    Getting a Correct Fill

Alot of fills that are done without flouro that I've heard of, the doctor fills the band up all the way, and has the patient drink some water, then pulls just as much fill as they have to for the water to go down at a decent rate. I've only had a few fills, and they were all done with flouro, but just because that's what that doctor does. From what I hear, fills are more of an art than a science.

I agree 100% with what Faith said

    10 lbs.....to get approved!

Try drinking a whole bunch of water before you get weighed, as well as wearing heavy clothing. I probably wouldn't do quarters and the like, but I wouldn't want to gain 10 lbs of fat, either. You could eat lots of salty things to retain more water too...

    Help cant stop snacking

I also have an issue with late night snacking. The things I've found that work best for not snacking are either deciding "I wont eat after X time", or having something to occupy my hands, like needle work or video games

    Lap band weight pecentages

I'm 3 years out and have lost 60% - 70%, depending on whether I'm happy at 160, or want to get to 140 as my final goal. No, I'm not where I want to be, but I'm happier with where I am than where I was. My starting BMI was 45.something, and now it's 32.1. I was just telling my sister last night that when I lose 10 more lbs, people are going to think I'm nuts running around screaming "I'm overweight, I'm overweight!!" lol. Lots of people have gotten to goal.

    Is plastic surgery inevitable?

The "need" for plastic surgery is defined differently by everyone. I'm down 85 lbs, with 55 to go, and there are a few places that I intend to have done. I don't "need" it. Saggy boobs don't hurt me in any way (at least physical pain, looking in the mirror hurts, sometimes). I don't have any of the skin rashes that some people get, which would make it a "need". Depending on age, how much you need to lose, how long you were big, and how fast you lose, you could end up with a significant amount of loose skin, or you could end up how I think I am going to (other than the boobs, lol), which is a little "squishy" in most places. I don't think my stomach will be saggy (it's not bad now, at all), but it wont be firm without surgery.
  7. I think the big thing here is that he agreed not to tell, and then he did. If he wasn't willing to lie about it to keep it from his parents, he should have been up front about that fact in the beginning, especially if, like you said, he's lied to them about other things in the past HE didn't want them to know. I think you should revisit this with him. Obviously the main part is over, he already told his dad, but he needs to explain to you why he agreed to something and then went back on it, I think

i can eat more that 1/2 cup

Some bandsters are able to eat up to a cup and a half, depending on what it is they are eating. If you aren't uncomfortable when you eat, you probably aren't doing any damage. A half a cup isn't much at all, I'm not surprised you can eat more than that, really. If you are losing without suffering, I'd say things are fine. If you find yourself hungry while trying to stick to your 'plan', then maybe go in for another fill

My doctor is putting on phentermine

The thing that occurs to me, is that the drug may very well help you lose weight, but what is going to help you keep it off?

    why oh why oh why?????

"uh, look old man; I ride 10 miles for myself. If she wants to join me, she knows when I'm going and where I'll be. That's where my responsibility on the subject ends". heh. I could never say something like that, LOL

questions about pb/slime and slow loss

If you have a fill, I recommend getting some removed. Many, many people have been in your situation (myself included), and once they got a small fill, usually there was a slight jump in weight (muscle tissue rebuilding, and re-hydration), and then a drop in weight. PBing every day is not good for the band. The wretching it can cause, can cause the band to slip. After a PB, you should go to liquids at least for the rest of the day, if not the next day also. You might even try doing liquids for a few days. You might not need an unfill, you might just be very swollen from all of the irritation caused by the PBing.

    Bulemic state of mind?

Donna, You gained 10 lbs quickly, and you probably aren't eating all that much. Gaining a pound of 'extra' weight requires eating an EXCESS of 3500 calories. You'd have to eat 35000 extra calories to gain 10 lbs of 'extra' weight. When you aren't getting the nutrition you need, you get dehydrated, and your muscles atrophy. It IS Water and muscle weight, and I hope you'll reconsider. Every time you get an unfill and start eating more, you are going to put on weight like this, and it's not a good pattern. I hope you will talk to your doctor about your thoughts when you go in for your appointment.

    Slow Losers - Unite!

I've said this before, but I would like to remind people of something. With a band, you will not lose weight faster than you have with diet and exercise. The band makes the calorie restriction easier, and that's it. However fast you lost weight on 1200 calories in the past, is how fast you'll lose weight on 1200 calories now, only you shouldn't be so hungry, and you shouldn't feel so deprived, if you have a good fill level. Some people just lose slower than others.
  14. A number of things have already happened for me... My husband wouldn't let me be sexually repressed just because I was fat (although he had to work REALLY hard to get me to come out of my shell, lol) I've been to amusement parks without being exhausted after only a few hours. My sisters bought me lots of nice sexy things for my bridal shower, and now I want more!! I actually thought I looked good in my wedding dress!! My wedding ring is in a "normal" size, and I needed to have my engagement ring resized to match it. I want to get my belly button pierced. I had it done once, but the way my stomach was, it just stayed irritated and never healed, so I had to take it out. I want to dress up at an anime convention I've been able to shop *mostly* in the normal sizes. At some stores I'm still a 16, but mostly a 14, and I'm finding 14 is the tippy top of "normal" In ~10 lbs, I'll have an "overweight" BMI. People are going to think I am crazy running around screaming "I'm overweight! I'm overweight!!" I'm actually looking forward to my high school reunion. Right now I'm the size I was when I first started going to that school (mid sophomore year), and I've got another year, so maybe I'll have even had my plastic surgeries by then, lol. I want my boobs and my belly button to quit talking. A breast lift is in my future (maybe even a little reduction, but SHHH don't tell my husband). That's all I can think of right now..
  15. Hey there, Something else you might consider is a crock pot. Things in there take a long time, usually you can start them in the morning, and they'll be ready when you get home from work (or school, or whatever). Then, you'll have leftovers you can nuke. No fire necessary
  16. I went to Dr. Rumbaut in Monterrey. It was a great experience, and it was a great hospital. Even 3 years down the line, if I had it to do all over again, I'd do the same thing.

What do you do after you PB

For me, it depends on the severity of it. If it's really a productive 'burp', and I just end up spitting something out, I'll try again in a bit. If there's wretching or anything like that envolved, I give it a rest at least for the rest of the day.
  18. I only break really big pills in half. I don't crush anything. DBAguy, you cannot crush time release pills. They are designed that way so you don't get the full dose of the medicine at once. If you crush it, you get all of it at once, and it doesn't go slow through your system like it is supposed to. If you have time release medications you are taking, and you can't take the pills, you should switch (if you can) to the none time release type, but you'll need to take it more often...

    Slow Losers - Unite!

Carol, 30 lbs in 3 months is not slow. What were you expecting you should have lost by now? If you keep up that average, you'll have lost 120 lbs in a year! 1 to 2 lbs per week is the most healthy, expected weight loss. That's 4 to 8 lbs per month, 52 to 104 lbs per year.

    Intimacy

My husband has worked our entire relationship to get me to open up about what I want, and I'm getting better at it. The more I'm able to talk to him, the closer we get, and I'm getting the the point where I'm not forcing the words out (because I'm feeling shy). At the beginning, one thing that helped was that we both work in technology (for the same company) and we could chat online, so I didn't have to actually "say" things, but he still got the message.

    I need some advice

Hey, any update on the situation? Did you say something to her, or has she done anything else? How are you doing??

    Who would you rather marry?

If both was an option, I would have picked it. My husband is both my best friend and my romantic lover. I think both are important..

    Marimaru's wedding.

Wow, I guess I'll get right on updating that avatar! The cow cake was my mom's idea. My husband will order steak no matter what restaurant, except maybe Denny's. She saw a picture of the cow cake, and then I found the toppers when I was looking for the topper for the main cake. I was looking for the picture of that cake again for the baker, and I came across a recipe for a cake actually made of meat loaf and frosted in mashed potatoes. I'm gonna do that for his birthday or something, lol.

    Any Banders In Their 20s's????

I'm 25, I was banded in July of '03. There's actually a few threads around for people in their 20's (and teens).

    why oh why oh why?????

Deanna, Not all in laws are awful. I'm sure you'll be a great in law :scalesno:. You just can't change people like that though, and I imagine it's incredibly frustrating that your FIL seems to want to make you responsible for making her workout. At least your hubby agrees with you. I read things like this where the actual child of the in laws argues for the in laws when they are treating the spouse badly and it just makes me insane!
