Maybe it's time to do a "pros/cons" list. I bet you that when you get done the pros will FAR outnumber the cons. Do it and let me know how it comes out. You've done the hard decision making. Now it's time to leave the details up to the professional that YOU chose to do what they have be trained and educated to do for you. The waiting is one of the worst parts. There's nothing more that you can do--except wait. Keep busy. Be sure you have everything ready for your first day home. Have your house clean, have your liquids on hand and handy. Have the care of your pets taken care of for just a couple of days. Have reading material on hand. Try to find someone to walk with you . Not only is walking more pleasant with company, but sometimes after surgery some folks are a bit unsteady. You got this! You know it. I know it. Keep posting and venting. That helps some pre-operative nerves. Take a deep breath and carry on with the carrying on! Maybe it's time to do a "pros/cons" list. Trying not to be angry
Valentina replied to salmon77's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
No, Sweety. You said it all just right. -
Quest chips are ok in a pinch. My favorite "chip" is Mr. cheese O's. I eat them as my post-swim snack. I get mine from Amazion. They aren't cheap. I also like some of the Kay's Naturals Protein bites. Are any of these chips soy based?? I am soo allergic to the nasty stuff...

Am I ever going to wake up feeling good?
Valentina replied to Caycee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That's great news! Just waking up should be welcomed with feeling good. Not waking up would be the bummer! -

PLEASE someone tell me how long this nausea lasts....
Valentina replied to animallover1247's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not every nausea medication works the same for everyone. Contact your surgeon and let him/her know what's going on. I'm sure there will be something that will help you. Feel better and keep posted on how you're feeling. Prayers going up for you! -
New Sleever Questions
Valentina replied to Chillivanilli's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not a Water drinker. Never have been, probably never will be. We have Sulphur water and although it is very healthy for one, this one can't stand the smell of it. I drink decaf peach tea and remember doing so right from the start. I also drank clear berry flavored Protein drinks. They are a wee bit syrupy, but better than water---and you're getting added protein. Good luck and keep on sipp'n. You'll get this! -
That's exactly what I made last night. My daughter brought a box of thin mints home from work. Rather than choke her , I made chocolate Protein shake and squirted some mint extract into it. Not bad! Not a thin mint, but it got me through a near disaster!!!

Yes, it could be gas or, or, or, or..... If you're in pain enough that it is really bothering you, CALL YOUR SURGEON. That's what after care is all about. Every patient has the right to be pain free as much as the pain is manageable. Don't guess. Go find out, so you can address it and get rid of it. Take care and be kind to yourself. You're the only "self" that you have. Prayers going up for you.

Are these with regular chips in your store? Or a different one? What section does your store have this in? I found it in the "gluten free" section of the baking isle. I also found it in the "natural food" store.

Is there no Physical Therapy pool near you? With your joint pain, I don't think you would have any difficulty getting a RX for Aqua P.T.. From there most P.T. pools will let you join the pool on an ongoing basis for a monthly fee. (my insurance company reimburses me the monthly fees as long as I completed the P.T. program). Or--how about a YMCA or an university? If not, I bet you soon would be able to really swim fast if you had an alligator chasing your arse! Really, I feel so pain free in the Water. Check it out. It'll be well worth your effort.

I found the Nutritional Yeast that I first heard of on this site. I use it on my veggies, salads, and broths. It has only 45cal/2 Tblsp, and 8gr of Protein. The taste is cheesy, bready, or nutty depending what I put it on. It was a great find for me. I can have more veggies without sacrificing protein.

Isn't the pool a wonderful place? I am more pain free there than anywhere else. I am finally done with Aqua P.T. this week. I joined the pool, now as a member when I found out that my insurance will reimburse me for my pool membership. I tried full swimming strokes yesterday, but it brought shooting pain from my lower back (where I had my surgery) down both legs. That's ok. I met with my trainer and he made a program for me to exercise and keep stretching my back. I will be full swimming stroking before long! As soon as my orthopod releases me to exercise in the gym itself, I will be doing three days a week in the pool and one in the gym. I'll be back surf fishing in time for the Striper run! yeah!!!!

Oh, I don't know about that. I think if you had a leak you would really be down and out sick. If you truly believe you have a leak then you need to see your surgeon "yesterday". Really get in there and see him/her. Take care and feel better. -

Tried shrimp cocktail & got SO NAUSEOUS!
Valentina replied to theladyslipper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't tolerate anything spicy. Neither cocktail sauce, nor ginger sauce would stay in my stomach long. I would suggest that you try shrimp grilled either plain or with just some lemon. Lemon always seems to settle nicely. Worth a try if you love shrimp. Good luck! -
Support is SO important. I realize that we all are walking this WLS path for our health and much of the journey has to been done alone. But, support of one's loved ones is sooo important. Without it journey can be like walking through a dark forest at night during a thunderstorm. Fear and doubt comes from all directions. We need some one there to "anchor" us.--to tell us that we are not alone-that we can make this journey successfully.--that we are indeed worthy.--that we don't have to be quite so frightened while they are by our sides. Time for a heart to heart. Explain just how important her support is to you. Maybe she is afraid too.--afraid that YOU will change and not want her anymore. Who knows where our fears come from? They don't always make any sense. They just feel awful and are terrifying--real or not. Together. You two will make this journey together. You just need to get on the same page of supporting each other because you BOTH are making this journey--just in different ways. Keep posting. We care . Prayers going up.

I don't think it was meant to be an insult
Valentina replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Singles Forum
Take a breath. Be kind to yourself. You got this. You just haven't realized it yet. You've had your share of years of self doubt about your body. Now this self confidence in the "new you" will take a wee bit of time to get used to. Rely on your instincts. I feel you have really good ones. Nothing but sunny days and starry nights for you, friend.(and your new friend). -
Great job! We have to pick our battles. Was he out of line? Sure was! Would I have liked to take him to task for his unprofessional behavior? Hell Yeh!!,,but what you did was perfect. So, call back on Monday and maybe be just a wee bit more nudgingly assertive. Great job!!! Great job! We have to pick our battles. Was he out of line? Sure was!
