So I fired my WL Surgeon!
Rainydayz replied to myrori's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally it is the anecdotal information that I'm here for. I don't ever expect to go to a public forum and get gathered and collated information. I go to published studies for that. And honestly... I enjoyed the heck out of Mirori's and Tiffykin's stories! -
Level of discomfort first few weeks after surgery
Rainydayz replied to welittle1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first week I had terrible heartburn pain and I was exhausted all the time. The second week the Prilosec had started working and I was able to do housework, walk, go shopping etc. just got a little more tired than I used to. The 3rd week I was eating mushy foods and felt much much better. My stitches were healed nicely and the dr. said I could go swimming. I went to the pool a lot and started walking more. The 4th and 5th week (where I am now) I feel better than I did before surgery. I'm lighter and move better. I'm beginning to eat regular food and I feel absolutely normal. I do yardwork in 95+ temp. and go hiking with the family. -
Anybody else really annoyed by all the ads lately?
Rainydayz replied to wondering1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There's also an Adblocker plus for Google Chrome. It works too. Don't know about IE, I never use that one. -
Anyone else having trouble with Fast reply?
Rainydayz posted a topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
It's not working for me. I get some weird message about the form not loading correctly. I have to use the add reply for it to work. Just wondering if it's just me. -
When did your suregeon Allow you to start swallowing pills again?
Rainydayz replied to Kristy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked at my 2 week appt. and he said I could try pills whenever I felt comfortable doing it. I just started taking the Citrical Petites (which are not really so petite) and they go down ok. I'm almost 5 weeks. -
The trick I've found is to not let myself get too hungry. Keep a cheese stick in your purse and if it's been 3 hours since you ate last then eat it. It will take the edge off and when you get to your next meal you won't be starving.

How long are leaks usually a concern?
Rainydayz replied to VSG4aHealthierMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's pretty scary to think about all that rerouting and undoing and redoing with your intestines and stomach. But I would guess the surgeons know what they're doing and the body is an amazing thing. I hope your friend does well and gets everything worked out. -
5 DAYS POST OP AND STARVING
Rainydayz replied to irish princess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It gets better when you start pureed foods. I was starving the first week too. I even cooked ribs for the 4th of July and couldn't eat any! Boy it smelled good! But when I started mushy foods I was able to get satisfied. I'm almost 5 weeks out now and the hunger is a whole lot less. Some days I have to be reminded to eat. -
Dietician is confusing me!
Rainydayz replied to heartonmysleevey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It doesn't sound like she knows what she's talking about at all. If you still need a dietician I would call the surgeon's office and get a recommendation from them. One that understands weight loss surgery and the pre-diet process involved. Good luck! -
Migraines Non Stop will VSG cure this?
Rainydayz replied to Liliana Arleen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had migraines for decades that are usually triggered by hormones. I got one regularly with my period and sometimes in between too. They usually lasted 3-4 days and nothing helped except Imitrex. I've had my period once since surgery and still had a migraine. But it didn't last as long and I didn't have to take as much Imitrex. I think eating better helps. Maybe because I'm not screwing up my system with junk food? I dunno. It's a good question to ask at the seminar though. -
SIZE 34 BOUGIE
Rainydayz replied to TheSweetesThing84's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine used a 40. I'm 4 weeks out and can barely eat 2 oz. of dense protein. I did get reflux though so I'm taking a PPI and that has helped a lot. -
Please Advise about odor
Rainydayz replied to SmokyMtnGal2011's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 4 weeks out and after about the 1st week my husband told me I smelled different. I figured it was my breath so I try to use mouthwash every day and keep some mints around. All I usually taste are these darn vitamins that make me want to barf! Iron burps are awful! -
Could I still have gas pains one month later?
Rainydayz posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Last night my shoulder hurt so much just like it did right after surgery. I'm wondering if it could still be some gas working its way out or something else? -
How long are leaks usually a concern?
Rainydayz replied to VSG4aHealthierMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr. told me that leaks are highly unlikely after the staple line has healed, could be up to 3 months in some people for full healing. But very unlikely after 48 hours. That's why they do the leak test right after and before you go home. I've heard of undoing an RNY but revising... I don't know what that would entail. -
Could I still have gas pains one month later?
Rainydayz replied to Rainydayz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I did dig up a shrub in the flower garden a couple days ago. I suppose that could be it. It's a lot better today so maybe it was just sore.. -
i made a really bad food choice tonight
Rainydayz replied to juzmejnee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You didn't fail. 3 oz. of mousse is not going to ruin you. Go get yourself some sugar free jello pudding and sugar free cool whip and make your own guilt-free mousse. And tell those people no thanks next time they try to foist something like on you. You're only human! -
I'm 4 weeks out and I still feel that, especially if I take too big a bit or eat too much. I've been Prilosec since day 5 and that helped a lot. It seems to help to drink warm stuff. It's worse in the mornings and I usually don't eat breakfast because of it. I just drink warm tea or something like that. I hope it goes away soon.

Native Americans don't generally have much facial hair, but the Greek part - that would probably make up for it! I'm not Greek but I have issues with the facial hair. I wax and pluck. Probably will the rest of my life. <<sigh>> If you try the No No thing let us know how it works!

Need to take vitamins rest of life?
Rainydayz replied to Nancy Rivers's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I was told that I needed a sublingual B12 because the part of my stomach that makes intrinsic factor is gone, and if I don't take B12 it could lead eventually to pernicious anemia. I figure that a bottle of sublingual B12 that costs about $5 and lasts for 4 months is well worth it. -
I can't imagine why it would hurt on your right side. The stomach is on the left side right? Maybe referred pain? Dunno. But I would stop before I felt that next time.

This is soooo weird....
Rainydayz replied to Dud2Stud's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt that way the first few days after surgery. But then it's like my stomach woke up or something and I started getting really hungry. Once I started pureed foods I found that I would get hungry but I could eat just a few bites of something and that carried me for quite a while. I'm a little over 3 weeks out now and just today I haven't been hungry at all. I've only had 2 Protein shakes and 1 stick of string cheese so far and I'm just not hungry but I will eat some protein for dinner. I don't know if it's because I've been exercising a lot more the past couple of days or what. I hope it lasts! -
30 days out and not losing
Rainydayz replied to 300PoundsDown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have weighed the same since Thursday which was the 3 week point for me. I'm glad I read about it before hand. I have had a lot more energy the past few days however and I've stepped up my walking and yard work. I'm not freaking out but I hope it doesn't last too long! -

Calcium Citrate chewable--Which one taste the best?
Rainydayz replied to Penpen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Upcal. $17 for a box of 120 single serve packets. They're 500 mg. each packet of calcium citrate. It's powder you can mix in beverages or just take like pixie sticks. They taste pretty good. I got mine on Amazon from BP Medical Supplies.
