If you think your incision is getting infected, get to the doctor ASAP. As for weight loss, you are 4 weeks out from major surgery, are you supposed to even be exercising yet? I was told to take it way easy for 2 weeks, and then resume exercise at 6 weeks. Anywho, your body needs some time to adjust. it'll come.

I'm pretty sure it's silicone with a little bit of titanium in the port. Assuming there's no issues, it'll last longer than you do, lol

We call it "migraine aura" in our family.... my mom and I almost never get the aura without the headache (and sometimes nausea) alont with it. I don't get them too often, but ick..

I'm curious about the diagnosis too. I'm sure there are lots of us dealing with health issues that maybe should have this checked out..

crazycibertalk; If you stay below 1500 calories and don't feel you are losing fast enough, knock off another 100 or 200 calories from that. I don't lose unless I eat less than 1300 calories every single day. That's why I'm stuck right now, it's pretty hard... I'm not sure why there is such a difference between 1300 and 1500 calories...

Cant get over the hump...this cant be the end!

To add to this, after the point where it's not as easy to lose, it's not any harder than if you'd gotten yourself to that point with no band... -
wow, that's really cool... that people saw what he was trying to do, and did what the state wouldn't do.

I'm pretty sure you can drop a kid off at any emergency room and it would be cared for. Probably the parents would be searched for, if the baby was just left there and not dropped off as a known unwanted child or something.. I dunno. Regarding the guys; I do think that if a guy doesn't want a baby, but the pregnant woman intends to keep it, he should be able to sign some kind of waiver... it SHOULD be something that is agreed upon one way or the other, but too many people get together casually and non-protected, and there's no background or anything between the couple. Regarding her having the baby and handing it to him for care, I think it's a good option, but I think it would be more difficult to get women to agree to that. Like other posters have said, a lot changes in a woman's body with pregnancy, some of which just isn't going back to the way it was. A lot of "girls" aren't willing to go through that and 'do that to themselves'. Also, what if the baby is born, and the parent who signed the waiver then decides they want to participate? Does the parent who was originally taking 100% responsibility of the child then get to decide whether the other person gets to be involved? Unfortunately this whole thing is SO gray... There was a poster who said that it's good that children can get abortions without their parents knowing, because some parents are violent, or would force them to have the child; I get what you are saying, but I still don't think it's right. I'm not sure I have a better answer. I mean, I was about to say something like "maybe the clinics offer some kind of shelter for kids who's parents react that way" but that still doesn't get them the medical clearance of the parents... so another gray area, I guess. And, on another (possibly hypocritical) note, I do agree with the idea that kids can go to their doctor and ask for birth control without their parents consent...

You might try gas x or something... if it's gas that should knock it right out.

Just about every forum I've ever been a member of has had an "Off Topic" section much like our lounge. Most of those forums don't have an R&R specific section, they are just all together as they are all 'off topic'. I thought it was nice that our mods separated it, as it gave people the option of NOT going into R&R and seeing those threads and just going to the other section... but the issue to me honestly is that people aren't controlling their curiosity, when they see a post in the new posts section, and are clicking on it, and then becoming upset... An ignore feature would help with that, but in the meantime, Alexandra's idea will do the exact same thing... -
If it already looks like it's going to be after August 2nd, I'm not sure how much worse pitching a fit could make it, honestly. You might consider saying something to the effect of "If I don't have this done by August 2nd, I need to resubmit to my new insurance company and if I have to redo all of this anyway, I'll redo it with someone else who cares more about their patients". Even if it's a bluff (I don't know what options you have in your area), it might get their attention

Still stuck right on the edge. It's just teasing me, lol...

I would highly recommend adding a Fiber suppliment to your diet if you haven't... I use the benefiber powder, it's completely tasteless. Hope you feel better -
This is probably going to come out a little more harsh than I mean it because I'm all stressed out but are you serious?! There are so many people who are above a 25 BMI but aren't overweight, even if that tells them they are. By the BMI standard anyone who body builds is overweight, should they have to pay this tax too? What about the people with actual health reasons (like Vinesqueen) for their weight gain or lack of weight loss? Or the people that just naturally bottom out above that BMI level, etc. I'll actually agree that the cigarette tax has gotten out of hand, but damn.. If you were being sarcastic, I'll take it all back, but I don't get the feeling you are.

mnashow; How much are you filled and when was your last fill? Being filled does not mean you are filled to the right amount. If your doctor can't get you in, switch doctors. It wont work unless you keep up on the restriction, if you can still eat what you used to eat, the fill you have doesn't mean anything.

I've never been in a position where I had to choose for myself, but I don't believe it's my choice to tell anyone else what they should or should not do. I do however have an opinion on the idea that there are some women out there having abortions as a form of birth control (ie, 2, 3, 4 abortions). I think these women should sterilized, or have some semi permanant form of BC, like an IUD, installed. I also think that anyone under 18 shouldn't have one without their parents knowing about it. My sister couldn't get a cavity filled without my mom's signature, but at least in some places, teens can get abortions without it...

I don't know much about miscarriages... but whatever happens I hope that she is doing well. Keep us updated...

Carlene, I don't know if they have them in your area, but I just recently signed up for LA fitness... there's a startup fee and they want you to pay first and last month, but there's no contract, which is important to me because I'm moving in 8 months and all of the contracts are a year... anyway, for me it's about $30 a month, which was my whole point, because that's pretty cheap (at least out here)...

Sandy, if you losing inches, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Likely in the not too distant future, you'll drop a number of pounds. For me, when I AM losing, it's like this: stuck for a long time, size adjusts (with no weight loss) then I drop 5, 10, or 15 lbs.

I've been diving a number of times since I was banded, and I've never had a problem. Travel in general (stress, flying) gets me a little, but only for a day or so, I just get a bit tight. My surgeon's office said it wouldn't be a problem.

To me this is not even remotely close to being the same thing. Smoking can harm a healthy person, anorexic people and bulimic people are sick to begin with, and it's watching another type of eating disorder that makes them feel ill. If they got help with their addiction, the other wouldn't affect them. The smokers (and some ex smokers) seem to be (at least, this is how I am taking it), trying to put this into a light that will "make us understand" (us being non smokers). I'm a non-smoker, before I happened it never occurred to me that people shouldn't smoke in public places, and it didn't bother me unless it was right in my face. But I do understand the logic behind it, for example: I'm a non-smoker and I have asthma. I'm a waitress looking for a job and the only job available in my small town is at a bar full of smokers. I can't work there, because it'll affect my asthma. BUT, you NOT smoking at a bar, while it might give you the jitters, isn't going to make you sick. You can step outside for a few minutes for a cig. No one is telling you NOT to smoke, they are just telling you WHERE NOT to smoke. Hell, if you want to compare it to obesity, how many of us are/were closet eaters because we KNEW what people would think if they saw us eating the way we were?!

Drove 2.5 Hours and FillUSA called to cancel
Marimaru replied to TRANAM1955's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sorry smatyas, but I think you should remove it until you actually have a doctor. "Coming soon" for 2 years is ridiculous. I know you guys provide a service, but I'm not the only one in my area irritated about this. -
I am a non-smoker. Until my sisters got pregnant, I was the ONLY non-smoker in my family, my dad, my sisters, my mom, her boyfriend, my fiance, all smoked. Their smoking didn't bother me unless it got straight in my face, which people were always careful about. I didn't mind sitting in the smoking section with them, etc... but I don't mind not having to smell it wherever I go now. I think *maybe* there should be bars that can have smoking, but again, a totally smoking, or non smoking place, no 'sections'. As for cigarette taxes, I don't think the smoking bans are affecting that as much as one might think... Lots of people go out to smoke and suck down 2 cigarettes instead of just one 'since they are out there'. Besides, they just raise the tax and you guys pay more for your cigs, lol. I agree that a town based ban wont work, it's gotta be state wide, or people will just pop over to the next town where they can smoke, and that will hurt the local businesses a bit. California is a non-smoking state for indoors, but also themeparks now have 3 or 4 very small smoking sections, even though the whole park is outside. As 'inconvenient' as it might be, I think it's alot better for the kids that go, and frankly, better for the underage smokers since they can't just light up wherever. I go with my fiance on alot of his smoke breaks (so yes, I am also 'inconvenienced' by having to step away), but it's not that big of a deal. My only thing with my fiance and his smoking is that either he'll need to quit (which he says he wants to do) or go outside to smoke when we have kids.
