I live in Fayetteville and am going to be sleeved by Dr. William Johnson at Emory Johns Creek. I attend a support group in Peachtree City. If anyone lives on the south side and would like to come we would love to have you! Just let me know and I will send details. I just got approved today so I don't have my date yet, but I'm hoping for June. I hope we get a lot of Atlanta area members! Jackie (Rainy)

I bought a bag of frozen edmame in the podt. I followed the directions to boil in slightly salty water for 5 minutes. They are wonderful! I will be buying this regularly now. Anyone else? And what do you use them for other than snacking by themselves?
-
Has anyone used any other flavor besides unflavored Unjury? I only have vanilla and wonder how that work. Think I'll try it!
-
How do we find you on Facebook? I would be interested in hearing about exercises for loose skin.

Best Deal For Unjury Mix.
Rainydayz replied to ForMyfamily's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
There is a drugstore across from my surgeon's office that sells it for $23. It is worth it to me. I have tried the cheaper ones like body fortress from Walmart - the taste is fine but it is a little gritty. Unjury and Syntrax both mix up instantly and absolutely no chalky grit. Totally worth it. -
My favorite is still instant coffee (Taster's Choice is my fave) in a vanilla protein shake (Syntrax or Unjury are what I use) and a little sugar-free coffee mate or Torani syrup. Either shake it up or blend with ice. Just like Starbucks!

I tried these this morning. They are wonderful! Not exactly like bread but I think I can get used to them as a substitute. So light and fluffy. Thanks!

Any June Sleevers At Goal?
Rainydayz replied to Crabadams72's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have lost 109 and want to lose about 35 more. Need to get back on the exercise train! -
Tmi Question For Those About 1-Year Out
Rainydayz replied to Peony's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sugar-free stuff does this to me too. I go from one extreme to the other if I don't take my Benefiber every day. Sorry you're dealing with this. Maybe you could find another doctor that is sleeve-friendly and will take your issue seriously? Good luck! -
What If People Treat Me Better As A Thin Person? It Would Make Me So Angry!
Rainydayz replied to lunabella007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've definitely noticed it. Cashiers, salespeople, people in general are more friendly now. I think that people can be uncomfortable around a really heavy person so they don't make eye contact or talk any more than they have to. Sort of like how some people are uncomfortable around a disabled person maybe. They don't know how to act or where to look or what to say. Now I'm more "normal" in appearance they seem more at ease around me. -
Wow. That is amazing! Congratulations and keep rocking that sleeve!

Eating More Than Before Surgery
Rainydayz replied to Thankful's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That does not sound right. Maybe your nerves in your stomach are still numb from surgery and you just can't feel that you're over-full? Four eggs is way too much. I'm a year out and I don't know if I could even eat 4 eggs at a time. Not that I would ever try. Be careful. Ask your doctor what he/she thinks. -
I know this gets asked a lot and I'm sorry. I just can't find what I want with the search function. I tend to snack between Breakfast / lunch and lunch/dinner. But I'm so stuck on the foods and want to find some more interesting ones. Right now it's usually boiled shrimp or cheese and crackers. I know the crackers are carby so I'm looking for something to substitute. I do make the cheese chips sometimes and that's good. But still looking for something that I can keep in the fridge and grab for a quick bite. I have been told over and over by my nut that I need to eat fruit because I get constipated all the time. Maybe all the cheese? So if anyone has a good fruit dip, maybe with greek yogurt, that would be great. Anyway, what are your good, easy, non-constipating non-carby snack foods?

Oh wow thanks guys. Star, the chicken breast sounds great - I will def look for it. Lauranbob: I used to eat fresh mozz and tomatoes a lot - I had forgotten about it. And the cucumber and balsamic sounds delish. Calikat: yes, I have discovered the sugar-free vanilla latte at McD;s. My fave on-the-road treat! And those other suggestions are just what I need. I have done the mini quiches and they are great. I haven't tried the turkey pepperoni but I will and the fruit dip is just what I needed! I don't know why I don't think to go to Eggfaces site. She always has such good ideas. Thanks!!

Water Flavoring, What's Your Favorite?
Rainydayz replied to lose4good2012's topic in Food and Nutrition
Maybe that's why I like it! LOL! I also like the Mio energy Green Thunder flavor. I just googled it- Mio says their ice tea does not have caffeine but the energy ones do. -
You should get this checked out. I was having flutterings/palpitations and got it checked. Turns out I have premature atrial contractions which are not dangerous but just annoying. They are usually not associated with heart disease, just something that happens in a lot of people who are otherwise healthy. There were annoying enough that I elected to take medicine for it. I take metaprolol. It's cheap and I take 2 a day. If I hadn't went to the cardiologist and got checked out I would be very stressed out and worried. Do yourself a favor and get it checked. Better safe than sorry. And btw, this had nothing to do with the surgery. I was having episodes way back before surgery, but they had stopped for a while. They just came back after surgery but I don't believe it had anything to do with it.

I like the Mio ice tea flavor. I like Mio in general better than Crystal Lite. It doesn't taste AS artificial. -
Dr. Oz... So Happy With My Choice
Rainydayz replied to mommyinneed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I saw that episode too. I think it's going to take more than caraway seeds for that lady to get where she wants to be. But each person has their own path they need to find. I wish them well but I feel that Dr. Oz makes it sound way too easy with all his quick miraculous fixes and just take this pill recommendations. If I took everything he recommends I would go broke from buying it and do nothing all day but take pills and supplements. But he is nice to look at. -
How Successful Was Your Surgery?
Rainydayz replied to ShouldBlittler's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Updated: I have to say YES this surgery has been successful for me. I am not at goal yet and it's been 11 months but... I am so happy to be where I am. So I am going to give it a 9. 10 would be if it were magic and I looked like Angelina right now! I feel my relationship with food has changed so much. I have no doubt that I will get those last 30 or so pounds off. I am not exercising like I should be but I am holding steady at 185. That's a big difference from where I started at 292. And I have never held steady at any weight in my life. I have not been strict about eating the last couple of months and hardly any exercise and still holding steady. This is great. As I add back in the exercise I am confident the rest will come off. -
I may have to try this. Love me some sushimi. We have a grocery store here (Ingles) that claims it has sashimi grade tuna. I've never been brave enough to try it. Do you think it's OK? Or should I go find a real asian fish market? I live near Atlanta so I'm sure I can find one, but the Ingles is like next door.

I have a 40 and I think my restriction is just right. I'm 11 months out and am very happy with how much I can (and can't) eat. Sometimes I wish I could eat more. I just try to be careful and not get too full. It's uncomfortable and I'm too afraid of stretching out my sleeve.
-
I would put a pic if I knew how. The one I have has four compartments and each day is a separate container. I take pills 4 x a day. It's good that I can take a day's worth of pills with me in my purse, BUT the lids don't stay on very well, so I wind up with Vitamins in the bottom of my purse! I try to remember to slip a rubber band over it and that works. I'm looking for a similar one only better made. I think I got mine at Walgreens.

Is it close to the time of the month for you? That's when I crave carbs. I've learned to be prepared for that with some dark chocolate and Zumba or yoga! Yep, exercise cuts the carb cravings for me. It makes me hungry but for protein. And yoga definitely helps with the cramps. Maybe start charting the days you crave and see if there is a correlation. And be sure and take your vitamins religiously.

New Here! Just Want Wanted Your Thoughts!
Rainydayz replied to Piplula's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Heavens yes I had those thoughts! Still do occasionally but mostly I'm happy with where I am and where I'm going. I feel like after 100 lbs. that I never thought I would lose again I will be able to get to goal and stay there. I do not have an unrealistic goal and I accept that I am a slowish loser. But I feel I have come to a place where I have changed my relationship with food. I was afraid that wouldn't happen in the beginning, especially after the head hunger returned. But I feel that I have learned to not "use" food like a drug anymore. It takes time and you have to work it - but it will work for you! -
Not to goal yet but still going in the right direction!
