    new girl on the block!!

Hi Bubbles, Have you checked it out with your insurance co. to see if they coved weight reduction surgery? If they say yes, Great your on your way to a new you! If they say no, you can appeal (you need to do this) after you exhaust the appeal process you'll have your band hopefully. If for some reason your employer has an exclusion on weight reduction surgeries (like mine did) you have the choice to continue the appeal process or be self pay. I chose to go ahead and pay first fight later. The total cost was around $13,500 that includes 1 year follow up too. It's twice as much as Mexico but I felt safer using Dr.Spivac out of Houston Tx. Well keep us updated O.K. TTFN

    New Girl Oct 6th 2004

Hi Amanda, I got the band placed in me July 23,2004 and am loving it! Seven weeks and 20 lbs. ! Energy galore! I could list everything I've done in the past seven weeks that I've wanted to do now for the past 2-3 years of my life, but I'll spare you. Sounds like your a little nervous............ Have you taken the time to look into other peoples stories? There is several websites to look at and chose from. They have hundreds of stories in them. Obesityhelp.com is one of them. Alot of them include before and after pics and are sooo incouraging to read. You learn alot reading them! I'll help if I can but i'm kinda new at all of this myself and encourage you to seek a "mentor" it could be this board if thats what you choose. This place has a pool of info floating in it! All on bandsters! Not the bypass, I really like that! Your gonna do great, you've started off good already just posting this request, it"s important to have a good support system. TTFN

Yeah well, we'll see if it gets to that point. Losing weight does alot of things for a person, if biking is one of them for me I'll give you some credit for it! It takes confidence for sure and you've got it! share some pics with us again soon O.K.

Allow me to say, you've got Taste! Fringe city! I love things with fringe hangin off it. I can picture you now ridin with all that fringe blowin in the wind. Where did you find a seat like that? By the time you get to the point that your leather, flaming, fringe jacket falls off you, you'll probly be ready for a nice new one, you'de have earned it! So, be kind to yourself and kick back and enjoy the rewards!Pampering yourself is a good thing when you work hard! Just to let you know, I married into a "rider family" and one of my goals is to be able to ride with my hunnys on his bike. He's always asking me if i'm ready yet, the answers always been no. So, one day He broght me home a little something.....A little Rebel! I still don't know what he was thinking. I've drove it a couple of times around the block, it's been parked for three tears now. My hunny and his two brothers with the two six year olds in tow took a week and went riding in the California Mountains a month ago and had a blast! I'll attach a photo so you can see. My six year old son is still reeling from the adventure! Thanks for sharing! I was curios....is riding something you do because of your hunny or is it something you do because you've always wanted to? Do you guys ever go on any bike rallys? I went to the Black Hills of South Dakota once. you know Sturgis....I was young and came home with a tatoo to show for the adventure! Looking forward to knowing you...... TTFN

    No cake...No biscuit

My first fill was 9-5-04 , 2 days ago, I tried to eat cake at a friendly dinner last night and nearly had a PB! I was more embarrased than anything, I think I visited the bathroom a half dozen times. Lisa :sick :sick

I used to eat chips GALORE! I eat a fraction of what I used to. This band offers me so much more control over what goes in my mouth. It feels good to quit eating when everyone else is still chowin down. I'm always concerned that I will fill up on those chips, and God knows, those chips are NOT the reason i'm up in that Mexican Restaurant. For some reason I CRAVE mexican food since my banding. I find myself in our local El Burrito at least twice a week! Last week it was three times! I don't plan on doin that one again because of how yucky I felt afterwards. I've been eating salad (when I can eat) for two days trying to clean myself out. Sounds yucky but tis the truth. Thank you ladies for bein dear angels tonight. I feel better already! Lolove Lisa

Your encouraging Marie, Maybe thats why I find myself at these sort of sites now days.....Thier full of people that have been there and done that. I apreciate the kind words. Remember how you felt at the loss of your first true boyfriend? Yeah, thats what i'm talking about. Tears spring to my eyes as I type these thoughts, which is not the norm for me. I try real hard to stay on the up side of things. I know this too shall pass.........it's gettin there thats hard.

I've wanted to cry several times since my surgery. I did the first week. Seperation anxiety I guess. I've been seperated from something that has been near and dear to me now for many years. I never realized how attached I was to food. The feeling of a full stomache would sooth me. The thought of a favorite dish excite me. Doctors orders to restrain myself depress me. I could'nt eat today........I feel like I've lost a Good Friend. I may shed tears from heartache today.......but hope tells me they'll soon be tears of Joy..

What is it about bread and it's fellow cousins that turn us on sooo much? I wonder if eating these things causes our body to release some sort of feel good hormone? I do miss bicuits and gravy or sopping up sauce with buttered bread or cinnamon rolls for B-fast or even a good sandwich. I hav'nt had one of those in almost 6 weeks! don't miss them enough to go back! My journey has just begun! If there is anyone out there that is holding off on taking the plunge cause of your first love (food) JUST DO IT!!! I waited 5 years and do wish I would'nt have.:think

Sue Thanks for the reply it may be that we will have that in common. That is no breads of any kind. I'm only at 1cc. and already having these kinds of problems. Before my fill I was eating anything....Ahhhh but such a small sacrifice for such a large prize, RIGHT! Chris, Wow! 3cc and you can eat pizza? You MUST have a different kind of band than me. I have the Gastric Adjustabe Lap-Band. It's good to knoe other peoples stories and experiences.I'm lovin this site! I'm in the process of posting pics tonight. I hope I am suceccful! By the way, I had a great day today as far as food goes! Went to a family reunion and had no probs at all with PB! I'm patting myself on the back right now can you tell? It took a little work and being more aware of what and how I eat. Still learning.....Lisa:p
