    Got Sleeved Yesterday

Congratulations, I hope you heal quickly! Welcome to the other side! : )
  2. Yea, it can really mess with the mind. Remember that you are getting smaller and the weight will continue to come off. I would say, try to stay away from the scale for a while, but I can't seem to do that myself so I won't even suggest it. Hang in there and we will continue to go through this journey together. I just love my VST family! God Bless!
  3. I'm with ya! I am a slow steady loser (about 10 lbs a month) but I am losing inches like crazy. I have gone from a size 22 pants, 3x top to size 14 pants and XL or L top. I have lost 70 lbs since May (pre op diet 45 lbs down) and 26 since surgery (8/29/11). I try not to let the scale stress me out, but it makes no sense at all when the scale isn't moving but my clothes are getting too big. Soo very confusing. But I am still extremely happy!

    Fresh Fruit & Veggies

Our Dietitian (Kaiser Nor Cal) says that the noises are caused by air moving around in the tummy. Nothing to be concerned about. It just seems louder now because the tummy is smaller and there is less "stuff' to muffle the noises. : )

Am I losing weight too slowly?

I average about 10 pounds a month so you have doubled that. You are doing awesome! Keep going. : )
  6. I have an extremely personal reason to ask you all to do this. Only some of you will and I know who you are. If you know someone who fought cancer and won, or fought cancer and passed away, or is currently fighting it please add this as your status for ONE hour as a mark of respect and in remembrance.

    Looking for 40's Sleevers :)

There is actually a whole forum dedicated to age groups. This is where you can get some great input from those members who are around the same age. I will be 41 in January and I am 10 weeks post op. Let me know if there is anything I can help with. Mushy Phase - Protein Rich Ideas

I ate a lot of chicken salad (Costco canned chicken) and egg salad. I also had some turkey or chicken chili pureed or chewed really well. : )

    G*d Da*n Chocolate!

LOL, imagine how much of this crap we would have eaten without our sleeves screaming at us. At least we can still enjoy the guilty pleasures to some extent. : )
  10. Amazing, you look awesome. Keep up the good work! :Banane55:

    Hi All!

Hi Tammy and welcome to VST. I am so glad that you are feeling better and starting to appreciate your new sleeve. I had my surgery August 29th and I also had a difficult start. Extreme swelling which prevented anything from flowing through to my sleeve. That meant that any liquid I tried to take in eventually found it's way back up & out. Needless to say, I was very sick and spent the first five days in the hospital. I had my surgery on a Monday and by Friday I was pacing the floors because I was soo ready to get the **** out of there. I am feeling great now and love the fact that 1 ounce of beef jerkey or any meat fills up my tiny sleeve. It is such a kick to think about how small my meals are now, just crazy! Enjoy this ride and have faith because the weight will continue to come off. The scale is moving very slowly for me now but I am losing inches like crazy. I think I move down to a smaller size every couple weeks. I am loving the clearance racks at Penney's and Ross! Welcome to our friendly little community and may God Bless You through this healing time! Hugs, Shell

    Thanksgiving Challenge....

Ok, I'm at 173 and I would love to lose 10 lbs by Thanksgiving. My Hubby's 50th Birthday is the day after Thanksgiving so I'd really like to surprise him with a new sexy outfit. Time to step it up!

    October 16 check in

The damn scale is hardly moving but I'm still moving down in my clothing sizes. It's just too freakin weird, how do we lose the inches but not the pounds? Working my way out of size 16 and eyeballing the 14s that are hanging in my closet.

    No No Food

No worries, it's our little secret. I think they say no alcohol "ever" because it can lead to snacking and of course, it's Kaiser - the whole Thrive thing you know - healthy living.
  17. I am about 7 weeks out and I have been losing hair for a while now. I just take it day by day and try not to stress over it, It helps when I remember that I have gone from a size 22 to 16 and moving rapidly toward 14s. Keep your chin up, it will be worth it in the end. Shell

    No No Food

I was told popcorn, corn, & celery are in the "never" category along with alcohol. But that's Kaiser Northern Cali.

    Surgery today!

Just take a deep breath and try to relax. What you are feeling is normal, we wait and wait, hover over the internet and this website for months, and then when our date creeps closer we begin to panick a little. I went through this too. Just remember all the reasons why you made this choice and try to focus on how healthy will feel as the weight starts dropping off. My prayers are with you today. You will be fine and after a few weeks of recovering you will feel great. God Bless, Shell
  20. Boy, he sounds as opinionated as my PCP. My Doc has no faith in WLS and doesn't hesitate to share his opinion with me. I plan to stick with him for another 6 months or so (post op care) and then find a new Doc. I don't feel that he should push his views on me and refuse to open his mind to what is best for my health. I hope you will choose to get another opinion because you need to do what is best for your health and your future. Good luck, Shell
  21. What reason did he give you for not placing the referral? You might try talking to him again. I actually poured my heart out in an email to my PCP, that was when he finally agreed to move forward. If you didn't qualify for the surgery I don't think she would have sent you to the overview class (she probably figured you would change your mind). Try again and if she won't budge then consider talking to different doc. I hope this works out for you, I waited for three plus years and just continued to gain weight and become more miserable. Hugs, Shell

    Finalist in Pumpkin Contest

I just voted for you as well. Good luck!
  23. My Kaiser PCP in Roseville refused to give me a referral for about three years and then I was finally able to convince him to send me to the overview class. He sent the referral to Richmond, but it was like pulling teeth to get him to do it. I should have just changed Docs untill I found one that would work with me. Any way, I really don't understand why your Doc would send you to the overview class if he/she never intended to send a referral to Richmond. That was a waste of your time and it just got your hopes up for nothing. You can file a complaint with Member Services and/or switch your PCP. I wish you luck and please don't give up, keep pushing forward til you get what you want! Take care, Shell

    Extra Attention

I have been telling people that I am on a very structured meal plan and excerising daily and it is working for me. As far as attention from the oppisite sex, personally, I know that the men I work with know me well and have known me for many years. That being said, I have had a little extra attention/comments but I choose to just take it as a compliment. Really, the only head that I want to turn is that of my hubby, so that is where I put my focus. Hang in there, the whole "newness" of your wieght loss will fade slowly and things will get back to "business as usual". Hugs, Shell
