    Getting Nervous!

Why not call your surgeon's office and double check about the endoscopy and cardiology requirements? If you don't have to have them you will have peace of mind about the process going forward immediately. If you DO have to have an endoscopy +/or a cardio clearance, then you can get those scheduled and completely ASAP. I wouldn't wait until my next appointment to find out that time was wasted because someone forgot to check a box. Good luck with your journey. It is an exciting one to say the least!
  2. If you are having enough pain to be concerned enough to post about it, CALL YOUR SURGEON. He/she is the one to advise you and put your mind at ease--if your pain is "expected". If you need to be seen, or if you need a different pain med(not one pain med fits all), then SHE/HE is the one that can do that. Take care of yourself. You're the only you that you have! Leave the medical issues/concerns with the professionals that you just entrusted your life with. You are worth it!!! Call your surgeon, please and let us know how you're doing. We care about you, my friend.

    Day after pill

Call your MD! Never, ever take medical advice from this site. All we can give you are suggestions based on life experiences. All medical advice needs to come from your MD. We try to be supportive, and helpful, but we have limits to what we should be saying to other posters. Please call your MD and let us know how you're doing. We're not just nosy. We really do care. Prayers going up for you.

    Surgery is tomorrow morning!

My advise: GO TO BED!!!! You will start the most exciting, and rewarding journey of a lifetime in the morning! Take a few moments and write down what you are feeling on this the eve of your WLS journey. It will a priceless resource when you hit a "bump in the road" along the way. Now, young ladies, GO TO BED! Warming up your spots on "The Losers' Bench". See you there!!

@ Alex: Fresh tuna fresh on the boat----one fish, one fillet knife, optional--one lemon! Enjoy!
  13. What did I sacrifice? A life with my soul mate, John. He was sooo opposed to me having WLS that he committed suicide the morning of my surgery. I miss him every second of every day. The moral of my story: PLEASE do everything you can and then some more to make your S.O.ers "comfortable" with your WLS. They really deserve have a chance to voice their opinion/objection/enthusiasm. After all, they are your "partner", right? I strongly believe that one's S.O. should have a mental evaluation, just like ours before WLS. What harm could it do? ----and if having an eval can make it easier for them to wrap their heads around you WLS. I really believe that our SO's have a right to be heard--their fears, their expectations, their dreams. On this day---my opinion. Valentina
  14. I really am "the odd one out". I was probably the happiest fat woman on the planet. I knew no other way of life. My great grandfather weighed 450#, my grandmother tipped the scales at 300# and my mother weighed 350#. I always believed that that was "normal" for some of us folks. I can't think of too many things that I couldn't do if I really wanted to do it. (I never gave much thought to becoming a ballerina or a jockey so they don't count ). I played competitive baseball, played classical cornet, raised, groomed and showed, and judged standard poodles, skied, skated, traveled extensively to judge dog shows, and of course my beloved surf fishing. Really, if I wanted to do it, I did it. It wasn't until I was diagnosed with DJD, RA, DO and Fibromyalgia, had a knee replace and spinal surgery (all in the same year) that my body FINALLY convinced my mind that "something had to go---weight". Do I regret my WLS? By no means! Having less weight on my bones is keeping me upright and moving. Can I still do half of the things I could do before? No. Has having WLS cost me more than I thought I would ever be willing to sacrifice? yep. However, given the choice of losing weight or ending up bedridden--well I guess that comes under the category of a "no brainer". I feel wonderful physically. My grown daughters say I look "maavelous" ( Sweet girls ). I'm vertical and I'm moving. But boy to I miss the "good ol' days", the love of my life, John-- ya know--way back when I was "fat and happy"
  15. Thank you for sharing your story with us. I, for one, am deeply appreciative of your openness. Personally, I'm not quite to the "loving myself" stage yet, BUT I am "liking myself" a whole bunch more. Does that count as a positive step forward? Your journey is and will be an inspirational path for a lot of us to follow. Keep us posted. Are we nosey? Yep! Do we care? Hell, yeah!!!

P.S. I don't know your town, but, many, many years ago, I went to Masonville several times. A friend had a weekend place there. The area must have changed greatly since.

:) Good ol' Masonville. It's about 45min west from me. The last time I went there was many, many years ago to see a male "dancing" review. :) enough said. :)

    Protein Powder Life Saver

Hey, Jersey Girl! I spend surf fishing season in NJ. Love it! Anyway, thank you for the posting. We have folks asking all of the time about which Protein powder is the best one. As you found out every person's taste is different, so with out trying several different powders no one can tell. I'm sure the link that you shared will be extremely helpful. Thank you again.
  19. Sooooo how'd it settle? Did you die and go to , "Fat Folk's Hell"? !!!!! I AM ONLY JOKING!!!! That's exactly what I asked my Nut when I pureed a cuke, a tomato, some parsley, and vinegar/olive oil into a blender and had a "salad smoothie". I just could not even think of drinking another sweet drink. I received her "blessing" to have this mixture twice a week just to cleanse my palate, then right back to the sweet. Yuck. Seriously, how are you doing? Did you call and discuss your decision or just wing it on your own? I know---I'm nosey, but that's because I care. Think of you on this day...

When do you become a "vet" here on BP?

I feel being a "vet" depends upon the topic." We have all read posts from "long timers" who sound like they haven't a clue about their own WLS, and really shouldn't be giving advice about how to open a zip lock bag. . They mean well and are trying to help, but seem to be from a planet far far away. If one has more than average experience in a branch of WLS (such as "dumping, dehydration, stalls, different diet phases, grazing, mental struggle, maintenance, etc...) then that person is a "vet" of that experience. Time shouldn't really be the deciding factor. I believe experiencing the specific situation is the "ah-ha" factor. I am just shy of 5yrs out and am learning this and that constantly. I sincerely hope that I never stop wanting to learn and expand my knowledge of "me and my WLS journey". The sun is FINALLY shining here in the Catskills!!!! I'm goin' walk'n.

    Food related regrets...

Pasta, and rice I've learned my vomitous lesson. I have found "Miracle Noodles" an acceptable substitute. Also any dry Protein hits my sleeve like rocks. If I moisten it with applesauce or aux jous Proteins are much happier in "sleeve land'..

    Oh, the lying!

Valentina, are you okay? Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App Thank you so much for your concern. I just don't know why some people have to be so negative and aggressive to the point of being hurtful?--just for a laugh--at some one's expense and hurt? --just to puff their chest out and say, "I sure dusted her, didn't I" I just don't frigg'n get it.... I came "home" here because I remembered the support and comradery that I felt before John's suicide. Now, I find too many spiteful narcissists who consider every post an attack upon them. Everyday now until June 6th it seems there is a reminder of just how much John wanted to keep my surgery a secret from his diamond distributors on47th Street. I HATE secrecy. John couldn't bear the thought that I was having WLS to the point that he swallowed 122 Vicodins. That's how much I hate secrecy. That been said, I ABSOLUTELY refuse to be ridiculed nor belittled about a post that was meant to be uplifting and supportive. It has taken me 4 yrs of therapy to accept that John's suicide was not my fault and to go public with my WLS. I've just had it with "The Haters" on this site--even if the one they really hate is themselves. Sorry for my rant. Prayers going up for---all of us.

    Oh, the lying!

Was anyone posting to YOU? I feel that unfortunately you have a HUGE chip on your shoulder or what????I hope you will find whatever help you need. l send up prayers for you.. What in hell are you talking about??? And just to whom do you think you're talking to?, I don't need the negativity in my life. I need support and good wishes. Your post is neither. Live and let live, and please speak to me only when I have spoken to you. Thank you in advance for your compliance. God bless.

    Oh, the lying!

I spent 4yrs denying WLS--even to myself. Well, no more. No more half truths. No more lying through omission. No more selective memory. No more trying to remember "what did I tell to whom? I HAD WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY! I HAD WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY!! I HAD WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY!!!!!! Gee that was painless and ya know what? The sky didn't fall down either... Now, if I can only find someone to steal my identity...
