    Favorite Milestones So Far?

For me: Entering into Onederland Losing my sweatpants while surf fishing for a Striped Bass Being approved for skin removal surgery Finding friends on BP Being able say, "Prayers going up" and not being mocked for it.
  2. Thank you all, Friends. This year, for the first time since WLS/John's suicide I tried to smile more than cry. I don't think that I will ever spend a June 6th without tears, but at least for THIS June 6th, I am about 50% tear free. That is mostly because of a precious few here on BP. I've had to weed my way through some very hurtful snarks, but you, my friends keep me focused on the good stuff and remembering that I am worthy. Thank YOU. Today, 5:06 PM

    Vitamin D levels low

Exactly what she ^^^ said. I am 5yrs out (today) and have been taking Vit. D, B12, B complex, Calcium and a Multivitamin ever since and will continue to do so. Not a bad sacrifice for all of the rewards I've received . Call your bariatric team about whether a surgery postponement will be necessary. Only they will know what's right for you and your hubby. Keep us posted. Prayers going up.
  4. I know of your pain! You must consult with your bariatric team and get their sage advice. They will know what is best for you. However: This is what I did----after getting approval from my bariatric team. I put some peeled cucumber, seeded tomato, basil and chives into a blender with some olive oil, pinch of sweetner and balsamic vinegar---blended the "pulp" out of it and had a small glass of "ambrosia of the Gods". I was soooooo sick of sweet, sweet, sweet that just the thought of drinking one more Protein shake had me gagging. I was approved to have one of my liquid salads three times a week. It really helped me get through the liquid diet phase. Now, if I were to do the liquid salad again, I would add some nutritional yeast, so there would be some protein in the drink. Good luck and remember---you are not alone with your salad yearning. Keep posting and letting us know how you make out. Why? Because we care, Silly! Prayers going up.

    changes

Wonderful posting, ladies! I used to put my daily pill vial in my bra where, at times the vial would still be there--nicely tucked under one of the girls the next morning! I think I remember putting items in my bra pocket and NEVER finding them again--like socks in the dryer. However, last surf fishing trip, I lost: my pill vial, loose change, my car keys (that was a big mess), and a well capped fishing lure! I have come to the conclusion that I have gone from a 44C to a 38 extra long. Oh, bother... @Christinamo7--you really do need to place a copy of your "new selfie" and post it on your mirror! What a wonderful gift to yourself. You are having an amazing journey. Hang on and enjoy the ride!

    Crossing the Dunes

My surgery date is 7/27 so I'll have a whole year to get back down to the shore. I'll keep you posted. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I'm holding you to that!! I'm having skin surgery this summer, so a 2017 rendezvous it will be!! The ocean will wait...
  7. June 6th--five years since my sleeve surgery---five years since John's suicide. So many memories--too many.

lots of hugs to you. It must be so hard to have those two events linked. I lost my boyfriend to suicide a little over 3 years ago. You never get over it, just learn how to go on. And I am glad you found a way to go on and be an inspiration and guide to the rest of us on here.

    Crossing the Dunes

Hello, Friend, I spend most "Striper Seasons" in Laurence Harbor, NJ. ---surf fishing. So, here's the plan: When you are ready to "conquer the dunes", let me know and "conquering we will go". Whenever you want---"The New Jersey shore beckons"! You will be amazed how soon that day will come. Keep posting , so I will know to be ready!!! Prayers going up for you and your "beach bum" journey. :0

So I finally heard it tonight!

So, you're just sitting there watching TV with the family and your wife spews out, "You cheated because you had the gastric sleeve". Really? Just like that? I acknowledge that what she said was hurtful and spiteful. Not well done by her. BUT Even a pancake has two sides. What preempted her saying such a thing???? Were you having an argument? Were you having a discussion about weight loss and something was said that hit a nerve with her? I'm having a difficult time finding the connection between just watching TV with the family and your wife deliberately demeaning you----in front of the family. What really happened, Friend?

    My Dinner

I buy it at my area health food store--bulk. I can get a quart for about $5. Amazon and Walmart sell it, but as a seasoning, therefore much more expensive. Happy hunting! It is a wonderful find.
  13. I really haven't had a social life since John's suicide. Coming back to BP was my first attempt to reconnect with people. For the most part I have been met with what I perceive as heartfelt caring and support. I thank those fellow posters. You know who you are. You are the reason I am now able to peek into the "public arena" again. I still have not allowed myself to become too close to anyone. Not yet, but, one day at a time. Baby steps, right?

    My Dinner

Have you tried them grilled or roasted with a sprinkling of nutritional yeast and crushed garlic??? Yummmmyyyy. My daughter(33yrs) and I eat them as a snack. The roasted nutritional yeast tastes like toasty cheese.--and it adds 8gr of Protein

    Back Pain?

I had my sleeve surgery June 6, '11, and spinal surgery Dec., '13. I had L2, L3, L4, L5 reconstructed. Both of my legs are numb, but painful to the knees. I have two rods and 8 screws holding my spine stable. I revisited my Orthopod because my back pain is back==different, and not as bad as pre=op, but still bothersome. I will have more spinal surgery to reconstruct L1 when "I am ready". Have you shared you PT findings with your Orthopod? There may be some scar tissue building up== only my guess. It's worth a follow up to discuss your PT findings, isn't it? Don't give up. You and we all deserve to be pain free if at all possible. Don't give up on yourself. I haven't. Prayers going up for you, Friend.
  17. Well. crap! I thought I was doing wonderful things like taking surf fishing back up and actually sub coached my grandson's little league game last week. It was wonderfully fun. But you people make me feel like I'm standing still. Well done, my friends. Well done! Happy prayers going up.

  22. By all means, reach out to your surgeons. They will know what's best. As an old fashion gal, I would recommend some bone broth with nutritional yeast sprinkled on top. Let us know how you're doing. We do care Prayers going up.
  23. Did you have your testing done at the same place where you had your sleeve surgery? If so, are they willing to do the conversion? I'm not sure what #4 is. Can you "splain it to me, Lucy"? I'm so sorry you are having issues. Hopefully with a wee bit more info, you will find some answers. Prayers going up.

    EKG complications

My "normal" EKG is "abnormal" to the "norm"... It has been since birth and will continue to be until death. Pre-op for any procedure is deferred to cardiology notes and views within my medical record. Some of us just live to with a heart of a different beat. Just have cardiology review your case and go on from there. --just another bump in the road of your WLS journey. All will be well. Keep posting. We care----and are really nosy! Prayers going up.

    Social Isolation

It goes round and round, doesn't it? When food is our only comfort--our only friend, we don't need to socialize where we are "hurt" and ostercised , so we stay home where food is there to comfort us--our only friend...
