Tomatoes on Full liquid?
Valentina replied to Valentina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I craved it, made it as "full liquidy" as I could possibly make it and took about an hour to drink it. It was wonderful! Now, however I will be able to wait another week until I am pureed foods. That is where my salad drink probably should be. You are right--it was a healthy drink! Thanks for your input. Valentina -
Tomatoes on Full liquid?
Valentina replied to Valentina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sick of the Jello the first night! It just doesn't taste as good as it did pre-op. I don't know why there is such a difference when it comes to post-op diet stages.--and the differences are severe. There's one member here who reports having to be on full liquids for 5 wks. Yikes! All I can tell you is that my "summer salad" shake was full liquid--if only in my own mind. The flavors just exploded in my mouth!!! Of course I thnk I am addicted to fresh garden tomatoes, so I guess I needed a "fix". Now hopefully I can obstain until next weekend when I can go onto pureed. Then there won't be any question about my 'tomato shake". Keep in touch, and take care, Valentina :grouphug: -
I wish you nothing but sunshine and rainbows in your relationship--honestly. I know how wonderful it is to have a reassuring hug and/or a passionate kiss. I lost all of that when my SO of 5 1/2 yrs called me in the hospital the morning after my surgery and told me that I was no longer had a home with him. I was not to return. He is clinically depressed and told me that my having elective surgery while he is ill is extremely selfish. He said that I did not love him if I was able to do such a thing. So, here I am recovering at a friend's house, but feeling completely alone in the world. My children are grown and live away. I am completely lost and without a purpose. So, you see? Your life could be worse... Valentina

Just asking.. Dont Laugh!!!!!!!!
Valentina replied to Tamz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I , too like spinach pies. However, the ones that I have had had a crust similar to a pita bread.. I would not consider eating them until I got to the "regular" food stage. They are in no way soft or mushie. Just my opinion, but I'd rather wait than get sick or do damage Valentina -
Welcome, Joe! You are more than welcome here. Peek in here and there, gather tons of information and please never hesitate to ask a question (doesn't matter how silly you think it is). Above all, please do not hesitate to offer an opinion. Brainstorming is one of the corner stones of this site. I haven't been here long myself, but have found more support and great information than anywhere. Again, Welcome!, Valentina :grouphug:

Tomatoes on Full liquid?

I thought of that, but I did not want to ruin the clean, crisp taste of "the summer salad". I ate a greek yogurt about an hour later, so I hope the 18gr of Protein there will forgive me for my indulgence. Thank you for your input. Everyone's opinion is appreciated. Valentina :grouphug: -
New Protein drink I look forward to now!!
Valentina replied to Tamz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On my routine, instant individual packs of hot Cereal are NOT allowed. Check your list from your nutritionist. I bought the Protein shake that you are drinking and find it too fiscous. I only use one scoop at a time and will finish the container (too expensive not too), but will go back to "TopCare" from good of Price Chopper. It meets my requirements and I have fun "dressing it up" with xtracts and flavorings. Have you tried grits? Good luck, Valentina -

I know that there was no Protein in it, but it was sooooooooooooooooo refreshing. If I was going to a bar-b-q today, I would take a tumbler of it with me. That's how "summery" it is. Thank you for the input, Valentina quote name='anonynurse' timestamp='1308493576' post='166389'] Yep, if you strained it, it is a full liquid. Sounds delicious too! -

Thanx. It was soooooooooooooooooooo frick'n good to have something "vinegary". It was almost better than..... you know! I'm glad I'm not going to die and go to hell--just yet--for eating fresh tomatoes. Keep in touch, Valentina :grouphug: -
regular solid foods afterward
Valentina replied to Alexander's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND REMEMBER TO BREATH!!! You are trying to "eat the bear all at once". That is what I used to tell my canine obedience clients. Anyone can eat an entire bear---BUT ONE BITE AT A TIME!! Live and eat at the place where you're at in you new sleeve life. Conquer the tasks at this stage. The new tasks are waiting and you will do just fine as long as you have layed a solid foundation in the beginning. You can build on that solid foundation for the rest of your life. You will learn what needs to be done and what is not to be done. One step at a time. Slow down! Experience each level. I had surgery on 6/6 so we can walk this trail together. I had it cold--just like a fresh tomato and cucumber summer salad. I can't begin to tell you have the favors just exploded in my mouth!!!! After all those weeks of bland and sweet, the vinegar salad was ambrosia to the Gods!! I did strain it, so I hope I captured most of the seeds. I feel fine. It was the consistance of V-8 juice. Could you not speak with your Bariatric surgeon directly??? What a cluster f***k!! You poor soul. I would be calling the ER director and also the hospital ADM. Your treatment was completely unacceptable. Any hospital that does bariatric sugery needs to be equipped mentally as well as physically to treat bariatric patients. PLEASE keep us all posted! We all should use your experience as a learning curve. Good luck. Prayers going your way. Valentina

I don't know if I did a bad thing or not, but this is what I did last night: I am still on full liquids. For the last few days I have been craving my tomato salad. (I think I am addicted to fresh garden grown tomatoes!) Anyway, yesterday I blended one fresh tomato, one peeled cuke, a bit of fresh onion, a spritz of oil, a sprinkle of vinegar and seasonings. Then I blended it again and a third time. I strained it and sipped on it for about an hour. What a tast sensation!!!! I thoroughly enjoyed every sip!!! :hungry: Am I going to die and go to Hell? Valentina :grouphug:

I refer to those "saliva" moments as my "Rabies' Raptures". I remind myself of a wild fox I once saw who had rabies (poor thing). My father put it out of its misery, but I will always remember all of that foaming and saliva coming out of its mouth. Looked just like me when I have my "Rabies' Raptures"! --even the wild look in my eyes.. Valentina

I went alone. I needed someone to pick me up, but even then I drove home. Good luck and keep in touch, Valentina

Passing a kidney stone is the closest a man will ever come to experiencing labor pains and giving birth. Gives you a WHOLE new admiration for the mother of your children, doesn't it? If you have no children then respect for your own mother!!! Valentina

+5 lbs since surgery
Valentina replied to FlawedMan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is more normal than not. It's from all of the IV fluids that are pumped into you. Relax, take a deep breath and try that scale thing in about three days. Then let me know... Valentina :grouphug: -
Logging my husband's food
Valentina replied to meggiep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a real eye opener, isn't it? Is he the type that will eat like that daily and get away with it??? How unfair is that? You're doing great all by yourself. I've been peeking.. Valentina :grouphug: -
Welcome to the "Losers' Bench", Jax!!!! Congrats on your new sleeve. You are officially a "Jewel of June"!!!! Valentina :grouphug:

When in doubt about ANYTHING--CALL YOUR DOCTOR. That's what you hired him for. Everyone has a different post-op path. You need to follow the one you doctor made for you. Go ahead and call him/her. Valentina

My personal opinion of the day: GET OUT OF THAT HOSPITAL!!! I think that a person once physically ready to go home, will do better at home. We HAVE to move more. Women are "care givers". We will take better care of ourselves than a medical staff can with dozens of patients to take care of. If you have no medical reason to be there--GET YOURSELF HOME. Also, hospitals are full of nasty germs and infections. Go home as soon as you can where you will be much, much better off. Valentina

sleeve/sleeve or sleeve/RNY marriages?
Valentina replied to chef neil's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It is too soon to know what life has in store for me. I only had my surgery on 6/6. I am beginning to get pis*ed, so I guess that's a good sign! My SO was (is) mentally ill. I just have to convince myself that no matter what I did, I could NOT cure mental illness. I find that I still worry and care about him, but NO "normal" human being could do what he did to me just hours after having 85% of my stomach removed. --at least I hope not! My daughters are 38 and 28. They are my support system along with my life long best friend with whom I am living with right now. Where will I end up? I don't know. I have a blank canvas. I can not tell you how happy I am for you. You and your wife are more fortuneate that maybe either of you can appreciate. NEVER take eachother for granted. Tell her and show her every day. Keep in touch, Valentina -
sleeve/sleeve or sleeve/RNY marriages?
Valentina replied to chef neil's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Mine left me the morning after surgery (I correct myself here: he called me in the hospital and told me not to come "home"). I AM sincerely happy for you though. It's nice to hear that "happily ever after" still excists. Just NEVER take it for granted. Valentina -
Keep us posted. You're in good hands. You trust your doctors. Take a deep breath and KEEP US POSTED. Valentina
