So why are fat people so discouraging?
Raine replied to Rootman's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I tell people my goal weight is 140 which I don't consider too small for me, I am 5'5. And they all say that I will look sickly and ematiated (spell check lol) How can anyone look ematiated at 140 unless you are 6 foot something? I don't get it. I agree with the jealousy thing from people that are heavy and making negative comments. You are doing what they have dreamed of doing forever. I also agree with the fact that people get used to seeing you a certain size for so long that they just can't picture you to be a normal weight. To heck with all of them, and everyone and lets keep rocking our sleeves. -
How did your f/u with your PCP go?

Raine replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Irene, I felt your happiness! That is amazing and I am so proud of you. You have accomplished so far what some here are working so hard to do and you have inspired them because through you and people like Tiffykins it shows that the goal is attainable. Congratulations. And BTW who said you cant have it all? You never know -
I had a cup o'joe yesterday afternoon and it wasn't repulsive LOL. Finally! It is starting to taste like it used to. I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing

Raine replied to Carolyn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The scale this morning said I was up another 2 lbs. So that is a total of 5 lbs!!! I know its water weight because my feet look like balloons. I just don't know how to get it to go away. *this too shall pass...this too shall pass...this too shall pass* I keep repeating it to myself over and over. My sugar numbers are perfect so I know I am doing something right. It still sux though. :hurt: -

This stall is killing me!!!!!!!
Raine replied to Carolyn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We are all going through this but keep in mind that almost everyone has gone through this before us. I am in the same situationh. Almost 6 weeks post op stalled for 3 weeks and on the third week gained 3 lbs. I don't get it but I do believe our bodies will catch up to what we are doing, -
Second week out and gained 2 pounds
Raine replied to beckyboop74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost 6 weeks post op and have been in a stall for almost 3 weeks now. In the 3rd week I gained 3lbs. I am still waiting for it to go away. My numbers are good so I know its ok... but it still sux LOL. You are not alone as you can see. We will get through this and everything will be fine. Just a matter of time for our bodies to get used to what we are doing. -
2 year post VSG and pregnancy update
Raine replied to Tiffykins's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I love how down to earth and blunt you are. It is quite refreshing to read someone saying it like it is. I would say good luck, but girl, you do not need it LOL. You get what you put into it and one thing is for sure you put your heart and soul into everything you do. -
Sex After Surgery?
Raine replied to thinkingboutVSG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dear Chef Neil's Wife, This week is very important. Think of all the calories he will burn prior to surgery. -
Getting the house **** and so when we come back from NJ the only thing that needs to be done is unpack and do 2 loads of laundry.
-

-
Not to sound too cliche' but everything happens for a reason! Rest and recover and you will be sleeved when the time is right!

I'll do it with you!!! It is strange because I told some people and where as they were happy for me, they don't understand like the people here understand. So thanks everyone!!!

For me, the pain in the hospital was bad but I was expecting it so that for me wasn't the worst, I had the morphine pump too but kept losing it in the damn sheets and it was easier to lay there than cause more pain looking for it lol. I think the worst part was the constant dizziness and light headed feeling I got when my BP went low, which was all the time until I made an appointment with my PCP and she took me off of two of my three pills for that. One thing is for sure, do not hesitate to call the surgeons office when you have a question about what you are doing or how you feel. I think the sleeve is a great choice, but I am a little biased LOL. Good luck!

My Complete Story...Pre op to 3 months post op
Raine replied to jdel408's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks for sharing your story, I believe eveyone should read the good, the bad and the ugly. I do hope you reconsider saying who your surgeon was only becasue it will help ohers make a more informed decision. Lets face it, pain sucks! Sorry you had to deal with it that way, but over all sounds like your surgery was a success. I am sure that it was quite an annoying and irritating feeling when things weren't what you were told they would be. All's well that ends well though. Congratulations on your success so far and good luck on the rest of your "trip". Haha, notice I didn't use the"J" word? LOL -
Sex After Surgery?
Raine replied to thinkingboutVSG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pre-surgery, I had lost all of my drive because of all the pills that I was taking. Now 6 weeks post op and off most of those pills (from 20 to 3) I have finally gotten a little bit of my old self back. I actually cried because of it. So for me it was 5 weeks and 2 days My doc said 2-3 weeks officially though LOL. -
Finally Made The Decision
Raine replied to thinkingboutVSG's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You have just made the best decision of your life! To get your health in check. I am 6 weeks post op this week and I can't tell you how happy I am. This isn't the cure to all that we go through but it is the tool that we need to get to where we need to be. I have every co-morbidity known to man (ok thats an exageration ) but because of this surgery and the work that I have put in I have gone from taking 20 pills a day to 3 a day now. It had gotten to a point where I didnt know if I was ill or if it was a side effect of a pill I was taking. I just recently heard on the news that a pill I was taking, Niaspan, took 2000mg at bed time every day for 5 years, is now known to be bad for you and causes strokes. LOVELY! Well because of this surgery, I am no longer on that pill. You will find the support you need here from almost everyone. Read everything you can so you are informed and go into this with your eyes wide open. Information is the key to success in everything we do in life. Welcome and good luck on your journey! You will do great. -
Trying to bring me back to life
Raine replied to lostalongtheway's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Its a life changing decision. Your fears are valid and warrented. One of the things that you will find about this site is that most everyone will want to lend support and help, from newbies to vets. Welcome to the board and good luck on your journey! -
Tamz, it is GREAT! Look what you have done in one day, down by almost 30! Your PCP and surgeon work in conjunction with eachother for your benefit. So they will confer and decide if you are good to go. Keep doing what you are doing and I think you will be ok. Who knows, tomorrow it may be down ANOTHER 30 The thrist is gone because your sugars are going down. Thirst is a symptom of high blood sugar. Keep drinking, keep walking and most especially, keep us updated. Everything is crossed that can be crossed for you.
