Weight Watchers

I have a question - does anyone do Weight Watchers with the band? I mean actually go to the meetings and all? I'm thinking of joining it... the band is working great for me so far but I'm wondering if going weekly and weighing with someone, seeing progress on paper would help me eat healthier...

Ice Cream?

Be careful with ice cream (as I'm sitting here nibbling on a few bites)... it goes down WAY to easy. I'm better off to not keep it in my house at all!
3. I am on a two week liquid diet due to my band being WAY to tight and having to have an unfill. Because of that, my band slipped a very, very, very little bit so my Dr put me on a two week liquid diet. Well I've done great until today (day 9) all the sudden I'm SO HUNGRY and when I got home, I couldn't stand it... I ate a few nuts and some edamame Beans... not a lot, just a little. I'm I'm so afraid I've messed something up. :help: Of course after I did this I got really mad at myself... gripped at myself and my hubby (he was there)... I still have 5 days of liquids left - I have to stay on them!!!!!!

I hope I haven't hurt myself

Hi everyone, Well I had a barium swallow yesterday with the results today - everything is OK. Doing a complete unfill and going onto liquids for 2 weeks did the trick!! My band is back in place... I am now on a soft bariatric diet for 1 week and back to normal foods after that. Going forward, my fills will be small - we don't want any more of this happening to me! Thank you all for the kind words - they really helped!! :whoo:

I hope I haven't hurt myself

My slip was from the band being to tight.. it was HORRIBLE.. I could hardly drink. My fill kicked in 4 weeks later... I had great restriction before too... then boy did I get more. I was on a cruise and as soon as I got home I went to the Dr. They said my slippage was very, very small..

I hope I haven't hurt myself

I'm not looking for a "you'll be alright"... I am SO MAD at myself right now. My slip was/is very small... I don't know what happened tonight. All the sudden the hunger set in and I was eating some. I stopped myself, heck one bite I even spit out! I still have 5 days to go... I am making a promise to myself to be 100% for the rest of the time... Thank you for the support. Right now, I can't wait till 2PM on Monday to see if everything is ok..
8. I'll be honest, when they said the work slip to me - I freaked!!! Then they were telling me that everything is fine. The liquids should take care of it and NOT TO CHEAT during that. Oh believe me, I will not! From the very beginning my Dr's office has said, when I feel that something isn't right - come in. That's what I did and I'm so glad I did.
9. I received my second fill about 3 weeks before I went on vacation (a 7 day cruise). While we were gone in the middle of the ocean my fill decided to kick in... I thought it already had, I had great restriction. The last three days of the cruise it was horrible. I'd wake up coughing, and choking on reflux. As soon as I got home I called my Dr and they had me come in for a barrium swallow. Needless to say, I was closed completely!!! It took the barrium 10 minutes for two little trickles to go down. Now I am at a complete unfill to give my band a and stomach a rest (it slipped just a very, very little). I am now on 2 weeks of liquids and hoping everything goes back to normal. Has anyone had this happen to them. I'm very worried about the band slipping some...

I have to sleep sitting up

I had the same problem, waking up at night coughing and throwing up. It was horrible. I was actually on vacation during all of this. I received a fill 3wks prior to vacation and then while I was gone (on a cruise so I couldn't see the Dr) the fill took full effect and boom - all my problems started. I went to the Dr the day I returned home, I had a very, very slight slippage due to being overfilled. I am now at an unfill for the next two weeks and on a full liquid diet. I will then go back to make sure the slippage is down (which they really think it will be) and then I'll start with slow fills. My Dr thinks that I can't handle a lot of a fill at one time. Question - has anyone had a small slippage due to being overfilled and it go down after so long of an unfill and a liquid diet?
11. Hi Tammy, My Dr said the (very, very small) slip came in after the fill took full effect. It happened from my band being way, way to tight. They said it was a very good thing that I went in as soon as I got back into town. I was really worried about the slip at first, but now I'm not. I have a friend who's been banded now for 2 years and it always takes her fills at least 2 weeks before she can feel restriction from them. Everyone is different though.
12. Hey Ragdoll, our cruise was WONDERFUL! We are already planning one for next year. I can't wait. Even though I had a rough time with my band while gone - I survived! My 19 month old had the best time. He was the hit of the ship! I can tell from your stats that your doing a great job.. keep it up! :clap2:
13. Actually, I had my fill 3 weeks prior!! I had good restriction from that so my Dr's office, everyone thought I'd be fine. We were all thinking I'd had the fill in plenty of time for the cruise. Guess not, I'm in that 2% that this happens too! Next time, NO FILL within a month or two of vacation!

Junk Food

I had my second fill about 3 weeks ago and so far have had great restriction. Today at lunch I ordered some nachos (I know, I shouldn't be eating those anyway) and I was able to eat 1/2 of them. A coworker said that eating junk food is easier to eat and most bandsters can usually eat more.. Does that seem true for a lot of you? I know now to stay away from them. I will say though, I ate them 5 hours ago and I'm still not hungry - so that's a plus. But then again, since my second fill, I don't think I have been hungry. I eat becuase I know I need to.
15. Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me out here.. I'll give you somewhat of a short version - I was banded on 5/10/07 and followed my Dr's orders for all foods after surgery. Received my first fill on 6/21/07 - I had some restriction but after 5 wks or so, I could eat much more and pretty much everything I wanted. I just got my second fill and oh boy, I think it's tight. I am having to take the SUPER SMALL bites (which I never really had to before). I'm having to chew, chew, chew, chew (which I never really had to before) I'm not eating much at all, but I'm not getting sick either. I had my second fill 5 days ago and even drinking, I'm having to nurse my drinks. Here is an example of what I ate today. Breakfast - Protein shake (took 1.5 hours to drink) lunch - 1/4 cup Beans with cheese, sour cream & salsa (ate 1/2 of it, too 40 minutes to eat that) dinner - 1 chicken nugget, 3 pieces of hominey (30 minutes to eat) Now I'm wondering, am I to tight or is this normaland I just haven't had to do this before? I'm going on a cruise in 3 weeks and I don't want to be to tight but then again, I sure don't want to eat everything in sight. Any input is very much appreciated!!!

Junk Food

You are right, it's not easy... I've actually been really, really good on my food choices. I honestly don't know why today I had to have the junk. I think because I am leaving for a cruise this weekend and I'm thinking, it's vacation time (like I use to do at every vacation). I've already made a list of promises that I have to keep for myself and eating junk is not one of them.... therefore, I'm thinking my mind was telling me - just this one time :girl_hug: Now tonight for dinner I had cajun salmon - that was a great choice!
17. I am so worried that I am not getting enough vitamins since I’ve had lapband surgery. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> What is a good chewable multi vitamin? I’ve been taking Centrum Chewables but I’m thinking I should take something a little better. Any ideas?

Chewable Multi Vitamin

Hey ragdoll - I'm Crystal, your new friend on myspace  See we have talked on here before!
19. My activity level is good - My goal is to work out 5x's a week but do good if I make it 3 or 4. I'm getting use to the restrition that I have so really, it's not that bad now! Actually is kind of nice not to be hungry and not think about "what am I going to eat now"... the hard thing though, it makes me not want to cook for my hubby and son. But they don't let me forget that they are still hungry

Happy in Texas

I'm a Texan as well... I live in Wylie and was banded by Dr. Davidson on 5/10/07!! I am also very happy with my decision. I just received my second fill and boy is the restriction there. I had restriction before but not like this. Texas Flower- I have a coworker using Dr. Barker, she really likes his staff so far!! Good luck to everyone!
21. I have a question.. We are going on a cruise in 3 weeks and I was wondering about being banded and alcohol. I don't drink often, actually it's been over 2 years since my last drink. But since I'll be on vacation I might want one or two. Can you still drink alcohol while being banded?
22. My first fill I received 1.6cc's and have been great with that.. I'm 11 weeks PO tomorrow and have lost 18 lbs. I'm very happy with my 1.6 loss per week. Each person is different..
23. I just started a bootcamp at my gym last week. I go on Tues/Thur/Sat. I also workout on Mon/Fri.. taking Wed/Sun off. I weighed myself this morning and I'm up 1.5 lbs  I am super bummed aboout this... I've been eating right doing what I am suppose to do... Any advise? :help: (I've had one fill so far, I'm at 1.6 cc's (It's been 4wks) and go for a second one in 3 wks or so..)
24. My favorite is the grape - YUMMY, makes me feel like a kid again!
25. How long do most of you wait to drink after a meal? I stop drinking 30 minutes before and wait 30-45 minutes after a meal before drinking again. I've been reading some people wait 1.5 hours after... HMM, now I'm wondering if I'm drinking to soon.
