Would paying for someone else's band be offensive?

My mom paid for my surgery, and while she's not MO, I hope one day there is something big I can do for her like this. If it were me, I would just sit her down (at home, not at a restaurant, because I'm a cry baby) and just tell her something to the effect that, she'd expressed an interest in it, and that I want her around for a good long time, and I would happy to do this as a way to hopefully ensure that was going to happen. After getting your feelings out, it's kind of up to her. It's a great gift to receive when it's something you really want, and you don't think there is any way you will ever get it, I can tell you that much.

Depressed, I am hungry every 2 hours!!

whatcha eatin'? That might matter more than the amount you are eating. Let us know?
  3. Proud of you or not, he had no right to break the trust that you gave him. I'd be as mad as you are (I'm having my own fatherly issues centered around trust, so I may be biased, lol). In my opinion, I'm not sure you need to 'get over it'. He needs to understand WHY what he did was not right, no matter what his reasons were..

    Phen Fen and Emotional Eating

I almost wish it was still around. I never took it before, but I wouldn't mind having it now to lose the weight fast and then have my band to help me keep it off. lol...

    Willpower

It really depends on the source of your hunger. If your hunger is caused by your stomach not sending the right signals to the brain, this may very well do it for you. The band will rest near the vagus nerve (the one that sends those signals) and it should be triggered more easily. If you are 'hungry' because your head says so, then it's likely you will suffer from the same problem, you just wont be able to eat as much at once (but that wont really stop you from grazing throughout the day). Have you had this conversation with your doctor to see what he/she says?

    Suggestions for med-id bracelet

I bought a plane medic alert bracelet, and I wear it with the medic alert tag on the inside of my wrist, and I've never had anyone ask me about it. Although, I have heard that if your bracelet is too charmy or pretty, the EMT or ER doc could think it was regular jewelry and miss it, so be careful with those. I put one charm on the band of my bracelet just for the heck of it, but that's it.

    1 year Bandivarsary

Happy Bandiversary! Your NSV's are great!
  10. I would get a car service, if you can't get a friend to pick you up or anything. Or maybe there's a hotel near by where you can stay a night, in which case, they'll have a shuttle service or something. The hospital will watch your things, and they'll probably be with you in your room when you get there. Yes, you are overcomplicating this.

I see the Endo tomorrow-- send love!

I hate when doctors blow stuff off. Your problem is that you are fat, and you wouldn't have problems if you weren't fat. How stupid. Just like last week I went to the doctor for an eye problem and he asked if I wore contact lenses and when I said yes he immediately said "They are probably just dry from the contacts", when in reality I have an infection that I should have been given drops for (and now have, thanks to the eye doctor). At least he ordered your tests. That is at least a step in the right direction. Knowing that this has been a high stress issue for you, I think it's probably good that you are thinking about taking a medical leave from school. It'll give you the time you need to schedule appointments as close together as you can and get this taken care of ASAP! Keep us posted, please!

So I am not so crazy after all

What's the test you had that told her it was full of sludge? I've had some pain in that area of my body, a burning like you describe sometimes, but it's not gotten to the point where I feel that I need to go to the ER, but really, I'd rather avoid it getting that far if I know what the problem is. I did have an ultrasound, and there were no stones. Someone else on the board gave me the name of a test I'm going to try and have done, but I thought I'd collect more info, since you mentioned it . Glad that you got someone to listen to your problem. I really hate that some doctors don't listen to people. Hope you feel better after that gets taken care of!
  13. Alright. This has NOTHING to do with banding whatsoever, but there are so many different types of people here, I KNOW I can get some good perspective on this. History: At the end of November I moved to a new apartment. At the same time, another person moved next door to me. Her and her roommate (sister/friend, dunno) have 3 small children. I think they are all hers, but I'm not 100% sure. A LOT of noise comes from this place. I have called the police on a few occassions to deal with it. Examples: Stereo so loud it sounded like the speakers were in MY living room, louder than I would ever play them if they were. Kids with the TV on so loud I can understand the words through the wall, and them bouncin' and bangin' around at 11:30 at night. I tried to knock on the door once, but she couldn't hear me through the noise. Something about a maglite banging on the door got her attention tho. I've called on her 4 times I think. Last night she confronted us and asked that we knock on the door when her kids were being loud, which my fiancee agreed to do, but in her very next breath she threatened to have her 'baby daddy' come kick our asses. I told her that THAT was the very reason I call the police instead of dealing with her; she's always threatening to kick someone's ass. Later last night, her kids were making noise, but we hadn't complained. She came upstairs to the kids room (right next to ours) and found food in there, and evidently they are not allowed to eat in their room. She started screaming at them about it "m***** f*****" this and "f'in get this sh*t out of here, or I'll beat the sh*t out of you!". She went on for about 10 minutes, and I can't be sure, but I think she spanked them. Now, I've never been against spanking, my mom did it to me (though I don't know if I'll do it when I have kids), but considering I could hear it through a WALL, I'm a bit concerned about how hard she might have been hitting them (again, not 100% sure about this part). She yells at them like this many times a week, though I've never heard what I thought sounded like hitting before. Dilema: I really want to call Child Protective Services and get these kids to a safe environment. But, I KNOW she is going to know that a) the landlord is asking her to leave because of my complaints (even though he's had other issues with her) and that I called CPS if they knock on her door. I have no idea if her threat to have her kids' dad come harm us was real or not, and I have no idea what other friends she has, or what she is capable of. Before her, I'd never called the cops on anyone, and I'm usually a quiet person who leaves the other tenants and the landlord alone, so now I kind of feel like I'm going too far... but I feel scared for her kids... whilst being a bit afraid for myself... Any thoughts are appreciated. I know there are varying opinions on all aspects of this, and I am open to all of them. I wanted to sit on this decision for a couple of days, but my fiancee makes a good point that if we don't hear anything else, we wont call, even though more could be going on.
  14. Jenna, I would have someone watch your son and hit a hotel for the night. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, but if you plan it in advance, it might be a little easier to have the right people in the right places at the right time!

Morality VS Self Preservation (Neighbor issues)

Well, I know that some sort of father figure is in the picture, because he was there this weekend. She doesn't yell at them when he is home, but he doesn't live there. We have month to month leases here, so my landlord getting her out of there wont be a problem, fortunately. Since there's no standing lease, he doesn't even really have to give a reason that he wants her to leave. I did call CPS today though. They took my information and my statement, and say they will be stopping by to check up on the kids. I'm kind of not sure why I hesitated before, but I'm glad I called.
  16. You can order the Water sensations online as well. Those drinks probably are not carbonated, but there may be something in them that bothers you anyway..

    Experience with Tijuana Fills

When would you be going in to be trying to leave at 3pm? In my experience (with Dr. Kuri), a 1pm appointment can have me out of there at 2, or out of there at 3:30...

    What do husbands think

I'd like to hear the reverse; what do guy's wives things when you tell them you are going for surgery?? I'm curious to know if our 'better halves' react differently. So come on banded gentlemen, share!

    Food was my friend

Pansy, The band will help with the AMOUNT of eating you do when you eat from emotions, but not that you DO eat from emotions. I've found that I don't eat so much from emotions, but from habit (plop in front of the computer >> want to eat, plop in front of the TV >> want to eat, bored >> want to eat)... so I've had to work at NOT eating during these times, or making sure it's low cal, like veggies or salad.

    How much Protein???

50 to 60 grams of protien is usually what is the norm for women (which seems to be the majority of this board). I guess we'll have to see what some of the guys say!

    Slow Losers - Unite!

Cathy, I'm about where you are; not exersizing much because I feel like it's not doing any good, so why bother. Vinequeen is the advocate for getting to a doctor to determine whether we have any metabolic issues that keep us from losing weight. I have not done this yet, but definately need to. Ladyfox; how much have you lost and when were you banded?
