Valentina replied to Marie from Michigan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Miracle Noodles....0 carbs, 0 cal
Valentina replied to StacyS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've tried them and they can be quite an adventure. You have to remember that they really do not have any taste of their own. The take on the taste of whatever you put over them or put them into. I like to put the wee ones into Soup because they are extremely filling. Be sure to follow the directions and rinse, rinse, rinse. They do not get "cooked" so to speak. You simply add the rinsed "noodles" just before presentation. Try some, have fun, and enjoy. Valentina :grouphug: -
WWWWhhhhhhhhoooooooo HHHooooo! Way to go, Sista Jewel of June! Just wonderful!!!! Valentina :grouphug:

Just remember, they do not have much of a taste of their own. They taste like whatever you put on them. --but they ARE filling. Let me know how you like them. Valentina :grouphug:

Welcome Ronda!! You will find this site informative and above all--supportive. Jump around--peek here and there and don't hesitate to offer your two cents. More opinions the better. Again--Welcome!! Valentina :grouphug:

I made seafood scampi, Soup and spaghetti with Miracle Noodles. They really need a flavorful sauce because they have no taste of their own. The Miracle Noodle site also has some wonderful recipes. Have fun!!! Just be forewarned that their texture is a bit different. Buy a sample pak. That way you're not investing the family fortune. Valentina :grouphug: A JEWEL OF JUNE!!!

I tried them and they are alot of fun. You have to keep them in the fridge, and rinse, rinse, rinse. They have no taste of their own. They pick up the tast of whatever you put on them. I like them in Soups, because they are very filling with absolutely no calories. They have absolutely no nothing except Fiber. The consistancy is a bit strange and takes some getting used to. Keep it fun and have an adventure!! Valentina :grouphug:

Welcome! Fellow "Jewel of June"! :grouphug: I was also sleeved on 6/6. I am trying to get all of the 64oz of Water in a day, but am not quite making it yet. I feel like a sponge! You will find tons of information as well as support on these boards. Join in often. Another opinion is what it's all about  Valentina :grouphug:

Being nauseous was a major concern of mine. I don't handle it well--never have. My surgeon put a "sea sick" patch behind my ear before I went into the OR. Whether it worked for me or I just BELIEVED it worked for me, I don't realy didn't care. I have absolutely NO nausea and still don't. My sleeve "winces" whenever I drink something, but I anticipate that getting better. Happy Thoughts, Valentina

I am making my own Soups. I start out with chicken thighs, tons of veggies, poultry seasoning and cook, cook, cook . Then I debone the chicken and put everythin into the blender, add some milk and blend until smooth. It tastes just like my homemade soup--just looks yucky. Try it. Valentina

I, too had very, very little pain. I had my surgery and hernia repair 6/6/11. I did have a wicked backache, but suffer with Fibromyalgia and OA. I contribute the backache to those. I think sometimes we can talk ourselves into things that we really do not want. If you are one of those people, I would reccomend that you try to think of happy thoughts, and try to block all and any negative ones out. You know you will be fine. You've born children. The sleeve surgery does not come ANYWHERE close to that pain. Take care, keep us posted and THINK HAPPY THOUGHTS. Valentina :grouphug:

Count me in, Sistas! I turned 58 on Valentine's Day. I am one week out. Other than finding that I am suddenly lonely, I feel great. I actually had no serious surgical pain. --just a wicked backache. I can't help too much with the menapause questions as I had a hysterectomy when I was 40. I kept my ovaries though, so I did get to enjoy all of the lovely hot flashes. They seemed to have calmed their hot little heads this past winter. I hope they stay calmed. I just found this group. I am ever so happy that I did. Valentina

Hernia Posts
Valentina replied to Sleevie WonderLand's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon came back into my room after signing my discharge papers to let me know that he had repaired a hernia during surgery. I didn't even know I had had a hernia, not to mention having one repaired! I had no symptoms and had very very little surgical pain. Surprise, surprise, surprise!!! I guess you're just going to have to find something else to worry about. Valentina -
Getting Support from Family and Friends
Valentina replied to CaliforniaJenn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tread carefully. Do not treat their doubts and nonsupport lightly. I did. I was determined to have my surgery. I knew it was the right decision for me. I was sooooo sure and confident that when my SO told me that he couldn't handle it, I minimized his opinion. The results? --a call the morning after my surgery telling me that I was no longer welcome to live with him in his home (we had been together for 6yrs). Do I regret my decision to have my surgery? No. Do I regret not having someone to hug me? Yes. I will rebuild my life and some day, I'm sure this decision of HIS will not hurt so bad because I guess we were never on the same level of love and devotion. I will survive and as I rebuild, I'll be healthier and thinner! I'm just saying be sure. Be very sure. Good luck and keep in touch. This site is wonderful for not only info, but support as well. Email response from unjury

Great info, Thank you for your efforts. Maybe we don't drink Protein shakes after they have set simply because they look sooo gross. Of course a simple shake up fixes that , but still---yuck. Thank you again, Valentna :grouphug: -
12 days post surgery and still nauseous!
Valentina replied to kwikwits's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When in doubt, always call your doctor first! I don't know why people forget about that person who just fillet them, but that is whom you need to call first. That being said, of course we VST people are always hoping to support and help in anyway we can. Your nausea may be associated with your new sleeve, of course. It may also be that your old medicine regime is too strong for you post op. It may be time to cut back on some of your daily meds!! Nausea is also sometimes associated with a recent head injury. If you have banged your head or been involved in some kind of accident (in home or out) nausea is a warning symptom to----------CALL YOUR DOCTOR . Keep in touch, Valentina -
first day home from hospital.. HELP!
Valentina replied to Tamz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just take a deep breath.Relax!!:bathbaby: Yes. It is absolutely normal for the incision where the drain tube was to be sore. It's a hole in your body!! :crutch: Just keep it clean, and covered . It will be fine. Don't worry about the popsicles!! They are your friend!!! You can have MORE liquids than 2oz. That amount is just your goal. Enjoy!!! I know they have saved my days this week. I know tha Protein breaks down after awhile, so will not attempt to answer your question about that. I would suggest that you just relax and try to stay hydrated. That is your JOB right now. The protein game will come along after a bit. Relax, sip, sip, sip, and get aquainted with your new sleeve. Welcome to the Losers' Bench, Sista Jewel of June!!!!:grouphug: Valentina -
Thank you, and you are right my friend is truly my best friend and has been for many, many years. She is having trouble getting her Protein in during her working hours, so starting Monday I will start packing her lunches. I hope to come up with (with the help of this site and "EggFace" some creative protein packed lunches. It will give me a purpose .I am feeling short of feeling useful right now. I did try my first greek yogurt today. My new sleeve winced a bit, but was it ever good!!! Please, everyone, keep in touch. Valentina

Thank you, Kelly. I won't say that I am a happy woman right now, but today I only cried twice. That's improvement. My goal is to take a realistic look at just how happy I was and how happy I want to be in my new future. I AM MADE OF STERN STUFF. I'll get happy again. I promised myself and I never break promises. Sleeved on Monday (6/6) at UCLA
Valentina replied to mking82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, fellow June sleevers, I was sleeved 6/6. Today was my first full liquid day and I must say, the full liquids go down with less fuss than the clears. I don't know why, but that is how it is for me. I'm being very careful and "slow as it goes". Valentina -
