    WONDERING???

Well when I weighed 140 I was a 38 B/C. Now at 290 I'm a 44 DDD. So compared with now I guess back then I would have felt like I had no boobs. But honestly I'm looking so forward to these beach balls becoming softballs again!

Cottage cheese - how to tell if it's bad

Hmmm. Yeah, probably better safe than sorry. It's weird that it didn't smell bad tho.
  3. I have 3 kids and DH to cook for. DH works long hours and I'm unemployed. After surgery how on earth will I manage to still cook regular dinners while I'm eating just liquids and mushies? We stay on a very strict budget and eating out is just not in the budget very often, especially after all the dr. bills! I was thinking about getting some freezer meals made up ahead of time but I'm not very good at that. How did you do with having to fix food for the family when you couldn't eat it yourself?
  4. Lots of great advice. My kids are 11, 9 and 7. They can manage scrambled eggs, mac & cheese, frozen pizza, hotdogs etc. It'll probably be in the summer when I have surgery so they will be home all day. I think I will get off my butt and actually do some freezer cooking and make sure I have easy stuff on hand too. Thanks!

    Georgia Sleevers

I'm in Fayetteville. My surgeon will be Dr. Johnson in Johns Creek. If anyone knows of a support group on the southside please let me know. Not looking forward to driving through Atlanta for meetings! BTW Oopseedaisy, I used to live in LaGrange.
  6. I've seen a lot of people talking about those Eggface recipes. I've been to her blog but it's hard finding the recipes. They are all kind of spread out as far as I can tell. Is there a place where she has them all in one spot, like a recipe book or do you just have to search for them?
  7. I thought Star Jones looked terrible at first. But now she's looking OK. Maybe I'm just getting used to her idk. I don't care if I DO look terrible at first. I look pretty darn terrible NOW! It can't get much worse!
  8. I've been reading some stories that talk about people years after WLS and they usually say they are eating less than or around 1000 cal. per day. Why so few? According to most calorie calculators I have tried it says that a 5'5" 120 lb. woman with light activity would have to eat about 1700 calories to maintain her weight. Is everyone just really short or what?

I didn't know you could drink aloe vera juice. I thought it was just for rubbing on burns! I'll have to check that out. Thanks!

    Day 19. Wipeout

Sorry you're feeling so crappy. It sucks to be sick whether or not you've just had major surgery, but probably more so because hey, you just had major surgery. I'm sure everything feels multiplied by infinity. Even now, pre-surgery, if I feel something like a little pain, or a little weirdness, I think that if I was already sleeved I might think it was due to that. So I'm trying to keep that in mind. But get thee to bed and pamper yourself for a while. Your body is still trying to get over major surgery and it needs all the help it can get. Feel better. Be good to yourself. Did I mention that you just had major surgery?
  12. Does that mean 6 dr. visits or 7? If I had my 1st diet appt. on April 1, my second on May 1 and so on would I have to have the last one on Aug. 1 (6 visits) or Sept. 1 (7 visits)? In other words do I have to actually BE ON the diet for 6 full months or just have 6 visits? Does that make sense? And in your experience are the insurance companies sticklers for the "within the last 2 years" requirement? I ask because I have some diet visits from April-Aug. 2009 and I'm wondering if my surgery is not scheduled until like May or June would they still count those from 2009?

    Menstrual Cup?

OK sorry for the graphic nature here but hey we're in the ladies room right?... Does it get all over your hand when you fish it out? I can't even use OB tampons. I just can't go fishing around up in there during that time of the month. Really, is it messy?

    Hormones--help!!!

Oh no, tell me it ain't so! I have such problems with PMS now as it is, I was hoping it would get better after the sleeve! Is it just in the losing phase? Oh crap, how am I going to manage if my mood swings get any worse?
  15. I want to ask my dr. what size he uses but I don't want to sound like an idiot when I do!
  16. Buying clothes that were not designed by Omar the Tent Maker and his Bedazzler. Having wild monkey sex and not wishing he would just hurry up and finish because I am sooo tired. Going off the diving board (weight limit 250 lbs.). Running. Going to my high school reunion and not being embarrassed. Living.
  17. Oh honey you have been through the wringer! How would they know if you're using the CPAP machine? Asthma? I have asthma and I can't believe anyone could have it and not know. It sounds like they're just looking for stuff to be wrong with you. I know it is late in the game but is it possible to find another surgeon that won't make you go through all these hoops? If you have most of your records already you could just take them and give them to the new doctor (make copies to keep first) and see if that's enough to submit. I don't know. That sounds like a whole lot of extra stuff they're trying to make you do. Good luck and I hope you get your surgery soon!

    Another silly supervised diet question...

Holy cow that is great! Thanks for the info guys! That means that I could be submitting very soon! I saw my PCP yesterday and got all my previous diet history and there was one more month in there I had forgotten about. Yippee! Excuse me while I count out loud: I have visits from 6/09, 7/09, 8/09 and 12/09. My insurance says I have to have 6 months with only 3 being consecutive: (6, 7 and 8/09). I had my 1st nut. appt. March 16. 2nd on April 11. So I count that as six! My appt. with dr. is April 26. He requires an upper G.I. After that I will have everything done. Let's get this thang submitted!! I could be done and recovered in time for family reunion in July!
  20. Does that mean 6 dr. visits or 7? If I had my 1st diet appt. on April 1, my second on May 1 and so on would I have to have the last one on one Aug. 1 (6 visits) or Sept. 1 (7 visits)? In other words do I have to actually BE ON the diet for 6 full months or just have 6 visits? Does that make sense?
  21. That's good information about the grehlin and other hormones. Your doctor sounds like he knows what he's talking about. I also think the sleeve will allow you eat in a more normal and healthy way. You may not be eating enough with the band. And if you fear everything you eat then that seems to be a very hard way to live. I don't have either yet but I have decided on the sleeve after reading so many stories like yours of people with the band having so many problems. If I ever have a doubt I just come here and read some revision stories and that sets my mind at ease! Thanks and I hope you do great with the sleeve!
  22. If we increase muscle does that raise the metabolic rate? I've heard that muscle burns more calories than fat.

    sleeved april 11th..yesterday

    Feel better soon!
  24. Holy cow I hope not! I think they just mean that most people have to do 1 to 2 weeks of low carbs or liquids right before surgery. My doc says just don't gain and nothing solid the day before surgery. But I believe I will probably do at least a few days of liquids so I won't have much in my bowels after surgery.
  25. Absolutely, if your drs. say it's OK, I would go for it. The hysterectomy will probably be the hardest to recover from and if you have them together it's one recovery not two. Good luck and let us know!
