I had my one week follow-up. The doc and NUT deceided to advance me to pureed foods. I was sooo excited. I came home and had a few bites of plain Greek yogurt. It was heaven. Before surgery, I wouldn't have liked it plain! I am becoming more and more thankful for this tool everyday!!

How long are you waiting for Surgery?
Leslie replied to Papa Jack's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My initial surgeon consult was the beginning of April and I had surgery July 12. So, I guess that means about 3 months. My INS didn't have a SWLP so I got lucky. -

Getting Sleeved today
Leslie replied to Tripletsmomma's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good luck!! Hopefully you are resting comfortably by now! -
Today is the best day I have had since surgery. I am still taking pain meds every 12 hours cause it gets pretty bad without them. I have been walking a lot, usually between 1-2 miles in divided doses. It feels like I should do more but I try to keep reminding myself that I just had surgery! Before surgery I was walking between 4-5 miles/day. I have my follow-up tomorrow morning. I am hoping that theywill release me to pureed foods. Although I am NOT hungry at all, I am tired of Clear liquids. Blessings, Leslie

Glad you are feeling better. I am still taking my meds for my afternoon nap and at bedtime. It's the nasty liquid Lortab though

Should this still hurt this much?
Leslie replied to Heather~ Sweetdreams's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still have quite a bit of pain right under my diaphram. Part of me thinks I am overdoing it and part thinks that something is wrong. I am still taking pain meds or I don't sleep well. I know I had a hernia fixed as well as the VSG. I hope you feel better soon. I plan on asking about it all at my follow-up tomorrow. -

Tired of hearing you don't look that big to need surgery!
Leslie replied to sugarmamma7's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am only telling select people that I went through with the surgery. My BMI was under 40 so I heard allll kinds of things. Just diet and exercise being my least favorite! I walked 4 miles a dy right up until surgery and didn't lose any weight except on the Medifast diet. You are doing whta is right for YOU and that is the important thing!! Blessings! -
I am very thankful that today has been better. I still have gas pains and now my muscles are hurting but it is better! Hydration, walking, and rest are what I am aiming for this week. I have weaned myself off the nausea meds and only take the pain meds twice a day. Once a few hours after I wake up and right before bed. I hope to be off them all the way tomorrow!!! To be honest, up until today, I had serious byers remorse. Today it seems like I may just make it through this!

Good luck with the diet. The first few days are tough but it gets better! By the end of my two weeks, I wasn't hungry and had lost 10lbs.

Melissa and Gayle- Dr Curry did my sleeve on teh 12th at Jewish. He was great! He even called to check on me since he couldn't make it to the hospital to discharge me Other than the pain, which I should have expected, the surgery went well. He repaired my hernia while he was in there too. If either of you want to talk, send me a message and I will give you my number! Good luck!

Pre-Op Diet, what has your doctor said?
Leslie replied to minikie's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Smoky- you got a disk! And I thought my manual was cool! -
Smoky- Yes teh doc fixed the hernia while he was in there. He said that is why I may feel more restriced for a few weeks. Thanks for all the well wishes!! I think I am getting better every hour! I took a short (4 hour) nap this afternoon.

Thoughts on Surgery Today
Leslie replied to Bryn Dawson's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Glad that all went well and that you are not having any pain! -
I am trying not to over do it! I am working on sipping my meds downs with an Isopure. I had a bad hernia so the doc told me my restriction will be much more pronounced for a few week. That maka me nervous that I won't be about to get all my fluids in.

I actually think the liquid Lortab works better that the Morphine. I guess I have alittel more swelling cause i had a huge hernia!! Sounds like it is stand procedure in this hospital to let people out eary. The lady that was next to yesterday was here only overnight for her Gastric Bypass! I think that's a bit extreme but we had different surgeons! Good luck to you!
