August 29th I will be sleeved! I'm so stoked!
-
Hi Shell, I am a Shell too. Welcome to VST! I am not sleeved yet but I expect to have my surgery in the next month or so. I have been on the Kaiser meal plan since the end of April and have lost almost 30 pounds. My blood sugur levels and cholesterol have come way down and I already have so much more energy. I still have a long way to go but I have a taste of success and I'm not ready to get off the loser's bench yet. Congratulations on your descision to become healthier and extend your life. The members of VST are absolutely wonderful and so very supportive. Make sure you keep us posted on your progress and we will all be sending you prayers and well wishes on August 9th. Hugs, Shell

Crystal Light has pink or yellow lemonade. I prefer the original yellow and I actually buy the Walmart brand (less expensive). Hope this helps... Shell

Thank you all for your responses. Hopefully I will hear from them soon. Have a great Thursday all! Hugs

I posted this in the Kaiser Richmond thread but I received no response so I thought I would try here. Help please........ Just wondering if anyone else has taken the nicotine urine test with Kaiser? I was just told that it can take 3 to 4 weeks to get the results back. I took mine last Wednesday and I am going out of my mind waiting. Those results have to come back negative in order to schedule my appointment with the Case Manager. Not worried about the results since I quite a year ago in March, but the waiting is killing me. Just want to get this going already. Thanks all, Shell

Hi there, I'm waiting for an appointment to see Liz so I can get a surgery date. I will see if they can get in on the 15th or 16th. If I can get my way we can walk the halls together. I will keep you updated, OK. Hugs, Shell -
Getting sleeved August 8th
ShellBear replied to LisaM's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
OK, that sounds exactly like how my appointments have gone. Maybe they only do an Upper GI for certain health issues. WooHoo, I think this may mean that I could be sleeved sooner than I thought. So very awesome! Thanks for the response and by the way, we are neighbors. I live in Orangevale - right around the block practically. <3 -

Wow, you just saw the case manager last week and your getting sleeved that quickly. I had my Psych appointment last Tuesday and now I'm waiting for an appointment with Liz (case Manager). I really hope I move along as quickly as you are. Did they set you up for an upper GI? I had my EKG last Friday and I'm not sure what else they will require. Maybe we will be in Richmond doing the sleeve dance together. Hugs, Shell Oh yea, CONGRATS!!!! -

You look like a princess, congrats to you! -
Hi there, I haven't had surgery yet so I can't relate to the post op part. However, it sounds like you may be experiencing some anxiety. I could be way off on this but I do have some experience with the symptoms of anxiety and stress. You are only two weeks out and your body has been through a lot, not to mention the emotional stress that comes with such a huge, life changing event. Don't take any chances with your health, call your Doc and let him/her know what you are experiencing. If it is anxiety, they may be able to help you work through it. Take care and God Bless! Shell

Pre-Op Diet, what has your doctor said?
ShellBear replied to minikie's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Hi there, I have attached the Kaiser pre-op meal plan. It has really worked for me, but you have to really stick with it and weigh /measure everything. Good luck! Shell meal.plan.pdf -

Oh how I wish! Wednesday is actually my first initial appointment with Dr. Fisher. I still have a few hoops to jump through (Psych, labs, etc.). I'm actually hoping for late August or early September. Sorry for the confusion, I am excited to meet with Dr. Fisher though. I'm hoping we can jump start this process and get it moving quickly. Hugs -
I am using the Kaiser meal plan (attached) and I use myfitnesspal.com to log my meals and exercize. I purchased a small food scale and I use my measuring cups at every meal. It is working for me, I feel great. Good luck, you can do it!!!!!! meal.plan.pdf

When I have to, I use Smart Balance but I have learned that chicken, beef, or vegitable stocks work great when I saute veggies. I use olive oil cooking spray as well.

I'm on this site every day and on my scale sometimes three times a day (as if the numbers are going to change in three hours). I meet with my Surgeon next Wednesday, so maybe I will be able to relax a little after that is over. Sometimes I know I am driving my hubby crazy but I can't help myself. Glad to hear I'm not the only one obsessing. -
Being Treated Differently
ShellBear replied to buchannon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All these things are really sad and just plain irritating. But you know that old saying....."what do you get when you assume?.... an ASS of U & Me! lol Some people just live in a bubble and don't even try to open their minds and break out of their own little worlds. I'ts up to us to enlighten them...or just step over them and move forward. Just a thought Hugs to all -
Hey NorCals! Where is everyone from?
ShellBear replied to meggiep's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow, I actually grew up on Steven Avenue off Hazel. There was a chicken farm right behind our street. I went to Oakview Elementary, Louis Pasteur middle school, and Casa Roble High School. Small world huh? -

Greetings all, I am from Orangevale which is a little city between Sacramento and Folsom. I am in the beginning stages of my VSG journey and so excited to be getting a new start at a healthier life. I will be having my surgery at Kaiser Richmond with Dr. Fisher, that is after I jump through all the hoops and meet all their requirements. I have strapped om my puppet strings and I'm ready to go. I just love VST and all the wonderful supportive people! Thank you for allowing me to join your little family here. Hugs to all, Shelly -

Hi Kelly, I was wondering what tests Kaiser requires. I guess you answered my question. So, how bad was the EGD and Upper GI? Thanks, Shell -
