Probably you should talk to your band doctor about it, but he might send you to your primary for those kinds of tests. I've been low on Iron since banding. Which can cause the tiredness you are describing. You can get Iron in chewable form from a Vitamin store.

The band is a big commitment to yourself to be ready to some real head work. The band is designed to help with the 'endless hunger' feeling, after that, it's really up to us. I am in a rut myself, and started back on plan yesterday (no waiting for Monday anymore). For ME the band works like this; I have to diet to lose weight, but when I am not dieting, if I'm not going CRAZY, I wont gain anything back, so when I'm ready to get my head on straight again, I can pick up where I left off. It's too hard to try and do everything at once. You said you eat when you aren't hungry; the band wont really help with that except for how much you eat at a time. Find a hobby that takes up time and YOUR HANDS. I started crocheting a while back, but just something that takes yours hands up so they can't be conveying food to your mouth, you know? If the types of things you are eating are an issue, start knocking those out one at a time. It's a slower way to results than "cold turkey" but it's easier for me. The best way for me to keep in check is calories. If I eat something bad, that's fine, but it goes in the calorie count on fitday. And then at the end of the day, I have to stare at the number to see how I did. I don't like how I feel when the number is higher than I want, so I avoid that. Exercise is my bane, but I do okay for a little while. I was going with my sisters to the gym until recently. I'm moving in 3 weeks, and I've already located gyms in my new area to scope out once I get there. Hopefully I can get my hubby to start going with me too.

The band isn't right for everyone. Personally, for information's sake, if you don't mind sharing, I'd like to know why you don't think it's right for you? I do not think that insurance will pay for a revision without you having issues with the band. Unfortunately, there aren't alot of people who got revisions who hang around here, but you might try to repost this in the "Life After Lap Band Removal" section. There was a poster who used to hang around called Geezer Sue who was revised to DS, but I haven't seen her in a while.

Do you have a link to an article on this? If her insurance denied her, she should fight it. I've never heard that denial reason before (not to say it doesn't exist).

Does Anyone Ever Forget They Have The Band?
Marimaru replied to Ryanband07's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I mostly only remember it when I do something stupid and get stuck. I don't *forget* it perse, I just don't think about it. Not eating certain things, or giving it a little thought is rather second nature, even though I'm thinking about it, it's not way in the front of my brain like it used to be. -
Want breast reduction - is this too soon?
Marimaru replied to maryrose's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I 2nd waiting. I don't know how far you want them reduced, but i think it would be disappointing to go through the surgery and then lose the rest of your weight and find that they'd deflated... you know? -
Those of you with smaller boobs are actually kind of lucky. It'll just take a little incision to get the implants in to fill out the skin you already have. I have big boobs, but they like to talk to my belly button. I'll need the surgery with the big anchor shaped scars to get the same look, lol

Still sick at stomach. What is going on???
Marimaru replied to claramae's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Have you called your doctor? We can only guess, he'll have a better idea of what is really going on.. -
I've stayed at the same hotel both times I went there. Once was when my mom and my sister went and the other time was for my honeymoon, so I can't really help you with the hotel. If you are scuba diver, DEFINITELY do the Manta Ray night dive. Even if you aren't a diver, you should do the snorkel version. The divers sit at the bottom, with lights, and the snorkelers are on the surface with lights, all grouped together. The light draws in the plankton, which Mantas eat, and both times I went there were more than 10 different rays. It was totally amazing. Other than that, you can check out the volcano stuff on the big island. I don't know much else.

I think I know the kind of nausea you are talking about. Try taking gas X or something for gas... and drinking something warm, like tea. It didn't happen to me anywhere near surgery time, but it hits me every now and then. If you still fill ill tomorrow, you should give your doc a call.

I was a 42DDD and now I'm a 36DDD. That sounds weird, but the cup of a 36c is smaller than the cup in a 42c, you know? I was a C cup in the 6th grade, so my actual breast tissue (not just fat) is plentiful. Now they're just squishy, lol. I can't wait until I can get a lift. I think basically you'll lose the fat in your breasts like you lose fat everywhere else, but however much of that is what you were 'supposed to have' will stick around, if that makes any sense.

Brian, I totally see where you are coming from. I'm glad you were so willing to do this much research for your wife. I've seen many post from people where their SO wont do any research, they've decided it's bad and they wont be supportive about it. I've also seen posts where AFTER the person gets the surgery, without their spouse's support, their spouse finally learns some things and turns around. Your wife is lucky to have you supporting her so early in the game

Duckie, how much did you expect to have lost by now?

My understanding of the stomach organ is that if you constantly eat a lot, it will expand, but if you quit eating that much, it will go back toward it's original size. I believe this to be true, because even on days when I do not have good restriction, I still can't eat what I used to. There are some significant rules with the band, which is probably why your doctor wants you to prove that you can lose some weight on your own. I don't know how much he told you to lose. You can still eat savory foods, just not much of them. Some people have trouble with breads and rice and things, but not everyone, and you learn to live with your limitations. I dunno, if the band is a con, I think that the RNY is a bigger con, because there are a decent chunk of those people that lose their weight, maintain for a little while, and then as soon as their body adapts to the surgery, if they haven't changed their ways, they start gaining again. I don't think any of the surgeries are a con, I just think that some of them work better for some people than others. The band is not right for some people, and the RNY and other surgeries aren't right for most of us that chose to go with the band.

The best thing to do is follow the rules your doctor gives you. Generally don't try to eat more than your band will let you, avoid PB's, etc. Unfortunately, sometimes it happens to even the people who follow all the rules to the letter. Keep in mind that a board like this gets more activity from people who need support than people who are doing fine and not having any problems, which is why it seems like there are a lot of issues.

Does your husband have any kind of vice? My husband (then boyfriend) was supportive, but didn't really understand until we were talking about his drinking (he drinks beer daily, doesn't get really drunk) and he said something about my not knowing how he felt. I explained that I thought I had a pretty good idea, and explained some of my feelings around food. I'm not sure whether or not he really understand still, but I could see and hear the surprise in him when I told him that. He had no idea.

I think people try to point toward racism, since it's a particular race that seems to be the biggest population of illegal immigrants. If it were another race, it would be those people that we'd be talking about. If a bunch of Americans were/are doing the same thing to another country, I'd imagine they'd be saying the same things about us. Illegal is illegal. The reasons behind it don't really factor into it. If their country is so bad to live in, they ought to start working on THAT.

Your post has had a lot of views, and only one reply so far, and I think that's because the first thing many people are thinking is "Why did you think being thin would solve your problems?" There shouldn't be any physical trait that anyone has that if changed, would solved all of the problems they have with another person. Honestly, if that were true, the other person wouldn't be worth being with, in my opnion. I don't know what your issues with your husband are, but my sister and her husband are having some significant issues right now, and what my mom said to my sister was "Stick it out until you are sure you have no doubts about ending it". Good luck getting this all sorted out.

I liked video games as a kid and I was still pretty active. Honestly, my parents probably should have just left my weight alone when I was 9, 10, 11, and puberty might have taken care of the 10 to 20 pounds they (mostly dad) determined was a problem. I think that being fat restricts the hobbies you have, but doesn't choose them. Fat or thin, I would still like anime and video games and computers. I'm just one of those geeky type people. But, when I am thinner, I might also like other more active things, you know?

"Hunny, I know you are trying to take care of me, and I know that everything you are doing is out of love, but if you don't back off just a little bit, I am going to snap and I'll probably bite your head off. And telling your sister to quick calling so much to find out how much I'm eating would be a really good start." I don't think that's an unreasonable thing to say to your husband. They do tend to pick at us at times, especially when they are scared, which I'm sure he is/was after your stressful ordeal. If your husband understands the obesity monster at all it might do some good to explain you are going to be going through kind of a 'withdrawal' over the next few weeks, just as a warning. My husband is Mr. Twigman so he didn't understand it all until I compared it to his love of beer. heh.

OMG!!! My band slipped 1 day out of surgery!!
Marimaru replied to claramae's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think this actually serves as a very good example of a case where it is absolutely not the patient's fault that their band slipped. I think lots of people get caught up in "What did you do to cause it" you know? Sometimes it just happens. I'm sorry about your ordeal, but at least you were still in the hospital where the doctors and nurses could monitor you, and not at home panicking!! -
Probably you should make sure you don't eat too close to when you go to bed. It doesn't sound like you are eating very much, are you eating enough? If it lasts very long or you are worried about it, call your doc and see what he says.

I'm a 'slow loser' anyway, and I was on Depo when I first got my band. Since I wasn't on it for any reason but convenience, I switch to the pill, just in case is was affecting my weight loss. txgirl; what do you mean by 'still hardly eating'? And what is your weight loss been like, what are your stats?

It seems as though every doctor has their own idea of what the protocol should be. I've heard very different 'rules' on this site from various doctors.

I was banded in Mexico and flew home 3 days later. I got a little nauseas on the plane, but that's it.
