Yeah, we have the benefiber here, it works well. But are you truly constipate? I ask, because it kind of goes liquid in/liquid out, so it may just be that there is nothin' there... Other than that, lots of people swear by prune juice, and apple juice to get things moving also.

I'm glad Vicki posted the recipe for REAL fried icecream. That stuff is SO GOOD. Anywho, no, I have never heard of "chocolate season" but that's what must be going on at my house, because I simply can't get enough of the stuff!

Like someone else said, you should definately be able to get a diagnosis from your regular doc about whether or not it's an infection. Please do so if the antibiotics don't help in another couple of days. :huggie:

That's a very good article. It actually kind of touches on a few things that I had kind of thought of, but not quite in that way. I don't know 'who' I am going to be when I'm thin(ner), but at the same time I don't know that I will miss who I 'was' or 'am'. I guess it depends on who I am when I get there.

I am not near capacity, but wanted to let you know that I have heard of cases where the 4cc band was taken to 5 cc's successfully (under the supervision of inamed). So 4cc's really isn't the end of the line if you need more restriction. Good luck!

I was in a relationship where my boyfriend at the time kept comparing me to his ex. She was truly aweful to him, but everything nice I did it was "oh you're so much better than my ex" and whenever we argued it was like "it feels just like back then with her". I was unable to work it out with that person, but mention it to kind of say I get what you are going through. He has to realize one way or another that you are not her, and WLS does not always lead to cheating. The idea of couples counceling is a very good one. It can help get to why he's feeling that way, and what he or you can do to help him get past it.

Mothers can be such pain. Once you are able to move out, you'll be able to get her back off you about stuff a bit. But one thing that got my attention was that you already tried to move out and she had those strokes so you moved back. You need to be prepared with what you are going to do if something like that happens again. If you are strong enough (don't take that as an insult, because I'm not strong enough to say lots of things to my mother), you need to sit down with her and tell her "When I'm done with school, I'm moving out, and I need you to be prepared for that, because I'm staying out this time". You know? Other than that, feel free to vent here if you need to

The Doctor Called and Made things right
Marimaru replied to natashiki's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can tell you that my surgery went very well. Of course I can't tell you how yours will go, but I was in and out in less than 45 minutes, the part that too the longest was waking up from the anesthesia, and then I was being wheeled into my room to meet up with my boyfriend (now fiance). I was up walking around the next day and had an uneventful healing after that. I was not given pain killers, I was given a muscle relaxer to help with the port pain, which actually seems to be caused by the muscles spasming around the new object that was thrown in there (Which I guess, because they worked REALLY well, and did NOT make me loopy either). I'm sure you'll be fine, BUT if you do not have full faith in your doctor, you should consider putting off your surgery. Our guts tell us stuff for a reason. *hugs* -
I feel mine all the time. I can feel it right now as I type this. Mine has always kind of 'made itself known' whether I was feeling for it or not. Within my first week of banding my mom was feeling it and was convinced I was developing a hematoma. It was my port, it's very near the surface. Makes for an easy fill, I'll tell you that.

so scared, help, please!!!kinda gross. women only.
Marimaru replied to Hedwig's topic in The Gals' Room
Hey girl, I don't have any advice to give... I hope you went to the doctor, and found out what was goin on. Please let us know. -
Sounds like the port to me. My port is kind of 'in different places' depending on where I try and feel it from, if that makes any sense. But, like Donna said, if you are really concerned, call your doc, and you'll feel better

I hate laundry rooms too. I think 2nd to people who don't pay attention to how long their laundry has been done is people that stand there and wait for your laundry to be done and take it out the second the timer goes off. I watch the clock when my laundry is in and go get it, and there's been a few times I've gone down 'right on time' (give or take a minute) and it's already sitting on top of the washer. There's no laundry room in my building where I live now. Honestly, it's almost easier to go to the laundromat, lol.

I think the only thing that could affect you really is medications that have a side effect of nausea, that didn't previously affect you, it might start making you nauseas, you know? Also, you aren't supposed to take NSAIDS (asprin, ibuprofen, etc)... as they can be bad for your stomach.

It really does sound like bypass requirements to me. I'm not sure why some doctors don't separate that, but I'll bet you lose alot. When will you be able to get your first fill? Most people get it at 6 weeks out, but then are usually on solids by then to be able to tell whether they actually need one. Good luck!

Congratulations on your grandbaby, and your decision you made to ensure you'd be there for her. I think I may not have been able to have children if I hadn't done anything about my own weight. Hopefully it wont be a problem when my fiance and I start trying. On a side note, I think every child should have their own cake on their first birthday to do with whatever they please, lol.

Does Your Insurance Cover Plastic Surgery?
Marimaru replied to mslynn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I checked "I don't know" but according to my benefits information, they'll cover something that is determined 'medically necessary'. I have not tried for approval on anything, and I may not. I currently (knock on wood) don't have any rashes or anything. I might be able to get a lift covered due to back pain if I started going in for it I guess, but it's not bad or often. -
It's the ketosis. It'll go away when you get in a little more carbs.

This is cool. 1. My fiance. I've been having a hard time lately and he's been such a rock for me to hold on to. When he can't offer advice he'll just hold me and let me cry. 2. My health. I recently found out I have a kidney cyst, developed a UTI, and some dental issues. You really don't know how good you have it until you are miserable (and I know there are those with worse situations than I). 3. Employment. I'm not 100% happy with my job right now, but I am very greatful that I have it. 4. Transportation; I'm very happy to have my car, and very unhappy when I don't have it for whatever reason. 5. I'm greatful for my family, even if I am having trouble dealing with them at the moment, lol.

To tell you the truth, you will probably not ever get that full feeling again. There is a big difference between being full and being 'satisfied', and since the pouch is at the upper part of the stomach, you aren't likely to feel full if you are portioning your food, or in the future, when you have restriction that helps you not eat more. I hope that explaination helped.

Does anyone want to make a pact with me?
Marimaru replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's gonna be a loooong time before I get to goal, but I will also vow to stick around for a while -
Susan, I pretty much agree with everyone else in my case. I am not hungry as often as I was before, and it takes less to make me not hungry (not hungry does not mean full, you know?). Head hunger is another story altogether, but I'm working on that too. Have you gotten any feedback from your doctors about why you still feel hunger? Maybe yours is truly a situation where the band isn't right for you (which by no means indicates that you did anything wrong, mind you). Eating every few hours CAN be ok with the band, if you are eating 5 or 6 small meals a day, instead of 3 meals per day which still technically means no snacking. I hope that you get some relief one way or another with your struggle.

That is AWESOME!!

I've been 'backed up' pretty regularly lately. I've been 'prescribed' adding more fiber to my diet, so I got the benefiber that you can mix into anything. It really is tasteless.

What is your goal weight based on?
Marimaru replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My original goal (and the number all my mini goals come off of [like halfway]) is 140. I decided on this because my sister was 140 at the time, and I thought she looked great (then she went and lost another 15 lbs O.O). Since then I've kind of adjusted it to 140~160. I was 165 in Jr. high, and only a little over weight, and I'm a little taller now than then, and I have bigger breasts, so I think that getting to 165 again would be wonderful, and then maybe a little lower, just to not be at that number, you know? (I'm 5'6 by the way). I also think that for many of us (not all) that the weight we might have been if we'd never been MO, is probably not the ideal weight for us now, if that makes any sense. What with extra skin, and the little pockets of fat you sometimes get that aren't going anywhere no matter what you do (short of surgery). If anything, I recommend a goal that you think is maybe just a little high, and then you can always go PAST goal when you get there if you decide it's not enough  -
I haven't really found anything to replace it yet. I watch alcohol carefully because that addiction runs in my family. Right now with my therapist we are working on the things that cause me to reach out for food (self destructive behavior). I'm hoping to break through that, because while I'm maintaining I just can't seem to make myself do what I know I need to do to get past 215. *shrug*
