As long as she can eat as much food as she needs to for her and the baby, she should be fine. If she is very tight at all, I would recommend having at least a little taken out, as Water retension can reak havok with restriction.

Well, I'm on day one. The soup is good, but I think I'll season it differently next time. I think I'll also buy pre-sliced carrots, LOL. I also think I am going to blend up the tomatoes so they aren't in the big chunks the stewed tomatoes come in. I did white boiling onions instead of green onions. Where do you guys get those other onions you talk about? The Vidalia Onions? I didn't see them at my grocery store. I haven't even been all that hungry today. I had some orange juice for breakfast and am just now having my first bowl of soup for lunch. I'm so excited to break out of my plateau. I think the benefit of diets like this will really work for us, because I know for many of us, if we have restriction, when we aren't losing, we're not gaining either, so when we get off the 'diet' we have a good chance to keep any weight off that we lost.

melted cheese! What can I do with it!
Marimaru replied to sunsett's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You could shred it and sprinkle it onto stuff? -
Has anyone cooked this soup in a crockpot? I work for a small company and we have a large crockpot and I thought it might be easier to cook it here at work than at home at night (when I'd rather be doing other things). I guess I could just cook it on high until the veggies are soft?

Essentially, stretch marks are scar tissue, so you are pretty much stuck with them. They'll fade in color, but they probably wont get any thinner or smaller. Also, the areas of your skin with stretch marks are the ones that are least likely (if at all) to bounce back as you lose weight.

Congratulations!

Back pain or stress after weight loss?
Marimaru replied to princess_n_thep's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've had periodic back pain since surgery. Mostly it's when I drop 5 or 10 lbs in a short amount of time. I guess it's good I'm a slow loser, because I'll drop 5 or 10, and my back will be sore for a while but will get better while I'm stuck. -
I don't know if I'm too late, but I like number one. Maybe with pumps instead of boots? Boots are good to though.

~*~Have you ever lied about your weight?~*~
Marimaru replied to moon goddess's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have lied about my weight, but not to my fiance. My drivers license said 230 and that was a lie at the time, and now I weigh less than what it says . I think even if we lie about our weight, to some extent people can tell... but I doubt if anyone would ever call you on it, lol. -
Slime balls are they a bad thing?
Marimaru replied to Vegaswildflower's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
On top of what everyone else said, each time your level of restriction changes, what you are going to be able to eat will change as well. Make sure you aren't trying things that are just 'trouble'! -
Suavacita; it's a little early to really be able to tell whether or not you are going to be a slow loser, as you don't have a good fill level yet, so you don't know if those pounds will just fall off when you do! Definately go back for another fill, and make sure that whoever fills you (be it your surgeon or otherwise) ALWAYS knows what size band you have. It should be in your chart. If they think you have the bigger band and give you a bigger fill, but you really have the small one that could cause BIG problems (too tight!). If you have the big band, and they think you have the small one and give you a small fill, it's going to be almost pointless.

How many of us have NOT had major problems with the band?
Marimaru replied to tztmama's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm 2 years out and have no had any problems other than a short time of being too tight, which is of course easily fixed with an unfill. atxgirl; sliming is when you have something stuck (didn't chew enough, too big a bite, wrong kind of food, and doesn't want to go down), and so your body creates ALOT of extra saliva in order to try and get it to go down (which would work, if the band weren't in the way). Anywho, sliming is when all that saliva comes up. For me, in most cases, just the motion of brining up the slime will usually unstick whatever was stuck and it will go down, but sometimes it comes up, in which case your slime has turned into a PB (Productive Burp) -
Wow! That's nuts!

111 for me :grouphug:

Kelli, I've seen that laserbra site before and been very interested in that procedure. I was wondering if you would mind sharing the cost for your procedure? If not it's understandable, I just try and get cost info from as many people as possible so I can see what I'm up against when that time comes :grouphug:

I agree that it sounds like first bite syndrome. I have the same issue most of the time. Mostly, the answer is to just let it pass. Get used to the idea that you are going to have to wait a while after your first bite or two, and it gets a little easier. Sometimes I even get a little hung up on liquidy stuff, so when I go out to eat, I tend to order a cup of Soup with my meal. French onion works well to get past the first bite stuff, because the onions are soft, and so I tend to be able to sit at the table like nothing is wrong while I wait for it to pass. If that's not really an option (ie: mom's house for dinner), just take a teeny tiny bite or two, and the same theory applies, it's small enough and chewed enough that it'll pass... whenever it's gonna pass. Other than that, I don't have any really good ideas to get it to just go away altogether..

wantlapband; I do agree that it isn't fair that the insurance companies have just 'decided' what is or isn't allowed as far as approval. If you are denied by your insurance, do you have any method for Self pay? There are some surgeons in the US that will band people under a BMI of 35, and surgeons in Mexico and other countries will do it as well. If I'd been given a chance at the band at 85 lbs overweight (or even 50 lbs overweight if someone had told me what my future would be like) I'd be all over it!

" I get so mad about the littlest things anymore and I am usually super easy going. " This describes me a number of years ago when I was diagnosed with depression. It doesn't always mean sadness. You might be eating too little with how tired you are. How is your protien count? Also, you do need SOME fat in your diet. Work on Balancing your diet. I'm a little anemic, (I just found that out last week) and didn't think to look up online for the symptoms, but I think I will do that now. Hope you feel better!

I've gone through a few periods of this. At one point I went for over a week on 1 grazy meal a day. It would get to be about 3:30, and I'd realize that I hadn't eaten (food hadn't even crossed my mind). Then I started making myself eat, and eventually whatever it was wore off, lol.

Accountability in Mexico? (convincing loved ones)
Marimaru replied to Constance's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Dr. Rumbaut is great. You might consider emailing Doralisa (his assistant, if you haven't already been in contact with her) and asking what their policies are on complications. If you were going to chose a surgeon in Mexico, there's probably no one else I would recommend as much as him. As for the US, there's accountability, but the experience level isn't quite there yet. There are a number of people on this forum who see Dr. Billy in Ventura CA. He's also helped alot of people who were banded in Mexico and then had issues they weren't getting help with from their original doctors or doctors in their states. -
Jennifer Aniston has a big head too. My fiance, who's all bean-pole like, has a pretty big head as well. I think that GB, their body shrinks so fast we don't have time to get used to their head in proportion to their body as they lose... so when they shrink down to goal within a year or less, it looks like they have a big head.

~*~Holidays...how do you handle them?...~*~
Marimaru replied to moon goddess's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
For most holidays I go over to my mom's house, and her and/or her boyfriend have usually cooked something REALLY good. The only time it gets to me is when it's one of those days where I just can't get past 2 or 3 bites and I just kind of sit there staring at my plate. Other than that, I have a couple of bites when the snacks are out or whatever, and I probably eat a little more on days like that, but nothing that has ever done me any serious damage so far -
WOW... well, if they can get in there and get Pitunia out, you should DEFINATELY have some relief!! *hugs*
-
wantlapband; in many cases things like this are taken into considertion and you don't have to re-qualify for surgery as if your first surgery had never happened. Good question though! I know I certainly would not want to gain all that weight back just to qualify, but then, it would be really hard at that point just to maintain!

My fat and depression are linked, but that doesn't mean I'm not outwardly jolly, lol.
