Leslie posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hello, I sat at the hospital yesterday while my dear friend had her VSG surgery with the same doctor I used. As the time passed, I thought about where I was two years ago and my journey since then. While it hasn't been all butterflies and rainbows, I wouldn't do anything differently. I achieved my goal weight and found the person I had buried away long ago. I've been blessed with many supportive friends and family members and adapted to those who were not so supportive. These forums helped me soooo much! My diet is fairly normal now. I eat mostly what I want (within reason), just a lot less. I exercise 6 or 7 days a week. While I appreciate the results of exercise, I really don't like to do it! Thanks to iHeartRadio though, I push through. Losing the weight came in spurts and stalls in my case. I would have 2 months of nothing and then a consistent 6 weeks of loss. If you are just thinking about surgery, it is well worth it! If you are a "slow loser", don't despair. If you are an old pro, congrats! Blessings, Leslie At my highest weight, about 240. This was taken on 9/19/13 at my current weight of 142. -
Anyone have Dr Trace Curry in Ohio perform your vsg?
Leslie replied to mileysfitmommy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes! He did my VSG in July 2011. I would recommend him without reservation. Since my surgery, he has sleeved two of my friends. I had surgery at Jewish but I think he operates at Christ and his own center now. I have reached my goal and then some. His office is very supportive all the way through the process and after your surgery is over. -
Great job!!

36F, he is convinced it has excellent results with fewer complications. So far, at least in my case, he is right! -

Did any of you ever wonder...
Leslie replied to mythreechildren2001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did wonder that, especially when I hit a stall last week. WHen it ended, and the pounds just fell off, I was amazed. Now, I just really don't think about food. It doesn't seem to rule my brain. I think that is what helps this tool work! -
I hated the Isopure with a passion. I know some on here love it though!

I was told I could take a bath, swim, whatever at 2 weeks post op. I have been swimming twice and taken a few baths. No infection here. I think as long as your incisions are closed, it is safe. The only thing my doc cautioned me on was working my abs... no doing that until six weeks out! Hope this helps.

Awesome!!! What an inspiration!

I am doing well also. I can only eat at a max 1/3cup at a time of anything though. They only thing I have had issue with is a spicy Indian dish. I have NO IDEA why I even tried that.... I am walking about 2-3 miles a day, swimming, and doing upper and lower body weight lifting. I am not allowed to work my core yet.

Tommorow is the big day!

YAY!! I am glad your surgery went well! See... you survived!! No worries about leaving yoru kids now! You will be healthy and happy and around for a looong time! Blessings and speedy recovery!! It gets better every day!! -
It gets easier I promise. It will help your liver be in good shape and reduce your carb cravings. I know it sucks but you can do it and you will be glad you did!!

I had a hernia repair with the VSG and I think it definintely added to my pain. In fact, it MAY have been the majority of it. I wouldn't let the fear of the pain from surgery scare anyone away from having it done. The pain is temporary but the weight loss is worth it.
