I'm now 5 days post-op, and off the demerol. But since Sunday (I was banded on Thursday), I've had a pretty sharp pain in my stomach almost everytime I swallow saliva or any liquid (I'm on a liquid diet now). Is this normal? I know that everyone heals differently but should I be concerned? I put a call into my clinic, but I'm hoping to get some reassurance here faster because I'm really worried. And oddly this pain, which I'm almost sure is cause by the fluids passing through the band (maybe I'm just really swollen?), it will go away mid-pain if i inhale strongly enough...which is also sort of painful because my chest is still pretty tight. Any thoughts?

Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forums, but I'm so glad I found this site, the information from everyone's experience is invaluable. Anyway, I had my surgery this past thursday (April 12) and I just want to make sure that what I'm experiencing is normal... I've been having a lot of gas, not really coming out the rear end, but feeling the need to burp a lot without really being able to, which gets quite uncomfortable and almost constant gas-y noises coming from my stomach area...Just had my first BM today, and took some gas-x, which has helped a bit, but I just want to see if everyone else has had these issues. I had my surgery with Dr.Yau at TLBC this past surgery. I found everyone to be really nice and accomodating. I found Nisrine (I'm assuming that was who told you it would be your fault) to be also really informative, and I didn't get the same 'rude' answer when I asked her and the head nurse Darrell that question. She simply said it was about 2% or less. I wouldn't take that response as an indication of the level of professionalism or anything of the clinic. I was and continue to be really happy with my experience.

I'm not hungry, actually I feel quite full...I'm on a clear liquids diet until tomorrow and then i start protein shakes and other stuff. Mentally, I'm starving! lol I would love to binge on many, many things right now...I really didn't realize how big of a change this would be mentally, but I'm looking forward to seeing the pounds disappear!
