 3 to 5 hours for that food to pass through, it doesn't hold the food in the pouch for that amount of time. Hope that helps.

Regarding sex after a little weight loss...
Marimaru replied to neveragain's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't think this has affected my sex drive, but from the girl side perspective, I kind of know where you are coming from. I've been on birth control for almost 10 years now, and I don't have any kids, so it's doing it's job. I'm married, and we plan to have kids, just not yet. Well, both of my younger sisters were on birth control when they got pregnant (within 3 months of eachother too). So now, if my period doesn't start on Wednesday of the week it's supposed to, I start to seriously freak out, even though historically it'll start any time between Wednesday and Sunday. I know I'm paranoid because my sisters got pregnant when they were on birth control... but the other side of that coin is wondering how much trouble I'll have when I DO want to get pregnant! Other than being sure you are using protection (like use a condom even if she says she's on birth control) and being with someone you can trust, I'm not sure what to say to help with your anxiety... -
My snoring has gone. My hubby has put on a little weight and his snoring is terrible. I'm hoping that he'll eventually take off that weight so I can sleep! lol
-
I've never had an unfill for my period, but I definitely get tighter.

If you have gone through insurance, file a complaint with them. It might not actually get anything changed, but the "front desk" staff that are screwing with you will have to deal with it and waste an hour of their time answering to it.

You could make things like deviled eggs (lite mayo). My mom always did that on easter with the eggs we'd colored. And have veggie sticks like carrots and celery n' stuff like that. You know, rabbit food

If my husband and I don't have sex in more than 3 or 4 days, I make sure to initiate, because we've had the "You never initiate" conversation, and I told him I'd make a point of it if he didn't. Even if I'm not in the mood particularly, we can have at least a quickie before bed.

When I found myself that angry I went on anti-depressants for the first time. I was on Paxil, which worked pretty well. Then I went off of that (thinking I was doing ok), and then all of the sudden everything made me cry. I started on wellbutrin, and then also got some counseling that I had been putting off, heh. The wellbutrin I still take, because if I don't, I get weepy of stupid stuffs.

For me, I gained some weight after my wedding in June. I think I just kind of let go all together. Anyway, one day I just decided I'd had enough, and opened up my fit day and started counting calories. I figured it was as good a place to start as any.

Anybody feel like this is JUST NOT WORKING for them?
Marimaru replied to Sparkette's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think that checking for a leak is a very good idea. That was the first thought in my mind when you said that you had restriction the first day, and then none -
Wheetsin, hopefully you had a good birthday (and didn't eat too many Reeses pieces). My husband tries sometimes, but usually he wants me to pick my gift. My birthday is in March, but my family was already bugging me for a list, so I sent one, and he's asked what I want from HIM separate from my list. That list was a pain in the ass, and it's full of little trinkety things because I can't think of anything major I want! Blarg.

Odd as it may sound, I've also heard (and experienced) that having sex can increase your sex drive. Waiting until you are "in the mood" may not be the right answer, because you might never "feel" in the mood, but you might enjoy yourself once you get started. My husband and I also have a 'porn and toy' collection. We don't use them all the time, but sometimes when we want to "make a night of it".
-
My kid has "X" problem does not equal "I have more rights than you do" or another way of saying it "I'm specialer than you". I think you were well within your rights to use that room (I think a couple with one child is well within their rights to use the "family" room). I think you were very gracious, and I might not have been so nice!

Family tells me what to eat and do!!!
Marimaru replied to cosmo24's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
"I appreciate that you are doing this because you care for me, but I am following my doctors orders, and you are driving me nuts". Alternately, start bugging them equally about something else. When they get on you for it, tell them that you'll knock it off if they will. Or when your sister asks if you should be eating something say "Yes, this is fine, should you be eating that??" heh -
I just look in the mirror and see whether I feel comfortable. Unfortunately this often depends on my mood and level of confidence for the day, so I don't often throw things away unless I note that I just haven't worn it in forever. If something is too tight, then my 'muffin top' bugs me, or I don't like how it pinches my bat wings or something. If it's too big I think I just look "frumpy". For pants, I REFUSE to lay down on the bed to zip them up! And yes, if I can pull them down without unbuttoning or unzipping, I start thinking about getting the next size down.

Does anyone else feel like this....
Marimaru replied to JustCallMeKelly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The band is about volume, so we still have to do the work to choose WHAT we eat, and I agree with Jachut that the band is going to be more about helping with maintaining than with actual weight loss. (I'm counting calories, I know where you're coming from). -
Well, I fall into the range of people that should be getting the full rebate, but I think that has a lot to with my age, because I am working on my career and just need to work my way up... But I completely agree with what has been said here. I agree that it should be a relatively 'all or nothing' policy... interest on loans was mentioned, you can either claim it, or not, true for everyone, period. And that it should be a percentage based on your income, if you make more, you'll pay more, but in $, not in %. I also don't get why people who aren't paying taxes would get a 'rebate'.

This is important. My sister and her husband haven't figured this out AT ALL. If they get into a fight one night, the whole office knows about it the next day, whether they say anything or not. She's either snappy with him, or they aren't speaking with each other at all. And then there's the fights they do have at the office. They go into the kitchen area, but you can still hear them anyway. Yikes.
