    School Bully's

I don't have kids yet, but in my mind, I would just keep going up the ladder until I got a response that I thought might have any lasting effect. If the principal is only going to suspend him, you can go up to the superintendant, etc up to the school board, or you can go up to the police, and file a charge against the boy. At that age, it usually just involved a citation, which means a fine for the parents, which may or may not do anything to the boy the first time, but a few of those and he'll end up in a detention center. I do think that kids should be encouraged to defend themselves, as long as you have a good moral Fiber attached. I kind of cringe to think what schools are going to be like when I have kids. They are banning tag from schools now. Not too long before the ban sharp pencils...

    So Unhappy...

Have you given any thought to gall bladder type issues? I'm not sure whether you still have yours or not...

    Big Bruises

Bruising easily can be a sign of Anemia, which is usually battled by taking Iron. I have become a little Anemic in the last year (banded 2 years). I'm not sure why I'm anemic now this far out... but thinking about it, I may not have had my blood taken for a really long time.... lol

Bi-Polar Meds - The skinny and the fat

I'm on Welbutrin for depression, but I'm not Bipolar... it was my understanding that those are different things and should be treated differently. Paxil caused me to gain some weight, Welbutrin I've lost on, and that's all the info I have.

    NEW HERE: should I or shouldn't I

I'm a little over 2 years out from being banded. I've lost 65 lbs, and my BMI is about 35 now (from 45), and I've gone from a 24 to a 16/18 in jeans. 65 lbs in over 2 years really doesn't seem like much. Some days, it doesn't feel like much. I didn't have any health issues when I was banded, perse, but I was on the way. I'd started snoring, where I didn't before, which I believe would have led to sleep apnea. My blood pressure was normal, but I'd noticed it was starting to go up a little bit, and I knew I couldn't have been all that far from Diabetes. If I had not been banded, one thing I can guarantee is that I would be over 300 lbs right now, and still going... and I would probably not be as healthy as I was when I was banded. I do not feel like a band failure, because as slow as it goes, it's still going, and in the whole time I've been banded, I haven't gained, only lost or stayed the same. Hope this helps.
  6. I think that you should tell them you are having something done. I bounced back from surgery very well (surgery friday, flying monday, work tuesday), but I work at a desk. I definately could not have done major housework, or done very much to take care of children. If the kids are older, you could probably manage it, but there's also the chance that you will have complications (heaven forbid, but you still have to consider the possiblity). I'm sure they'd rather know about it and plan for you to have some days off, than for you to try and do it over a weekend and have a complication, and then they have no one to nanny, and no notice to get someone else.

    Anyone having port pain?

I wouldn't say my hurts constantly, but probably it hurts nearly as much as it doesn't hurt. It's not bad, usually just a mild ache. Every now and then it'll get worse than that, I kind of prod with with my hands, and the attention seems to make it back down, as odd as that is. Whenever I eventually make it to (or around) goal, I plan of having some work done to my body, and at that time, I intend to have the smaller low profile port installed. It's flatter I guess.

Important Questions to ask Doctors in MX

I was banded in July of 04 by Dr. Rumbaut. I didn't ask for the serial number of my band, but I was given a wallet card, and a letter for my doctor to put in my medical records detailing the procedure. My surgery was uneventful, and my healing time was quick. I had surgery on Friday and was back to work Tuesday (flying home Monday). One of his assisting doctors dame to my hotel to check on me as well. As for questions, fortunately for me, I didn't have any complications, but the only question I had asked about complications was what would it take for the surgery to be converted to open surgery, and the answer was basically that really only happens to people that are 400+, in his experience. I didn't think about infections or anything like that, so I didn't ask, but you should be sure to ask what they in case of things like that, and what you'll have to pay for in those cases. Complications are the one thing that really ends up making Mexico a bad deal for some people.

    Child support

Beyond the child support, you need to agree on who will pay for dental expenses and things like that which aren't covered by medical insurance. My dad was supposed to pay $550 per month child support for me and my 2 sisters, and half of all medical/dental expenses. He never paid any of it, which is something else you need to be prepared to deal with.

No food or drink after midnight the day before surgery.

    I'm In Trouble

I boil my chicken in some kind of soup, whatever I want that day.

    Scared to death of relationships?

I guess along with the 'go for it comments' I want to add, just to keep your heart guarded a little bit. I guess I'm saying, don't throw everything into it all at once, you know? :couch2: Congrats on all the new friends and everything go!!
  13. You can do it, and it's mentioned frequently, but, people seem to refuse to use it. I don't ignore anyone, because it sometimes can confuse a conversation, because someone will response to their post and you wont know what they said (as happens when someone deletes a post after someone responds to it).
  14. I think banning CAN be effective. I have no idea what happened over the weekend, and I'm probably not sad I missed it. What Brooklyn said about IP's is true, and if she hadn't said it, I would have. I absolutely think that something had to be done, because it's not like there were just nasty threads; there were perfectly good informational lap band related threads that got tainted by this crap and then locked, or turned into pages of fighting and then dropped off when another thread got chosen to fight in. I was very careful to stay out of it, and have mostly tried to just answer threads in support of people, but I have largely avoided this place for the last few days as well. I would have left altogether if I didn't see threads I thought I could give helpful advice in.
  15. Good luck Crystal!! See you when you get back!
  16. You mentioned that soup doesn't 'hurt', does that mean that eating solid protien hurts? If it does, you may be too tight, and need a slight UNfill. That way you can eat solid protien that leaves you satisfied instead of mushies that go right through.

    discourged

Well, I am also 2 years out and not at goal. I haven't lost nearly as well as you have to begin with, but I too am glad for what I have so far, but sad for what I don't have yet. Have you considered having a panni removal? That would take care of the lower belly and you might be able to run and kick your exersize up a notch once you get healed up. If it's causing you issues, you could probably even get insurance to cover it for you. My issue is that I'm either eating just enough to not lose, or if my eating is good, I'm drinking alcohol. I've got some sort of mental block going on where I just can't buckle down and do what I need to do. *hugs*

    Fluctuating weight?

I weigh every day, and it was starting to control my mood for the day. Loss made me happy and gain made me mad, and it colored my whole day. I tried to quit wieghing so much, but that didn't really work, so I made a rule for myself, that it only counts on Sunday. I can weigh any day during the week at any time to 'see how I'm doing', but it only counts on Sunday. If I update my ticker, it's because it was different on Sunday.

The Band is not working for my daughter???

Sounds to me like she's right on track. This just may be *her* speed for losing, which is different than yours. If she is frustrated by it, maybe she should go in for a little tweak or something.

    Signing Off

I've made a point of not responding to any of these kinds of threads, but really, this is just getting ridiculous. There's no reason for ANYONE to say any of the nasty things that have been said. I for one think that Lisa did give some good advice, and could definately offer things to our community, but that's my opinion, and opinion seems to be a dangerous thing around here lately. I will say it's interesting to see people's personalities come out around here. I have been getting a different feel for a whole lot of people that I never had before. And 'supportive' isn't the word I would use to describe it.

    Custody fight for brother

I would think the conviction of the beating would easily put the kids in his hands permanently. The wages that are being garnished, will have to be stopped probably by a court order, so he'll keep being garnished until that is done. Probably he can get that money back if he can prove she didn't have the kids while she was receiving the money. Good luck

    Ethical Question

If you started your business to take time to work on yourself, I think it would be counter-productive of you to spend too much effort on other people and continuing to ignore your own needs, you know? Diva- I think 3loves got a little snippy with you, because it's a pretty public fact that Lisa unfortunately lost her band to erosion, around the same time that Penni did. If you didn't go very far back in the archives, it would make sense you had no idea of that.

    Wellbutrin to Celexa Switchero

Honestly, if you can't take a welbutrin XL pill, you probably aren't eating any other solid foods either. Even at my tightest, I can still take decent sized pills (not the horse pills vitamins come in, but other regular stuff).
  24. I'm over 2 years out and I've had 2 fills and one unfill in that time.

    Gustric Segmentation

I've read about this before I think. It's been done but it didn't pick up very quickly. Since it's not adjustable, the few people I've heard of who had it, had to have it removed because at some point it was too tight and they couldn't keep anything down. Since it's not adjustable, the only option was removal.
