That makes me feel better! Thank you. Valentina
-
I just through a knee replacement in March, so I find that the surgery itself is not frightening me. It is the nausea I have heard about. I don't deal well with it. I never have. I will get through it and begin my new life, but the thought of being nauseous is a tough hurdle for me. I guess I'm just not a good "puker". Isn't it strange how different people have different fears? Valentina

I was wondering if anyone would pick up on the tune. It fits nicely, don't you think?? Thank you for the positive thoughts. The only thing that I am positive right now is that I AM HUNGRY!!!!!! Valentina :grouphug:

Thank you for the good wishes. To say I am not scared would be a lie, but I am determined to see this through. I want to thank everyone on this site for the wonderful support, information and fellowship that I have found here. I am truly humbled. Needless to say, I will be back after surgery with many more questions, concerns and uncertainties. I hope you will all still be here. I know you will. Thank you, Valentina :grouphug:

Thank you, Kelly! Make that a good size space on the Losers' Bench!! Valentina :grouphug:

Let your surgeon make the decision. Are you sure you are not having panic attacks?? That being said, wrap your head around --it is out of your hands. Let your surgeon know and he will make the decision. If you do have to cancel, your surgeon always has the option of putting you in before others or after others on another day. Keep your chin up. What will be will be. You will have your sleeve. Keep us informed, Valentina

I will now give you my critic's review of my liquid protein: I tastes like bar-b-q sauce with carmel syrup added. That's it exactly. Enjoy!!! It's still better just to chug it down sometimes that to drink yet again another sticky shake. Valentina :grouphug:

Advice Please!! Thinking about changing surgeons!!
Valentina replied to ashleyc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hate to be the Party Pooper here, but I can not state strongly enough--HAVE YOUR sleep STUDY. Sleep apnea is NOT a "forget about it" issue. My SO denied he had it for years. Finally when he ended up in the hospital with CHF, he had a sleep study done. Not only did he have sleep apnea but ignoring it for so long seriously damaged his heart.Sleep Apnea is a silent killer. One may not have ANY symptoms that they remember. Meanwhile your heart is being damaged. I say what is the point of rushing into having a sleeve to improve you life, just to cut that same life short by refusing to wear a CPAP at night? Think about it. If it's the cost of the CPAP, call around: Catholic Charities, your local hospitals, your insurance company, your doctor's office, your sleep study department, medical equipment wholesalers, medical supplies stores. It also might be that you may not need a full CPAP. You might just need some O2 at night. That you can get with an O2 take, regulator and hosing. --and once you lose weight you may lose the sleep apnea.-- Not always, but sometimes PLEASE, stop and think about it... Valentina -
Advice Please!! Thinking about changing surgeons!!
Valentina replied to ashleyc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think that you need to stop and take a deep breath. Why the rush? If you do indeed have sleep apnea then you need to have the sleep study and possibly a CPAP. Not doing so when you may need it could damage your heart and in the end, kill you. Now, think about just why you want to have a sleeve? Isn't to help you get and stay healthy??? It doesn't make much sense to have a sleeve now just because you can just to wind up with a damaged heart or dead, does it? Just take some serious time to think of what and why you are doing the things that you are doing. Search deep within yourself. That is where you will find your answers. Wishing you well, Valentina -
Okay, Freaking out time!!! Sugery Monday AM
Valentina replied to mnbsleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know of which you speak, "Sister Jewel". :grouphug: My surgery is Monday at 6am!! I, too have read all of the totally frightening posts of late. This is what I have decided todo:I have decided to allow absolutely NO negative speach to come out of my mouth. :tape: No negative speach to reach my ears,:lalala: and no negative writings to reach my eyes.:hand: Is that easy?:nono: No, but try to do so hopefully will keep me totally occupied until Monday morning!!! I even have decided to drive myself to the hospital,:car: so I won't have any tears of goodbye from my SO. I am a strong woman(I keep reminding myself). I would rather drive myself than endure the words of "just in case"... I realize that my plan may not work for you--hell, it may not work for me, but that is my plan and I'm sticking with it! Please keep in touch.:pray2: We will go hand in hand to the losers' bench. Valentina :grouphug: -
My surgeon has Ok's extra strength liquid Tylenol, but I would call your bariatric team. That is what they are there for. Good luck and stay in touch. Valentina

Valentina replied to settebee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

3rd day post- op difficulties
Valentina replied to bert's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Now, Bert, try to remember just why you "hired" your bariatric team. You paid them an extraordinary amount of money to perform a service for you. Let them complete their side of your contract. WHENEVER you have a pain, a twinge, are ANYTHING that your little voice says in not normal  ----CALL THEM!!!!!!:phone2: We on this site are full of useful and knowledgable information, but we are not the ones with whom you made your contract. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF, BERT.:bathbaby: YOU ARE WORTH IT!! Call your surgeon's team and then let us know what they said, so we can add to our personal information library. I really do care, Bert. That is why I suggest you call.:thumb: Get healthy and stay that way, Valentina.......................:grouphug: -
JanaKay, I would get a second opinion. Valentina

How about a masectomy bra just until you firm up a bit? Also some of the high end department stores have "fitters" who will be of a great help. --or a good sports bra... Valentina

Welcome! You have come to the right place, brotha!! The people here are supportive when we need to be, but make no mistake we do not hesitate to "hint" when you are about to "misstep". We understand your journey because it is one that we have all personally been challenged . Personally, I have found more support here than anywhere I have looked. --and that includes family and friends. Heck! We will become "family" . You just wait and see!! Welcome again. Valentina

Price Chopper also carries it. Have you tried "Miracle Noodles"? They are made from yam roots and taste like-----well like nothing. They pick up the flavor of whatever you serve over them. Take a look at the website: Miracle Noodles.com. They are actually fun to work with and great to add body to soups without adding anything else. They have : no calories, no carbs, no nothing. Let me know, Valentina

Hello Everyone! Newbie here!
Valentina replied to Rachel's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome!! Do you have to stay in-state for your surgery? Valentina -
Remember how you felt the day after your first day back in gym class in High School? You are using muscles that aren't used to being "noticed". Patience. To Thy Own Self Be True. Your weight loss will wait for you. Get yourself healthy. I do my exercising in a salt water pool. I have arthritis and have lost a knee to the nasty stuff. In the pool my new knee as well as my other joints feel no pain. I can do all the exercises that would do in the gym (one day a week) in the pool (three days a week) with more ease and no pain. My surgeon for my sleeve will allow me to go back to the water two weeks after surgery which is June 6th. It's worth a try, isn't it? Be kind to yourself. You deserve it. Valentina
