Been Givin the run around
Valentina replied to Syl 153's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Remember the, "Tortoise and the Hair" story? Well, my friend, slow and steady wins the day every time. The best prep for WLS is a thorough, and thoughtful one--dotting every "i" and crossing every "t". Five years from now you will be sooo glorious satisfied that you did so. I promise. I also would not recommend you going to Mexico. You, like myself sound like someone that needs some one on one support and guidance along the entire path of your WLS journey. I wish you a successful and joyful one. Prayers going up for you. -
I find I can eat a good amount of food for what some people can eat.....I eat a lot of Quiona, chicken breast, eggs and cheese.....I average at least 5 glasses of Water a day (which I am working on) I try to stay away from carbs as much as possible...I have had whole grain bread once or twice but no rice, potatoes or Pasta....I stick to veggies and chicken.....I am counting calories and protein and I average from 600 to 850 cal a day and min 60 carbs......I eat enough I don't need to drink the Protein shakes unless I don't have time to eat then I substitute....my surgeon is moving provinces and rescheduled my 6 week check up twice....so now I will never see him again....if I am doing something wrong I need to know....and I don't have a team to contact so that is not a response..... Is there a bariatric surgeon taking your surgeon's position? Maybe you can contact the hospital where you had your surgery and ask for contact information for the new surgeon's office. Or, call your insurance company and ask for the contact information to the closest bariatric surgeon covered by your plan. Is .your Nut/Diet. available? Give him/her a call. He/her should be able to help answer your questions. You're just a wee bit off track and need some information to get aboard again. I think you will be just fine, once you get some answers. It may just be that you are not getting enough calories. Go figure, right? Try and get some consultations set up. Prayers going up.

Cheated on Pre-op diet 5 days before surgery.
Valentina replied to correak's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would think that if you're allowed to have chicken soup, then chicken salad wouldn't be a far stretch ---especially since your surgery isn't until Monday. However, if you're going to stress over it and not get any rest before surgery, just call you bariatric team and ask. They will reassure you. Now, take a deep breath. Relax. Worry about something else. You know you will. Post as you feel comfortable after your Monday surgery and let us know how you're doing. We are nosy AND we care! Good luck and from what I hear, you'll be in excellent hands. Starting to scooch over to make room for you on, "The Losers' Bench". Prayers going up for a joyful journey for you. -
Puréed stage questions
Valentina replied to Charlie Brown's Momma's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think just about everyone loves baby food bananas, but the sugar might be too high. Everything else baby food related?----leave it to the babies---they can't talk yet, so they can't report you giving them baby food as abuse!!! Just kidding--love the little curtain climbers... -

Baby food? ugh yuck, yuck, yuck!!! Homemade bone soup with nutritional yeast: yummy, yummy, yummy!! -
@ christinamo7: I never could bake. Are you telling me that if I just wait for a wee bit longer, I'll be able to bake???? Wow! who knew???

You'll be losing your weight, not your sense of humor, my friend. If your hubby is serious about his concerns, talk your WLS through with him---until he understands 199% and then some. Spousal support is SO important. It sounds like you two are a "fun" couple. Wonderful! Prayers going up for a future overflowing with----fun.

I took a new gown and my robe from home. I wanted the smell of "home", not "hospital" next to my skin. I also took my own soap and toiletries . I wanted to smell like "me", not a "hospital patient". I also took my comfy slippers--easy on/off, cell charger, and my rosary (can't hurt, right?) Oh, and a pix of my family. Prayers going up for a joyful journey.

How do I tell my surgeon he screwed up?
Valentina replied to thomas1984's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeah, what he ^^^ said. Here it is, Friday. You posted your first comment yesterday. You've gotten more than a mouthful of "advice", Friend. So------- Have you called for a consultation with your bariatric surgeon???? If not, why not? I agree with you----something is wrong. I just don't necessarily agree about where the "problem" lies. Call. Make an appointment ASAP and get your answers--calmly and factually. Only then will you know how to proceed. Good luck to you on your WLS journey. I hope you can make it a joyful one. Prayers going up for you. -
5yr check up with bariatric surgeon. Now on the plastics--already approved. I'm ready.

I ear "Miracle Noodles" whenever the family is having Pasta or rice. The noodles really have no taste of their own, but will take on the taste of whatever you put over them. The Miracle Noodle company will send you recipes if you ask or go online and get them. Just be sure to rinse, rinse, rinse and then rinse Miracle Noodles before using them as they have a "strange" odor. Not a bad ordor--just strange. They work for me. I hope you will give them a try. Good luck. Let us know if you try them and your thoughts. Prayers going up.

Seriously, how do you get all of your protein in?!
Valentina replied to mlgok's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have a "natural food" store near you==that's the best place to find it. There you can scoop it out of a bin and a qt. contain will cost about two dollars. You can also buy it on Amazon and at Walmart, but it is in a fancy bottle and ultra refined. A small bottle will cost about seven dollars. Good luck where ever you find it. It's worth it and it's yummy. -
If there is no redness nor pain, I would put a band aid over it and call your bariatric team in the morning. . If you are going to panic, then call the office now and ask for a call back by the physician on call. Rest easy. Take a deep breath. Call now or in the morning. Which ever will put you at ease. Prayers going up for you, Friend.

Sorry to hear about your day. Some days just suck, don't they? Have you tried getting out of the house? Go for a walk. Anything to distract yourself from the "demon food". How about a Protein shake smoothie?: one scoop of Protein powder, a portion of frozen fruit, a zero calorie liquid and three ice cubes. It's yummy and good for you. Groom the dog. Anything to distract yourself. Keep posting and let us know how you're going. We really do care. Prayers going up for you, Friend. Keep your hands busy: read a book, color, paint, crochet, knit, clean the house.

Seriously, how do you get all of your protein in?!
Valentina replied to mlgok's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I add nutritional yeast to anything and everything. It adds Protein (app. 8gr/2 TBLsp) to everything. In Soups it tastes like savory croutons. On meat, fish, fowl, it has a cheesy taste. It's a great way to boost the protein count of whatever you're eating. Give it a try. "you'll like it". Good luck and let us know how you're doing along your journey. Prayer going up for you, Friend. -
Drove myself home and never looked back.

For a good "romp" and great belly laughs, try Julie Garwood's "Pirate" series. They are great for escapism and come along with a good dose of that "tingling" sensation. All in the good and "proper" pre-Victorian era. Great, mindless summer time read---or as my daughter says, "warm weather women's porn". At my age, I'll enjoy every "tingle" I can get.
-
Historic fiction? Are we talking about a good Julie Garwood??? My all time favorite!

I only lose about 1 pound a week
Valentina replied to fling0228's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your weight loss. A very old and wise woman (wait! she was me! ) told me once, "Make the most of what you have and the least of what you haven't". Be joyful with your WL journey. It may be more leisurely than what you thought, but the scenic route is the more joyful. You're going a great job. Believe it. -
A couple of weeks ago I got change from a bait shop and put it into my "bra pocket". Much later, I was going to pay for lunch with it, but changed my mind when I took it out and it smelled of yesterday's squid bait! And no, it wasn't "me"...

Please, please, try to ensure that your spouse is of the same mind set as you BEFORE you have WLS. Do everything you can and then do some more. Get counseling --separate and together--whatever it takes . Spousal support is crucial for the upmost success of a WLS journey. Without it, the journey can be dark and lonely. My SO committed suicide the morning of my WLS. He was against it. I was told, "Don't worry. He'll come around ". He didn't. Please do everything you can and then some to reassure and ensure your spousal support. It really does matter. Prayers going up

When to tell Boss?
Valentina replied to finding_onederland's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Back in the day--5yrs ago, I asked for 3 surgery dates. That gave me some leeway when scheduling for time off. I did the office scheduling and it was much easier to make everyone happy when I had three different dates to work around everyone else's schedule---making coverage easier and smoother for everyone. I would think the sooner the better ---that you will be needing the time off. Good luck! -

One "hoop" at a time. So far, so good. It all sounds positive to me. Welcome! Keep posting so we "can keep an eye on you"! -
Any veteran sleevers who did NOT experience hair loss?
Valentina replied to B1essed1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I keep my hair very short, so if I lost any hair at all, I didn't notice it--now 5yrs out. Protein, protein, protein. That's all I can suggest. I wonder sometimes if genetics have a hand in the hair loss mix. ??? -
Welcome! Keep reading, researching and posting. --look forward to following your progress through the process.
