    dead inside...

My heart bleeds for you. My tears are being shed for you. I know your pain. My S.O. committed suicide the day of my WLS. I am now closing in on the 5th anniversary of that day. I am still in therapy and only this past Jan. did I reach the point where I can pick up and carry on. Time will sooth the pain, but it will be with you forever. Everyone grieves in their own way and there is no wrong way to do so. I cancelled my therapy sessions several times of the years. I found that when I am just about ready to "get on", John "visits" me less often. I feel that if I "forget" him and start living my life to the fullest, he will no longer come to me when I am asleep or in meditation. I am, through a wonderful therapist, beginning to "relive", and you will too---in your own time. In your own way. Feel the feelings. Shed the tears. Scream when you have to and NEVER be ashamed of doing any of it. It is (my opinion) your grief trying to find a release--to let go. Just consider this: What great help you will be able to give your granddaughter after you become "Grandma" again and can share your memories of her dad when he was little like her? You may even be able to guide her out of the grieving darkness once you have found your way yourself. Take care of yourself, my friend---THEN you will be able to help her. Prayers going up for you. I will light a candle for you and your granddaughter tonight--right next to John's.

    Unfounded Statistics & Percentages

Actually, I "know for a fact" that the percentage of statistics on the internet that are made up on the spot is 97.37% ! Please get your facts straight...

    Oh, the lying!

You believe your mother reacted "badly" because she was fearful that she might lose her "personal support"? How sad is that? I'm so sorry. There went my smile for the day.
  4. Valentina

    Oh, the lying!

Silly me, but if I were to go into that much detail I would just say I had surgery. It seems much easier. I'm still chuckling. Thank you, my friend for my first smile of the day!

    Oh, the lying!

Halleluiah !!! Question: How'd "speaking sternly to your 93yr old mother" go? I have always been of the mind to be open about my surgery. Once one starts "lying through omission", or "just telling a little white lie", or "just telling a select few", the web of gossip mongering starts--in my opinion. The people who one doesn't tell, once they find out (and they will) could not only be hurt because you "didn't trust them enough " to tell them the truth, but will start filling in incorrect information just to appear that they were indeed members of "the select few" that you did share with. My memory is not good enough to remember who I told what, so I simply stick to the facts. Once ASKED, I will share my journey. "One story fits all". My opinion.

    Unfounded Statistics & Percentages

I couldn't agree more. Unless one is the personal physcian of person asking the question, there should NEVER be any medical advice given. EVER We can give our "opinion", but our comments should reflect that fact--that what we suggest is ONLY our personal opinion. I believe and hopefully convey, that if one is concerned enough about an issue to post it on an internet site, then one first needs to CALL THEIR MD'S OFFICE. As far as percentages go, every person is personally responsible to do their own research and only take what they read here as an incentive to double check the "facts". I never take "percentages" posted on this site as fact, ever. But then, I've always been lousy with numbers. Thank you for caring enough to post on this issue. Take care.
  7. The title of her thread: "So Confused. Newbie here/help". Find "New Content" and scroll down until you fine the thread. I really think she would appreciate hearing your sad, but informative story. Sorry for the delay getting back to you. Grandsons... I thank you in advance for your wiliness to "talk" to her.
  8. I think you just DID answer the question. Well done, my friend. Use your exact verbiage. You get it and YOU GOT IT!
  9. Wow! Thank you soo much for posting the video/article. Hopefully it will help some folks who have not yet booked their surgeries. I know many sleevers have success stories when going to Mexico, but as for "me and mine"? We'll stay in the ol' USA. Where if one does have a "problem" there is an attainable legal system to help. Wow!
  10. I would recommend you get samples of several. Buying the best one in the world won't do you much good if you can't tolerate it. GNC has sample size pouches of Quest Protein powder, and probably others. Quest is the one that I use, so that is why I know about it. "Bariatric Choice" also has sample sizes of many of their products--some of them free. Keep in mind that your "taste" might change after surgery, so what you like pre op, you may hate post op. Happy Hunting!

    Whey protein & heart palpitations

Please, let me know what they say. I guess we will just have to "weird" together.

Tuna Time! Share Your Protein Recipes Here!

I really don't enjoy canned tuna since the day I caught a tuna myself, and ate sushi grade tuna for the first time. I am now spoiled for life! That reminds me: It's time to go fishing!!

    Whey protein & heart palpitations

Nay, you're not weird. I get the "flushes" and hot flashes when I ingest whey products. I've grown to accept them as my own personal heat source. However, if you're concerned about heart connections, by all means call your bariatric team. I'd be very interested to hear what they say. Take care, my friend.
  14. I think after carel is crucial. How long after surgery do you stay at the site? What happens if there is a surgical emergency? What factors are leading to you pondering having your sleeve surgery there? Think about it--long and hard. Wishing only the best for you. Prayers going up.
  15. I had my sleeve surgery in Middletown. Does that count?
  16. I bought a "hemi" pillow. It's the cushion one uses after hemorrhoid surgery or childbirth. It takes the pressure off of the "peri-area", including the tailbone. I had to use numerous pillows, but was able to sleep on my stomach after tucking this one here and that one there! It was worth the trouble to get a good night's sleep. Feel better.

    HIPPA Violation

Obviously, YOU did not read my first post. Please go back and read it! The OP, herself stated that she worked within the same health network. I TRIED to point out that before she went into litigation she may want to explore if there was anyway the HIPPA laws and the alleged violation would not hold. As a Newbie, you obviously haven't read many of my posts. Before you comment negatively about me, maybe it would behoove you to do so. Prayers going up for you.

    Red light tanning bed

Ask your MD. See what she/he has to say about using them.
  19. Try it on. If it hurts or is bothersome in anyway, take it off. Problem solved. (I wore mine home) Don't worry. You got this!

    Length of Stay in Hospital

I went home the same day. --and no, I would not have done anything different.
  21. There has been a recent post, "So Confused. Newbie here/help". Please take the time and offer her, "the rest of the story". I believe that sometimes we are so desperate for WLS that we only hear the "good time" stories. I think the poster could really benefit from some communication with you. Thank you.

    "You're too skinny"

Thanks! No. Thank YOU! I might be a wee bit older than you, but I "ain't" blind...
  23. I came home from the hospital with a RX for Ducolax/Colace and have taken it ever since. What's one more gel tab? It's only a natural softener, so I'd rather take one/day than suffer unnecessarily . That was 5 years ago.

    Ladies....

Very interesting. Thank you. The article refers to protein/calorie calculations from, "The fitness world". Now I know where your numbers are coming from. Very interesting to see how, "the fitness world" and "the medical world" differ on such things. Thank you for posting the article. Very interesting.
