What a wonderful life you will have with your two best friends. When everyone else fails you, they will be there for you--forever--and a day. Unconditional love is what a dog will freely give you. I am soooo envious, but at the same time so overjoyed for you. Let the good times roll!!!!

Just Wondering....
Valentina replied to rydersmama's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My two year old grandson and I weigh ourselves every day. He is learning his numbers so was upset when we "lost" my "2". I don't know if I explained "onederland" to his satisfaction, though. He really loves his "twos". Weighing every day is "our" time and I'm going to enjoy it while he is little and still wants to spend time with "Granny". -
I like the broth from the won ton soup and add nutritional yeast to it. The added flavor is tasty --put that with the added 7gr of Protein and it's a win/win. I also love eggplant with a side order of garlic sauce for dipping. --ready in twenny meenets....

If you're looking for a waterproof tracker, check out the Garmin Vivosmart HR. I love it! It's completely waterproof so I don't even have to take it off to shower. It buzzes to remind you to move if you haven't walked a certain number of steps in an hour (great for me as I have a desk job and a tendency to get 'in the zone' and not move for three hours), you can have it push your mobile notifications to it, you can get your local weather, as well as the typical trackers like steps, stairs, and sleep! The Garmin Connect mobile app also has a super sleek interface and I love it! Thank you for the info. My daughters bought me a Fitbit HR for my birthday and I love it. The daughters spent days doing research and finally found a waterproof (pool proof) Fitbit HR on Amazon. There was a "waterproof" sticker on the front of the box and another "waterproof" sticker next to the code bar on the bottom of the box. The pamphlet stated how many feet under the Water a diver could go and still have the Fitbit remain waterproof. I have worn it the pool three times a week since Valentines' Day without a single issue. I am extremely pleased with it. Now, I hear from many that Fitbit HR is not waterproof--only water resistant. I called Fitbit and spoke with a supervisor, Marc. He insisted that the HR or any Fitbit is NOT waterproof--only resistant. I took pictures of the box and the two "waterproof" stickers and faxed the pamphlet to him. He had absolutely no idea what's going on. Even though, I never asked, Fitbit mailed me a new Fitbit HR. Keep in mind that I am very satisfied with my original HR and was not willing to send it back. Marc--the supervisor didn't want me to mail it back. He just said that he felt "obligated" to send me another one. So, now my daughter (my other daughter already had one) now has a Fitbit HR. I have kept my "waterproof" one because that one was the gift from my girls---and it is "waterproof". Has anyone else heard of a "waterproof" Fitbit being sold on Amazon?? Did Anyone Start Eating Solid Food Before They Should?

May God bless you and help you to heal whatever has embittered your hearts. May he also help you to feel the need to do research of the facts of WLS before speaking of it to others who are seeking information and guidance. It is much better to say nothing than to give wrong information. That can be dangerous. God bless you. Have a blessed day. May God bless you and help you to heal whatever has embittered your hearts. May he also help you to feel the need to do research of the facts of WLS before speaking of it to others who are seeking information and guidance. It is much better to say nothing than to give wrong information. That can be dangerous. For now, you are dismissed. God bless you. Have a blessed day. -

The posters I responded to where not supporting. They were criticizing and on top of their negative statements they did not even know their facts. There are many ways of "pitching a ball" to get it to home plate. Whacking it over the batter's head is NOT the best way to do it. On this day, My opinion and how to be supportive AND pleasant. It's not difficult. Try it sometime. - -

I'm 100% with you on this one. @@pedro Valle-Iclan. People can say we are browbeating, but going along with someone and saying "It's ok" is why so many of us ended up like we did in the first place. Be accountable! I spent basically my entire life thinking the way to comfort myself was food. When I was a little girl, I would come home from school crying, because the kids were making fun of me because I was fat. Know what my mom did? She gave me oreo Cookies to comfort me, or a donut, or a twinkie, or a piece of cake. I don't give a hoot if I'm considered popular or not here, I'm so over the popularity contest here. If you ask a question you're going to get an honest answer and opinion. That's all it is though....MY opinion, entitled to it, just as everyone else is to their own. Why have the surgery if you start cheating after losing what...18 lbs? Makes no sense to me at all. You have a hell of a long way to go. I'd get into therapy immediately, especially before you rip that tiny stomach open. *still shaking my head* P.S. I got set straight by a regular, that this is NOT a support group, when I first started coming here. I don't treat it as such since that time. I have read and re-read this thread several times in hope of reading something, --anything positive posted from the above posters that I am responding to. Instead, all I have read is ridicule, sarcasm, and defamation---oh, and ignorance. BP IS a support group. We are here to support one another, and hopefully advice through our own bumps in the road. Can you not read the call for help from the original poster? She is asking for help, not for your venom, and that is all I am feeling--venom being spewed onto a questioning, stunned victim. If you are ignorant about the different WLS, please, do NOT post as if you do. That does more harm than good.--and speaking so, makes you appear arrogant and quite "stupid". Leave the advice giving to those who have knowledge and heart to speak of such things. Please,Please: "If you can't improve upon the silence--don't" To the original poster: Please, do not judge this group by the two posters that I am responding to. BP as a whole is a marvelous group of caring people who want nothing more than to help you to succeed in your journey. You may need some "turn about" guidance, but even then it will be done in a caring and heartfelt way. Try reposting your question in a few days, maybe rephrasing it a wee bit. --Don't give the "negative nuggies" any ammo to fire at you. In the meantime, call your surgeon's office or your NUT and ask their advice. They will be able to guide you and get you back on the correct path . Prayers going up for you. -
Salty taste in my mouth

Any change in medication/vitamins? Is there any chance you could be dehydrated? If it's noticeable enough to you to be a bother, give your MD a call. Please, let us know what's go'n on with you, my friend. Feel better. -

Fingers, toes and eyes crossed for you and your new little one. I've taught canine obedience longer that ol' Cesar has been on this earth. Most of what he says makes sense. I have NEVER used treats while training, nor did I ever allow anyone to use treats--or those annoying clickers. A dog should work with you because he wants to ==because of the bond the two of you have built and he/she knows that he/she will get all kinds of "lov'n" when the exercise is performed correctly. With an older dog, it just takes more patience and a great deal of common sense. When you get home with your new fur baby and have any questions, just ask me. I like to think that you could not come up with a problem that over the years my dogs have not presented to me, but if yours does, I have a network of wonderful, knowledgeable "dog folks" who are available to "round table". Good luck, and above all---make it fun!!! Patience/common sense---Patience/common sense and a GREAT DEAL OF DOG/WOMAN RESPECT. If you want it to work bad enough and are willing to put in the work--just like WLS--your new "bonded" family will live in harmony and peace---and make you smile each and every day.

I use a straw for just about every drink. When I'm driving, I use a straw to sip hot coffee. I find that I am less likely to have a hot spill if I use a straw. If sipping is the goal, sipping through a straw makes more sense to me. But, as always, I recommend that everyone follow their own bariatric plan.

It's a shame you don't know what the yorkie is mixed with. That would be of great help. Remember, Yorkies were raised to be ratters. They are feisty and "determined". Once they have their mind on a "target" it can be very difficult to get them "off scent". They are not always "group friendly". They generally want to be sole ruler of the roost. If your other dog will "stand down" and let the new yorkie have time to blend in, then you will have two great companions. Paps are lovers and cuddlers. Their idea of hunting is playing with a toy or just being silly. They make wonderful pets and are quite sturdy. They are more "group friendly" It will be up to the Pap to decide the harmony of your combined home. It is doable with a great deal of love and patience. Good luck. It sounds like a fun time to me!

Good news? The platinum/diamond ring that John made for me just before his suicide fell off my hand in the pool today. Thankfully, two goggled men found it for me on the bottom of the pool. Today would have been John and my 15th anniversay. Is this a sign to "let go", or just that my hands are shrinking?
-
I am so sorry. Tough reminder of harsh times. Thank goodness for well timed goggled men, though. You have grit and backbone. Take that ring and put in on a necklace and be proud of what you have done with yourself and remember the good times and know that future good times are ahead. I agree fully on the "Thank God for BP friends". I'm alive and well because of some of them.
-
OK, so now I'm in tears. --good tears for new found friends and feeling humbled by their compassion for a perfect stranger. I keep saying, "Thank you", because right now I lack the verbiage to express my gratitude. I'll get through these reminders of days gone by. At least now I am allowing myself to feel them. I am no longer pushing my memories deep within and not dealing with them. One at a time, I am facing each painful memory as they reappear. Sooner or later they have to end---don't they?

Take a deep breath, my friend and do what you have to do. Try to let go what you can't control and give over to your surgeon. He/she will be able to get you on the right path. Have faith. Please, post often. We care. Prayers going up for you.

Discouraging family member......
Valentina replied to Scarolann's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Choose you battles, my friend. Back in the day---when your aunt probably remembers WLS, people who had it had AWFUL side effects--like craving rusty nails and dirt to eat. Many of the WLS patients died. This may be the reason for your aunt's concern. It's not that she doesn't love or care about you--she's just frightened for you. Time to show some respect to your elders without caving. You've made up your mind. She's not going to change it, but you do NOT need to be hostile or to alienate her. Maybe a sit down over a cup of tea--just the two of you. Try to ease HER concerns, in hopes that later down the path, she will be able to ease yours. The best way to prove your point is to have a happy and healthy WLS journey. -

We share a common memory. I, too remember "physical day" in school when I was in the 4th grade. I remember being the ONLY one who weighed 100lbs. In fact, I weighted 104lbs. I can see the slider on the scale going beyond 100 as if I was still standing on it. From that day, "I WAS FAT". I never considered myself fat before that day. There wasn't a thing I couldn't or wouldn't do. I could play baseball better than any of the boys and could out "farm work" any of them too. That day changed my self image. It seems to me now, that is also the day when my girlfriends and I began to grow apart. They went for pink teddy bears and ribbons, while I went for animal husbandry, sports and of course ,--fishing. Things that I could and did excel at and still be fat. Interesting, isn't it, that one day---that one singular day meant so much me, but at the time, meant nothing to so many. -

What would you do?
Valentina replied to needtorecover's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You already are "speaking" to him---by setting a good example of how WLS can help. When he's ready, he will find you. Then you can have a truly meaningful conversation. He's 70yrs? So??????????? Does he have a dementia of any kind? If not, he has made his life's decisions this far. Don't treat him like he's feeble minded. He will resent the treatment--and you. Wait until you are 69yrs. Being 70 won't seem old at all! -
Protein, protein, protein!
Valentina replied to candykane88's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am all about Quest Protein drinks and bars. I like the vanilla and add whatever extract to have: root beer, mint, rum, orange,, raspberry, lemon, anise, cherry, Peanut Butter, ... get the idea? The salted caramel is good too, but not as an everyday--a bit too sweet. The chocolate shake tastes just like a chocolate shake--image that! I have a Quest bar for lunch on the days I swim. I like the numbers, but not as a daily thing. GNC sells samples, which I think you are doing the right thing by purchasing those first. Also with the Quest Protein, there are numerous recipes which are delicious. Even my grandsons love to eat them! Good hunting and welcome! -

Would I know if I had a leak?
Valentina replied to bobr68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like a light allergic reaction to me. But, as in all things: If it concerns you enough to post here, call your surgeon's office. That way, you will get the correct answers and be on the way to feeling physically and mentally better much faster than just guessing. Feel better.
