What kind of scale do you have? Is it accurate?
Marimaru replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The think about the body fat scales is that they depend on you being hydrated, and if you hydration levels are different when you weigh, that can change it. I don't know how it works exactly.. -
Okay, I love reading NSV's, and SV's, and just cool stuff like that. What do you want to do? What have you done? Weight related, not weight related, just cool stuff. I'm 5 lbs from my halfway point. Started at 280, halfway will be 210, goal is 140 (ish, but for the sake of numbers, it's 140). I am Obese, no longer morbidly obese, and down from severely obese (or the other way around, I don't remember). I am a graphic designer. I always wanted to do something with art, but didn't know what. I started as a QA person for my mom's consulting agency, and then one time our client needed banners "ASAP", so I threw something together. 3 years later, I do all of their graphics exclusively. It probably would not hurt me to go back to school for some things, but I'm still pretty happy. I want to get my belly button pierced. I got it pierced before, but it never healed right because of my belly rolls and the skin touching n' stuff. I want to wear a wetsuit and not feel like a whale!! But seriously, just to be out of the "X" sizes of wetsuits would be good. I never want to look at the weight requirements for anything ever again! I know there's more, I'll have to add later. What do you want to do? What have you done? What DON'T you want to do ever again?!

I love it when I wake up and find that my cat is on my pillow curled around my head.

Whenever my fiance wants to have sex he says "can we have some stuff tonight?" When he says "Wanna play some games?" it means "Want to play X game we've been working on?" (Currently WOW, lol). the words dork and nerd are common in our house. Jerk sometimes too. Other than that, I guess we don't have much else. :cake:

K@t, I'm the same way. Whenever my family asks me to do anything, if I don't jump on it right away, they get insulted just because I've always done it, lol. The last place I worked at, was a decently large company, ~100 employees, and basically, they paid me for the time off, minus what I was paid by the court. My current place of work is my moms 6 employee company, and it's basically the same. You should have your husband get their written jury duty policy from his boss. That way, he can at least make sure he's not just getting screwed because they know he'll do it. In a small company jury duty isn't something that comes up alot, and the 'policy' might not be on anyone's mind so much as what's convenient at the time. We didn't even have a policy until someone was called here... of course, we're a young company...

Lisa, frosting is the DEVIL. Nothing should have 140 calories for a tablespoon or whatever... but those frozen cookie things sure sound good... lol I thought it was ku man too.... eesh. >.<

For me, yogurt can be a good breakfast, because it fills me up for a long time, but if you find that you are hunger a couple of hours later, it might not be a good breakfast for you. Other than that, I agree with everything that Sue said, lol. My dad tells me that when you start working out, you should give it 6 to 12 WEEKS for things to settle in and get moving the way you want it too. I didn't like that. I want to see results NOW!! Anyway, keep it up, and if you find yourself hungrier than you think you should be, check in for another fill. :cake:

If you dare to try eggs again, try hard boiled and toss the yolk. Other than that, I can't really top what leatha said. Sometimes shrimps give me trouble.. They are too dense, or... something. If you keep having trouble, go back to your doc and get a little taken out. :cake:
-
I would say room tempurature Water, or nice hot tea. If it keeps up, keep bugging your doctor and make him look at you.

Welcome all! WyldVelia, keep an eye on that scale. You're new out yet, and once you get proper restriction (not too loose, but not TOO TIGHT), you may be a rabbit yet! :cake:
-
WyldVelia, I was having trouble with hard boiled eggs, egg salad, etc, until I threw the yolk out. I can eat egg whites, with no problem. (If you try this, go slow, and don't beat me up if it doesn't work for you!). You mentioned the chicken; for me, if chicken is dry, it doesn't matter how lubed up it is with sauce. Also, I made some really moist cornish game hens a few weeks ago, but I think the meat was too dense or something. Even with sauce, teeny tiny bites, no go. Just a warning. :cake:

Honestly, my only answer to this is to either be out doing something, be in the bathtub, or be prepared with lots of low calorie food. My freezer is full of frozen veggies, I have jello cups in the fridge, I have lots of makin's for egg drop soup (chicken broth, 25 cals per can, egg 75 cals, maybe a little corn starch), etc. That way, if I end up going nuts in the evening, it was lots of low cal stuff, instead of lots of low cal stuff on top of a high calorie meal. (Or lots of high cal stuff). I totally "went nuts" the other day, but still only hit 2000... and while I wanted to smack myself upside the head for it, it's really not THAT bad.

I tried one of those self heating coffee cans. They weren't bad at all. We order coffee from a roaster near San Fransisco. He literally roasts the Beans, bags 'em up and ships them to me overnight. When a box of that arrives at the office, the whole place smells like coffee before we ever open it up. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I don't think once a week is anything to worry about. I also try and get things where they only calories is the milk, AND I make a meal out of it, so usually it fits into my calories. The thick stuff like the frapps sits for a while and takes me forever to drink, so it's all good to me. :cake:

Someone ask me how my Spin class was...

Great job!!!! wow! -
willbethin; Yes, if we did these things without the band we would lose weight. I've tried 1200 calorie diets more times than I can count. The entire time I'm starving and miserable. Now that I have the band, 1200 to 1400 calories is plenty to get me through the day, and usually with enough room for a snack or a treat, and I don't feel deprived at all. The band is ONLY about restricting the amount of food we can eat. We still have to get up off our butts and exersize, and make sure that we aren't eating crap all day. For me this is good. If I'd had a WLS where the pounds melted off effortlessly, I would never have learned anything, and then if it had to be reversed, or quit being effective, I'd gain all the weight back I'm sure. The band keeps me accountable for what I do, and that's good for me.
-
More often than not, it's the INSURANCE that wants you to do the six month diet plan, not the doctors. The doctor will probably have you on a preop diet, but that's only a few weeks before surgery. :cake:
-
Wow, I haven't received anything about a survey, but based only on what I've read in this thread, I don't think they should charge for that stuff... A band is $3000 by itself, it wouldn't kill them to throw $50 to $100 worth of stuff in with it....

Plane Tickets- did you have to buy two
Marimaru replied to sarabluebell's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My highest was 280, and I never had to buy 2 tickets. I think that there are a number of folks on here who haven't had to. You may want a seat belt extender though. You can quietly ask the attendant to bring you one. I am more comfortable in an aisle seat but mostly because I feel like I stretch my legs out a little more (although that may be entirely mental). Firstclass of course has bigger seats. Economy Plus, or business class or whatever doesn't usually have bigger seats, just more space between them. -
Angie; the "lounge" section of LBT is for other questions. Besides, we have alot of the same types of issues, even if they aren't related to the band.... I've never had an IUD, but most of them don't have hormones, so I don't know how they'd help with bleeding. Of course, there's a good number of people here who've used it and had good success it seems. Do you still want to have kids in the future? If not, there's a procedure galled an oblation (that is probably not spelled right), where they kind of burn out the inner lining of the uterus, but you get to keep all the parts. You are supposed to have very light periods after this.

Basically, it'll last until whatever is in the way, isn't in the way anymore. In my case, sometimes sliming will push through whatever is there. Sometimes I slime for a while, and then EVENTUALLY PB and the problem is solved. SOMETIMES I will take a tiny sip of something carbonated, and somehow the bubbles work their way around whatever is there and help it move. I'm not a doctor, I have no medical training, but this is something I do, that might help. (I also wasn't told to stay away from diet sodas, so it depends on your doctor). Some people have papaya enzyme tablets that they chew, and some people use meat tenderizer. Good luck!

That really sucks. If your port is twisted (which I assume he meant when he said your band was twisted), that's an easy out patient surgery to adjust it, and then you might have an easier time getting fills. Alternately, you might consider seeing if someone else who is more intuned to you could do your fills. *hugs*

My cat would murder me in my sleep for either of those pictures if they were done to her. I also like good smelling candles. Especially when they surround a hot bubbly bath.

Hehe, other than being a bit embarrassing, that's awesome!
