Don't worry about bulk vs. toning at this point. Bulk is more weight more recovery time between sets. Toning is less weight more reps. No apps until you have a CERTIFIED Personal Trainer. You have a new body and unfortunately less energy. Weight training although very important requires a lot of fuel or your muscles won't build up. Take it slow. Please do at least a couple of training classes before you hurt yourself.

Hey there, I wish I had a buddy going thru it. Did it march 2010 and down 140 lbs. It was the hardest thing I ever done. I am not going to say all these negative things about it that happens in the begging because #1-u may have a different experience and #2 every second of my exhaustion and hard work was ALL worth it and I would do it again. Please feel free to write me or maybe meet up for some Soup, haha. Im in Merrick so I can go anywhere. Good Luck!!! -patricia -
1 week and significant muscle loss !

I could not stomach Protein shakes or those chewable vitamins for the first 2 months! I had to eat very small portions of chicken and meat and take adult gummies vitamins. I loss muscle weight along with a ton of fat and THAT IS OKAY! When you regain your strength back and eat more and more frequently, you will get your protein in. But you have to do weight training! Drinking protein does not bring back bigger muscles. Your body is starving and attacking your muscles for fuel and easing off the fat. I have a lot of loose skin but it looks better now after I did weight training to bring definition back. Get some free weights from the house and start using your muscles. Trick your body by telling it that you are not starving somewhere and u have plenty of meat to live on so have the body feed off your fat! Thats what we are supposed to be doing! THIS IS OF COURSE AFTER YOU HAVE STRENGTH. DON'T SWEAT THE MUSCLE LOSS. IT HAPPENS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS BEEN THRU A MAJOR SURGERY. Give yourself a month before you start weight training. You will see the results after a week! You will be in front of the mirror flexing in no time!! Good Luck! -
You need weight training. Cardio is not enough especially when you lose weight as quickly as we do. If you are not familiar with weight machines or free weights, I would suggest a Personal Trainer. You will use the knowledge for the rest of your life. Group training is less expensive than personal training. It could cost 40 per session or cheaper in group. There are deals now because it is not the busy season yet. Look up pt training in your area online. Make sure they have the credentials. If you really want a deal, go to a local gym, get a free day pass and watch some personal trainers in action. Go approach them and talk to them. They might be independent but you have to get in the gym to talk to them. If you go to YMCA, then get a free week pass somewhere. I had personal training for a couple of months and thats all I needed to get the weight training education. Now I do it on my own. I think its a great idea for you to do it in a group!!!
