Raine replied to CarolinaSleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is scheduled for the 27th and I will go back to work on the 9th. So 12 days, sounds like I should be ok by then. -

Just wanna feel normal again
Raine replied to dimples509's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having mine done on Wednesday, why do your taste buds change and your sense of smell get heightened? -
I didnt like any of the protein shakes I tried. Then I saw someone mix a crystal lite pack with their no fat greek yogurt and liked it so I mixed it with some 1% milk in a blender and total of 28 grams of protein and it wasnt bad, a little bit of a dry taste but so much better than the protein shakes I've tried. Used an orange pack and tasted like an orange cream cicle, also used a peach one and if you like peachy tasting things that was good too.

We are close, I'll be sleeved for 5-6 weeks by then and should be fine, I explained that to her. I know its a big deal for her and her partner and I will be there with bells on. I just wanted her to be happy for me too. So guess I was feeling sorry for myself. I'm not going to wait. We both have things in our life that are important for different reasons. Ah well life goes on, or rather at least now it will because I am doing what I know will help my life go on. I'll call her again tomorrow and reasure her again. Thanks, Meggie, I do see her side, I just want her to be happy for me too.

I made it through day 5 on the pre op liquid diet
Raine replied to happy2behere's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on day 6 of the liquid diet and doing pretty good, I had my drink while my hubby and buddy had their dinner last night. I stood strong! My son keeps saying sorry Mom. I keep telling him dont be, you have to eat, I am doing this for us! My hubby is the chef in the family and damn good at it, but did not once mention Easter dinner. I love him so much he is there for me and I am so happy for that! You all will make it through it! -
5 days pre-op and lost 5 lbs. I was wondering if the pre-op HAS to be the whey Protein isolate? Could I just count the number of protein I take in my consumption? Like with smoothies made with 2% milk and greek yogurt etc?
-
I'm keeping an eye on the carbs too. Thie Fage had the least carbs of all the greek yogurt that I looked at. I'm still somewhat full from the drink which is good. I'm going to have some beef broth (made from the cubes with a little extra Water and pepper), after that sweetness, I need a savory lol. I have to say I am not as hungry as I thought I would be. Which is great!

I tried it and LOVED it compared to the powders. Thanks so much for the suggestion. Protein has been my biggest worry since this started. Just made and orange one using Fage no fat greek yogurt (7carbs, 18grams protein) with 1% milk. Fan-Freaking-Tastic!

I put on my ticker the weight that I was when I started the pre-op diet, the weight I started this was at 235. You will do great!

Hi Everyone, I decided to get the GVS because of various hereditary medical malfunctions as I like to call it. I am one of six kids in my family and the middle of 5 girls. Out of my sisters and my brother I have everything my parents and grandparents have ever had. I am 44 years old and have been obese for my entire life. Varying stages, but still what the docs call obese. Between the T2 Diabetes, High Blood Presure, high cholesterol, Massive Trygicerides, panceantitus, and now the kidneys are starting to show stress. My sibs for the most part are relatively healthy, two have T2 Diabetes and one has High Blood Pressue. I kept asking myself, why me??? Why do I have to be in pain and not know what normal feels like anymore? Why do I have deal with all the BS?? Why me, why me, why me and not them? (Not that I would wish it on them ever!) In my 20's my highest weight noted was 280lbs, I wouldnt get on a scale after that so I am sure that I was more. In my 30's my average was around 240ish, Now in my 40's it is on average 220ish. Because I carry my weight well people say you are too small to have WLS, but my answer is you don't know whats going on inside my body. I am doing this to save my life. When people ask if I am alergic to anything, my answer is food. I love it but it is killing me slowly, and I didn't know how to get a handle on it. Then I decided that I want to live, I want to see my son grow to be a man with a family, I want to grow old with my husband of 14 years so far. And that is when I started the journey and decided to do this. I don't believe it is the answer to all my conditions but it will help a tremendous amount and get me to a point where I am not taking 20 pills a day just to keep the numbers in check. So here I am, day 4 of the pre-op liquid diet. It stinks but I am doing pretty good so far. The Protein is the part that I need to get a handle on and am trying different drinks but am not a fan of most. My next step is try the unflavored unjury, I have read really good reveiws about the stuff, so lets see. I am a clear fruity sweet person and not a shake lover when it comes to sweet things. Mostly, I am a fan of savory flavors more so I thought I would see how it tastes in my broths and Soups. We shall see. I'm not sure how many fat grams I should stay under, I was told 60 but for some reason that sounds like a lot to me. I am keeping them under 30 so far just to make sure. Any suggestions and experiences will be welcomed. My surgery date is set for April 27, 2011. Excited, scared and nervous all at once, but I expect that is normal. Thanks for listening to me and talk to all later.
