    Christmas Challenge!!!

11.6 pounds lost this past month. Not too shabby. As of this morning: CW: 201 GW: 195 #'s to go: 6 Good luck to everyone!
  3. I am four-ish months out and I still have issues drinking Water. I really have to remind myself to go drink a glass throughout the day. I'd say I average throughout the week maybe 50-55 oz a day. Diva - Do you find that drinking more water helps with your weight loss? (when you were losing)

Problems getting protein in my diet...

I couldn't stand any protein powders right after surgery, but loveeee Premier Protein Chocolate Shakes. They taste exactly like chocolate milk. I know they are a favorite with many people on these boards. I bought mine at Sam's Club, but have seen them at Meijer and heard they are at CostCo too. I really recommend looking around for them and giving them a try. They have 30g protein, 160 Calories, 1g Sugar, and 5 carbs.
  5. My collarbones are coming! My collarbones are coming!!!

  6. I bought a variety case of these from Sam's Club (maybe 24 of them) and personally, I think they were disgusting. I bought them before surgery thinking they would be good to get all my protein in. After surgery I tried a fruit punch flavored one and had to run to the bathroom and almost throw up. I was heaving over the toilet for quite a while. (Sorry for the image... lol) They are thick almost syrup-y and I could not get past the whey taste. The only way I could possibly see getting them down is by chugging them, which you can't do right after surgery. I suppose you could water them down too, but that defeats the purpose of them being only 3 oz. I ended up giving about 20 of them away. YUCK.
  7. I have a slight history with depression - and have been on antidepressants once before (about four years ago). I thought the VSG would "make me happy" because it seemed all of my emotional struggles were with my weight. I can now say, four months post-op, that my depression got worse. I think the horomones had a great deal to do with it but there are some other emotional issues I need to deal with that don't have to do with my weight. I began taking Wellbutrin last Monday and although I can't say if it's helping my moods yet, I do feel more energetic and have lost 5 1/2 pounds this week so far. (both energy and weight loss are side effects of Wellbutrin)
  8. I had my surgery on July 20, 2011, and so far have lost 61 pounds.
  9. I found that the women's one a day and the celebrate vitamins both made me extremely nauseated. I stick to the Flintstone Completes and those don't bother me at all...empty stomach or not.
  10. Informational Seminar: April 4, 2011 Consultation: June 6, 2011 (I had to wait so long for a consult because I did not have insurance until June 1) Psych Eval: June 11, 2011 (the only thing I needed for insurance approval) Approved: June 17, 2011 Pre-op Testing: July 12, 2011 Surgery: July 20, 2011
  11. I second using myfitnesspal! I use the iPhone version and it is very easy to use. It also has the barcode scanning function. Another reason it is so great is that you can add friends on there for added support. I have 48 friends on there who have all had the VSG. If you start using it, you can add me on there. My username is lgerweck. I actually hit my 100th day logging into myfitnesspal today! (it keeps track)

    G*d Da*n Chocolate!

Psh... my dad (yes, I still live at home) bought 2 large bags of Snickers "for the trick-or-treaters"... we live on three acres and have never had a trick-or-treater in the 30+ years since my parents have lived there. Oh, temptation.
  13. I'm a little over 3 months out and don't feel true hunger, but I can feel my blood sugar drop if I go too long without eating. I'm still dealing with head hunger though I'm the same way that I get irratible if I don't eat and yesterday I heard a term that I thought was pretty funny... "hangry" which is the state of anger or irratibility resulting from being hungry. I need to tell my boyfriend that this is a real thing! lol! http://www.bitchinnutrition.com/food-for-thought/hangry/

    Operating Table

I too was awake when I went into the operating room and had to scoot myself onto the table but I wasn't awake for much longer than that! They must have lifted me onto a different bed because I woke up in recovery in a different bed. A few days later I noticed a had a pretty good size bruise right above my left hip that I didn't have before surgery that I'm guessing was from moving me. I'm just glad I wasn't awake to feel how I got that bruise! lol

I'M IN! I am 2.6 pounds away from my Halloween goal...so close! CW: 212.6 GW: 195 #'s to go: 17.6
  18. I had a catheter placed after I was put under, and I couldnt really tell I had it in. I actually didn't mind having it because then I didn't have to get up to pee! It was nice! haha The only uncomfortable part was when she took it out before I left the hospital, and they just have you take a deep breath and pull it out. Same deal with my drains.

    Seminar to Surgery?

I had my inital seminar April 4th, but I had to wait until June for insurance reasons. So really, my journey began June 6th with the consultation and I was sleeved July 20th. I have BCBS of MI insurance and the only approval I needed was to have the hospital call the insurance company and "verify my benefits." I was instantly approved.
  20. Today marks 3 months since my surgery and I'm down 50.4 pounds as of this morning!

  21. Oh man, I'm the same way! I used to always be HOT. I walked into work with my coat, mittens, and scarf on yesterday and someone mentioned to me "you're cold all the time because you lost all of that weight!" I didn't really notice it until she said that! It's 55 degrees here in Michigan and I've pulled out my space heater too but I'm always cold. I guess we'll have to be bundled up until our body regulates itself again!
  22. I was taking Flintstones Complete for the first 2 months out from surgery and had no trouble tolerating them at all... then I ran out and tried taking the bariatric formula samples I recieved in the mail and also a regular women's one a day and they both made me very nauseous. I think I may be going back to the Flintstones!

    Oscar Meyer, loads of protein

Hi CT. These things sound amazing! I am having trouble finding where they are only 4 carbs and 35 g of protein though! I looked on the Oscar Meyer website and none of the Cracker Combos seems to have those nutrition facts. The Turkey & Chicken Cracker Combo has 17g fat, 25 g carbs, and 20 g protein. All of the other combs seem to have around the same facts. Whatsupwiththat?
