The crock pot is your friend right now. Cook a chicken with your favorite "wing" sauce in a crock pot and let it do its thing all day. The meat then will be soft and moist and yummy enough to blend into a puree stage or chopped finely enough to fit into your diet stage. One thing though--you might want to hold back a wee bit on the "hot" in your wing sauce. I will be 5yrs out in June and still can't tolerate anything spicy. Most sleevers can, but for the first time, I recommend you just ease off on the spicy. Enjoy! It may look yucky, but it will be soooooo YUMMY!

I think that you are reaching for Snacks because you're stressed---just like the good ol' days, before WLS. Usually when some one is constipated there's no room for more food. I'm think'n your hunger is the dreaded head hunger. That doesn't make it any easier to live with, but maybe just a wee bit more understandable.--and when something is understandable, it is manageable. I think a call your bariatric team is warranted. If it concerns you enough to stress about then it's worth a call. They will be able to guide you because the "know" you. Please keep us posted. We care about you. You know that.

Are you on a liquid pre-op? Maybe it's time just to "deal", put your big girl panties on and do whatever you can do to get distracted. --Maybe get your information out and read and reread it--grasping every little bit of informational gem you can find. --maybe go through new and old posts on here to see how others made it through this tough spot.--maybe watch a movie. You can do this!! You are soooo close. Don't blow it now, friend. You're worth this. I'll send up "anti-hunger" prayers for you.

Conflicting Information From Doctors/Patients And My Fears
Valentina replied to Hey Man's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On this support site, when you say insensitive comments to one of us, you hurt all of us who struggle with our WLS journey every day. I for one have had enough of hurt. You have absolutely not a single clue as to the struggles each of us have had to overcome. Yet here we are, trying to help anyone who asks for guidance and support. The very LEAST you should do is honor this site for what it is---a support site full of heart bearing souls who are trying to reach out and offer you a hand of friendship and experience. Maybe you could try to accept our words with a wee bit of grace and stop with the , "but he/said", "but I read that what you said isn't true", "if I hav to go through what you are, I would never have WLS". On this day--MY opinion. I'm out! -
Conflicting Information From Doctors/Patients And My Fears
Valentina replied to Hey Man's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh boy, you sure opened a can of worms with that statement! And I'll be the first to respond......I did not have surgery because it was the easy way. After 30+ years of failing to maintain any significant loss through traditional "dieting" I had surgery because it was the ONLY way. Easy is the last word I'd use to describe life after WLS. you are clearly not ready for the kind of commitment that WLS requires. Good luck. I am not saying you or anyone else here had surgery because they viewed as they easy way out. But the fact of the matter is that there are people who do. I don't know you can deny that. My comment is not an attack on you, so don't take it personally. Believe me, Young man--NO ONE who has had WLS has EVER considered is "the easy way out". NO ONE! :[ --and I DO take your comment personally. Shame on you for being so callous, demeaning and hurtful! -
I decided to "work with" my sleeve after "not listening" to it for four years. I went back to the first week of solid food stage and got back on track. It can be done. YOU can do it!!! You have the opportunity to stand up, stand tall and be your own hero. Soooo, get mov'n!!! Prayers going up for you.

What's your program say?? If in doubt, call your bariatric team. As for me: Pasta? no. Rice? no. Bread? no. They all cause dumping for me. I hope you have better luck!

Conflicting Information From Doctors/Patients And My Fears

Then your body and your mind are not in sync, therefore you are not ready. There are never any guarantees in life, friend. You can always do nothing. How's that working for you???? -
Conflicting Information From Doctors/Patients And My Fears
Valentina replied to Hey Man's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My turn: This June I will be 5 years out from the day I had 90% of my stomach removed. The following are my daily "companions" I am one of the 17% of sleevers who experience Dumping Syndrome. I can not tolerate anything spicy--even bar-b-q sauce makes me vomit--or wanting to I can not tolerate anything overly sweet without dumping. I can not tolerate anything overly rich or greasy without dumping. I do NOT feel any hunger. I have to set my cell phone alarm to remind me to eat or risk getting a migraine Five years out and I can maybe eat two chicken wings--maybe---not spicy. If nothing else, I have learned to work with my sleeve, not against it. I take its "will" as sacrosanct. I still feel its restriction and when it says, "enough", my fork goes down--not one mouthful more- or risk "hitting the wall" and dumping. Was I a happy fat woman? You bet! I had WLS because my bones could no longer support my weight. When I could no longer do the activities that I could do and my options were either have WLS or end up in a wheelchair, well--no brainer. Do I regret being sleeved? Not for one second these days. Your body sounds to me like it is shouting to you,"HELP ME!", but your brain is not listening. When the time comes and your brain is finally in sync with your body, then and only then will you know what to do. There won't be any "this or that", "what ifs", "but I heard this" or " if only". You will know. Sound simple? yep. When the time is right, it is that simple. Then you will be ready. Prayers going up for you. -
Sleeping on stomach post opp
Valentina replied to meg627's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pillows, pillows, pillows. Tuck them here, there, everywhere. I am a tummy sleeper too and pillows strategically places allowed me to continue doing so from day one. Good luck, fellow tummy sleeper! -
Must decide ASAP if I am going to tell my mom or not!

Welcome, Mike. You will find out that we may not always agree (if ever), but the one thing that we all do have in common is that we all CARE. We may have different ideals, backgrounds, foundation of beliefs, but we are all on the same WLS journey. So speak up!! Why should you be spared?

Helpful bunch,, aren't we??? I was going to follow up with a "head" comment, but I promised to be good, so I will resist--(but it was a great come-back!)

Oh sh*t! I think I just noticed an NSV! Did I?

While you're out looking for your lap (dance), would you keep an eye out for my a**? I seemed to have lost it sometime seemingly 'overnight". Yesterday I had a substantial one and today--poof! notta... I am still pondering whether or not a missing broad butt is a good thing... Enjoy your new discovery. A lap can be very useful for sooo many interesting adventures. -
I needed no pain meds what so ever. The next person may need extra pain meds for longer than most. I'm afraid that this is such a personal issue that you will just have to wait and see. I am sure that whatever your pain level is, there will be pain management for YOU. Now, my friend--go and find something else to worry about. You will and you know it You got this. Such an exciting journey---get ready...

"She is the mother who handed me two Cookies, one for each hand, when I was crying as a child". Was that really about "cookies"? Of course not. That woman loves YOU. You know that---I know you do from the words you wrote. How hurt do you think she will be when she does find out--and she will. If you are truly committed to having WLS, nothing anyone could say will sway you from having the surgery. You probably will be able to calm any of their fears. Reach down within yourself and pull the words from your heart. You will find them from within yourself. She's your mother and she loves you. She deserves your trust now just as much as you deserve hers. All will be well. Prayers going up for you, my friend. -
LASTNIGHT DINNER VSG LIFE
Valentina replied to MzStockton's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I never take left overs home--just to throw them out. Most restaurants in NYC donate their uneaten food of the day to the homeless. Whenever I am in the city, I ask for a "small plate" and offer the rest (never brought to me at my table) to be donated. Doing so, makes me feel better about not wasting food, and helps some one unknown feel full. I like that. -
get ready! one, two, three, SPIT!!!! Enjoy!

Telling friends and coworkers
Valentina replied to netters817's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Beware! Opening a Pandora's Box...!!! MY opinion: I did not want to spend the effort to try to remember just what I told to whom. So, I just told folks the "truth"...the facts. You'll be surprised how telling about your WLS in a factual, bare facts manner will smother all of the fun out of "gossiping". --and doubt it not....if you work within the healthcare world, your co-workers WILL find out! Only you can make the "tell or not tell" final decision. Just be sure it's one you can live with. Good luck, my friend. Prayers going up for you. -
When in doubt about anything this early in your journey, call your bariatric team. Then you will know for sure. Keep us posted. Yes, because we are nosy!
-
I have a beer once in awhile--from a glass, not the bottle. I also enjoy a glass of wine occasionally, but be aware that you will be able to drink about 1/3 the amount as pre WLS. Enjoy!

Vsg after laparoscopic hysterectomy
Valentina replied to Jayhawkfan74's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yeah, what she said. -
Maybe it's just time for a, "Come to Jesus" bar-b-q. Invite everyone and then tell everyone. Be sincere about your reasons for telling "this or that", instead of "all of the facts''. Do it once and have done with it. On this day, MY opinion. Good luck on whatever your choice may be. Prayers going up for you.
