Has any experienced excessive acne after banding? All of the sudden I have acne on both my cheeks? I've never had this problem before and wonder is there a connection. I was banded June 2004. I went to a dermatologist who prescribe antibiotic for a month along with a antibactorial wash followed up with a special cream. It worked for a while but the acne came back. Butta

Vinesqueen, I was banded Jun 04. "a combination of hormones, being dehydrated and constipated" This could be a part of the problem. My Water intake has decreased lately. I have another visit in 2 weeks I will inquire about "Spirnolactone" Thanks Butta

I should introduce myself. Silly me, I found the intro section weeks after posting my first message. I bookmarked this site prior to surgery, but never went to the homepage. I was banded 6-28-04, by Dr Shayani @Loyola Hospital. Surgery and recovery were both uneventful. In fact I was up pacing the floors at midnight (ready to go home) I was back exercising by 7-12-04. Fortunately the only health problem I suffer from is back pain. A few years ago my PCP suggested bariatric bypass surgery, but after lurking around on a website like this one, I decided not to pursue bypass surgery. Also the thought of being butchered scared me. Last year I heard about banding surgery on the news and by searching the web and calling the different hospitals I found Dr Shayani. It took me until March or April of this year to decide to finally make an appointment. I was shocked when I received insurance approval. It was only at this point that I shared my decision with my family. After I assured them that this procedure was a lot less complicated than the bypass surgery both my mom and sister were very supportive. I am 5' 11" and my starting weight was 314, to date I have lost 231 lbs. (That's 31 off me plus a 200lb ex-boyfriend, who had been previously warned) I'm still adjusting but glad I did it, I only wish I had found out about this type of surgery sooner. On of the things my Doctor mentioned in his monthly seminar was that he did not have a band inside of him and he learns through his patient. So far you guys have been so helpful and I look forward to sharing the journey. Butta

I am using Naproxen 500MG for pain and to reduce the inflamation in my back. I have started and stopped taking the Naproxen twice because I have a hard time keeping solid food down. I have never had this problem in the past, has anyone taken Naproxen and had a similar experience? I normally take it with about 8OZ of milk and yogurt.

Thanks to all for the info on Glucosamine. A friend of mines said she was suffering from knee and it gave her relief. I think I will try the liquid form. BTW Zoe, Were you banded by Dr Shayani @Loyola? Butta

Thanks for information. My doctor suggested removing the Fluid from the band if I needed to continue taking the Naproxen. My ortho doctor suggested vioox, but I haven't taken anything in a few days and have experienced only moderate pain. Hopefully I will last a few more days and then I will get a cortisone injection. It's been about 2 years since the last one, but the pain went away immediately. Hopefully another 10 or 20 lbs and I won't have to worry about an aching back any longer. A friend suggested Glucosamine in liquid form, but I'm not sure if it will help. Any one familiar with Glucosamine? Butta

I had surgery on June 28th, with my first fill I felt no restriction. So I had a second fill 3 weeks later. On yesterday evening after the fill I was able to eat and keep down a small piece of salmon and about a quarter of a bake potato. This morning I was unable to keep down an egg. How do I know if I'm too "full" or perhaps I need to adjust to the new way of eating? I read somewhere that you may feel more fullness in the morning? Butta

Michelle, I don't recall my doctor mentioning anything about taking specific medications. I have emailed my surgeon, in the meantime I have contacted my ortho doctor for some other medication.

I seem to be ok now. I still can't eat too early in the morning. So I normally start my day with a Protein drink. After about 9-10 oclock I can eat as long as I chew chew chew before swallowing. For the last 2 days I'm having a problem which seems to be related to the antiimflammatory drugs I am taking for back pain. I posted my problem/question in General Discussion and I have emailed my doctor. Butta

Gail, my experience was similiar. After about a week thing got better. I still have problems first thing in the morning. So now I normally start my day with a cup of coffee or tea and eat my first meal around 9 or 10 AM. To the experienced bandster any comments on how to eliminate the feeling of wanting to belch, but can't. Butta.

I had surgery on June 8th, with my first fill I felt no restriction. So I had a second fill 3 weeks later.
