Just-A-Gem

It seems that for the past 2 months my eating has become incrementally worse. I am craving carbs even worse than before and I would not have thought it possible. The first thing that I do when I get home is open the fridge and eat whatever is easiest. Then an hour later I prepare and eat dinner. About 3 nights a week I make my husband do a fast food run which is WAY more than we normally do that and it's costing us sooo much money. Last night I sent him for a slushy, an ice cream sandwich, a bag of gummy bears and gummy worms. I keep telling myself as I stuff my face "I won't be able to eat like this much longer." Sheeesh... I am at almost 300 lbs now and when I filled out my paperwork for surgery I was at 280 (in May)..... You think that with my 10 day liquid pre-op and some self discipline in the meantime I can get back to 280 by then? 1 month + 1 day to go!

I had my surgery on Friday and went back to work on the following Thursday. I wasn't scheduled to go back until the Monday after that but I felt well enough. I work in a desk job that I do have to move around at (dropping off books, picking up drawing packages, etc.). I only stayed 6 hrs that first day and then Friday I stayed the full 8 hours. It's really impossible to predict how you will feel post op, so just take it day by day and try to rest as much as you can, while you can.

Congrats on your success this far and for your continued success.. Let's just keep in mind that everyone's hospital experience will be different. You won't always have a catheter and you won't always have liberal access to pain drugs like that. Just one more thing that pre-op folks should know. That being said, I had almost NO pain post op besides tender incisions and a really tender stomach for the first 36 hours which I can more likely attribute to vomiting brought on by general anesthesia.. That's something I wish I'd known about pre-op.... your reaction to general anesthesia can vary widely. For me it was seriously unpleasant.

Finally updated! In the midst of moving and internet issues.. Really hard to update from phone.

10 days out and YES! I feel great and lost almost 10 lbs in the first 6-7 days.

Yes! It totally bothers me. I need to go get steri-strips myself. I feel pretty normal except for the painful burps when drinking too fast too.

As I write this me and Gardendiva3 are tucked away in the cozy San Diego Hampton Downtown. I know wannasleeve is somewhere nearby as well. I should still be sleeping, but I think it's safe to say that's not happening. I imagine Gardendiva's still asleep. Pray for us!

I can only tell you that I didn't. LOL. I was a witness to almost the whole time, but even I am on the edge of my seat. Me not going to the recovery house the first night was probably a good thing for me and the state I was in that day.

Thank you! I am pretty excited and I know everything will come out okay. The only thing I'm NERVOUS over is my flight in 13 hours.
