Yeah for me if I eat the half a turkey sandwich (1 slice of 100% whole wheat bread) or the 1/2 of six inch (3in) Subway (wheat bread) that is usually all the carbs I eat. I haven't even tried regular bread I'm afraid too! But this is usually a treat if I do have this or if I'm on the go!!

Hey Mom, my surgery was 1 day after yours. I can only eat about half of the greek yogurt, but thats because I'm full. I am able to eat a half turkey sandwich on whole wheat, as well as a half of a 6 in. subway on wheat as well. When I eat those I feel guilty, (so not to often) but it's really not alot. I tried salad for the first time a few days ago and was only able to eat about 2 ounces of chicken and maybe a 1/4 cup of salad. At this stage I'm allowed to eat 1/2 cup. So thats where I try to stay if I feel full before, I don't finish the 1/2 cup. The tablespoon seems to little. My problem is finding time for exercise, which I need to start making a priority!!! I see the surgeon tomorrow so I hope I'm doing everything right. However, I don't write things down, but I may start just for my own good! Best of luck!

Hi everyone!! I'm wondering what everyone eats for Breakfast. I'm on solids now for over a week, but I seem to be eating something that is a no on my list. I like eating the greek yogurt, but my nut. says that I should be eating something more solid. I'm not a breakfast eater and the Greek yogurt gives me the Protein I need. I can't eat eggs everyday and I love cold Cereal but again its a no on my list because of the sugar and carbs. Please if any of you have any suggestions, I would really appreciate it!! Thanks...:thankyou:

What do you eat for breakfast???
Kristy replied to Kristy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Everyone, but the list I was given from my nut. says that I should be eating more solid things. I see everyone enjoying string cheese (love it) but didn't think I could eat it. Also cottage cheese is one of my favs to but again I'm told more solid things. Well I'm just going to see if I try other things like you guys are suggesting and if I lose then I wont worry about it, but if I don't then I'll worry and ask my nut. Thanks for the suggestions!!! -
YAY!!!! Congrats!!!

How long of a diet did you have to do for your insurance?
Kristy replied to Ready4aNewLife's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I didn't have to do a diet prior to approval!! some insurances require 3-6 months nutritional counseling/Diet. But I was lucky and got approved after all the other preop appointments were accomplished! (2 months from initial seminar) Good luck on your new journey!! -

1 Week Post-Op question??
Kristy replied to Jennifera1607's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know that when I had my surgery (5/3/11) I definatley felt that they were in my stomach working, kinda a weird feeling, but you can definatley tell they were working in there, so maybe that is what your feeling. As far as the numbness, I can't relate because I only had one incision and its in my belly button. Hope this helps, if not I wouldn't hesitate to call the doctor, I called my surgeons anytime I had a question, I told them I felt like a new mother with a newborn..LOL -
I never had a drain! I had no leaks or complication whatsoever, its weird how so many surgeons are different, but I'm happy with my surgeons, they did my entire surgery through my belly button, which is completely amazing to me and if some day I wanna wear that bikini I can and you'll never even know I had surgery!!

Hi everyone! I am 20 days post op and looks like I may have a small infection in my single incision (belly button). I went for my postop on Thursday and he told me the one thing they fear is infection in the incision at this point. Well this weekend I ended up with alittle green drainage from the incision and today I woke up with pain around the incision, So I called them and they believe its the start of an infection, so I'm glad I called right away!! Other then this little problem, everything else is great, I'm, loving meshy foods and I even went out to dinner this weekend for my birthday and had shrimp cocktail and mash potatoes...No cake.. but hey it's all worth it!!!

Infection in single incision
Kristy replied to Kristy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It turns out that I didn't have an infection in my incision, my surgeon says it looks great ( I thought the incision itself looked good too, was just concerned with the pain around the incision and the light green drainage)..but however he wasn't okay with the fact that I had the pain in my stomach and was feeling yucky, so he had a catscan and blood work ordered right away. It all came back good and the blood work showed no infection. He seems to think that I may have be alittle dehydrated, so I rested today and made sure to get more Protein in and I feel much better. As to the question of Jorge, I haven't had any fever and my incision is through my belly button so all my stitches are inside. The drainage has no smell to it, I laughed when my surgeon smelled it on thursday at my postop, but now I know why he did it. -
Funny that you are saying this!! I was just talking to my neice on Saturday about how happy I am I did this and that yeah I could have lost 30 pounds on weight watchers, but never in a month. Plus I had 120 pounds to lose, I don't believe that I would be able to lose that much weight on WW...This has been the best thing I could have done!! I wish you the best of luck!!
