Very happy to report that I am due to have the sleeve on June 20th, 2013. I am excited, nervous, hopeful.....I have been on this journey for nearly 2 years. Quit smoking nearly 6 months ago, changed my thinking about food, now I find myself getting all ready, cleaning, buying what I will need, getting all my time off paperwork in order. I have decided to take 4 weeks off, so I can heal physically and emotionally, get used to the new belly. I will keep you al posted!!

Hello there! I have been a member for so very long and I am happy to say that my journey is on the horizen!! I have been attending groups through my insurance and the hospital I'm getting the surgery at for well over a year and a half. Smoking has kept me stuck for a while, I am happy to report I have been smoke free for 5 months now. So, now, I am cramming all of these last minute tests they are requesting and pending the results, I will get my ok to meet with the surgeon. I am excited, hopeful and keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well. I'm glad to report that I can check in here more often now because the process is close to beginning. Okie doke....thanks for being here everyone, luv this site. ~Kristen -

Thanks so much for sharing...I just love reading stories of success...and you are so positive, its great!! Im hoping to get the sleeve done myself...i have the orientation group thingie on april 28th...from there, I need to get everything in order. i already know my insurance, bcbsma finds the sleeve "investigational", but I have hope that I can appeal....since i have been anemic and take motrin daily, these wouldnt work so well with the bypass, plus, I feel the sleeve just makes more sense. How was the surgery process for you?? The few days after?? I had my gallbladder removed, so I'm thinking it may be somewhat simular, probably much more healing though...I am soooo eager to get this done and live a healthy life with a healthy weight. recently dignosed with type 2 diabetes as well, and Im hoping this can help me with that so I wont end up on medication. Thanks for letting me ramble... -
Congratulations!!! 30 Lbs is GREAT!!!! U look wonderful and probably feel great too!!! I am hoping and praying that I am able to get this procedure, it will change my life!! Thanks so much for sharing!!

Thank you so much for replying...some of my friends think I am nuts for wanting this procedure, saying I can do it alone...I am glad to have found this forum!! if i could do it alone, I would have years ago...they think I dont really have THAT much to lose...well, 100lbs is alot to me....and I need all the help I can get. I dont want to settle for the band, i really like the whole idea of the sleeve...I'm going to research and try my best to get what I feel is best for me. Thank you again!! -

Hello!! I am a 41yr old female...i have struggles with my weight my whole life. Weight watchers works for me for a while, and then I end up giving up...I usually lose about 40 lbs tops, which is great, but I need more help. I was just diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. i am a short woman...5' 11/2 and weighing about 242. my BMI is about 44. Considering I have the diabetes now, I am eligible for the surgery at a BMI of 35...but my insurance is BCBS of MA and it looks at the sleeve as investigational. This is the surgery i am most interested in. My doctor suggested we explore weight loss surgery if I was interested. I am!! I feel this will be a great tool to help me on my journey, and I know I need to change my lifestyle regarding food, especially with diabetes. i feel like I am babbling now...sorry! My questions...what can I do if i get denied for the sleeve? My 2nd option would be the band, but i would rather fight it and try to appeal. i live with chronic pain and need to take motrin for life...I have also had issues with anemia, and it seems as if this surgery would allow me to continue taking medications and not have to worry about vitamin deficiencies like the bypass. Has anyone had isurance issues? has anyone went with the lap band and regretted it? thank you soooo much!!
