  1. After 10 long excrutiating days, I have finally broke my plateau!!! I was stuck at 200lb and this morning I am 199!!! Woohoo! 1 lb!!! I am so happy! I had my sleeve on March 7th. This now puts me at a total of pre and post surgery loss of 26lbs! I see light at the end of this level of the tunnel!!
  2. Hello all! My name is Deb. I had VSG on March 7th 2011. I was so excited that I lost 10lb prior to surgery on the preop diet. I was even more excited when at 3 weeks post op I had lost 15 more lbs!! For the past week I have been stuck on 200lbs! I know I shouldnt weigh daily, but I have to admit I am a slave to the scale. I really dont mind this, as long as I saw a lb or two of loss! I have tried to not be counting calories, just eating like Im supposed to; I am pretty savvy to all this and I know I am averaging probably 500-600'ish calories per day! my gut tells me that this is probably NOT ENOUGH and my body is reacting to this, despite the fact that I am doing well to get close to or more than 60g Protein daily. i take my Vitamins, Calcium + D and B12. I have NOT been excercising every day but I know that I need to so I started back yesterday. Its real hard for me with drinking Water.......I am just not a Fluid person.......but I do try hard to get at LEAST 32oz plain water daily! I also sip green tea, eat sugar free popsicles...........BUT..........I am not terribly hungry! I cant see how to get 1000 cal/day only having "breakfast-lunch-supper" as my doc prescribes! I have always heard and seem to believe the every 3hr pattern is good for metabolism, and I could see it easier to get more healthy calories. I read earlier that this is a common phenomenon to have this 3 week stall. Gosh, I hope so. I have such high hopes for success for this and I am truley committed. Also, my doctor told me that removing the grehlin producing portion of my stomach would keep me from "feeling" hungry but sometimes I do!! Of course it is NOTHING like before surgery, and I tolerate it much much better; a few sips of water, green tea or even a SF popsicle usually helps. My body still has the same desire to have a eating pattern of "naw not hungry early" and "ravenous after five"! I had hoped this would not be so. I dont know what to do to combat this. Thanks for listening everyone and I hope to have great feedback!

    MIndless Eating

OMG! Nights are the worst. But yes, keeping a glass of bottle of water at my fingertips seems to help. I am only 4 weeks out but already feel some of my old habits sneaking in. I have always been BAD about not getting enough sleep. I would start working on paperwork for my job at 9pm and be at it until 12:30 or 1:00am in front of the tv. Not only am I sabotaging my much needed rest, I was eating too! Last night I stayed up REAL late watching marathon Mad Max......I was tired, knew I should go to bed. Guess what? I WANTED TO MUNCH!!! I gave in to some pretzel sticks ....not too bad but still felt guilty! So my goal is to get my work done early, and get in bed by 10:30 to 11pm and NO LATE NIGHT SNAKS!
  6. I had some opposition, mainly from my mother of all people! Follow your heart, and your gut. Do what is RIGHT for YOU!!! Everyone else does not have to live your life, live in your body or feel your feelings! I did it and DO NOT regret it! For me this is a forever permanent rest of my life problem, so I went for the forever permanent treatment! GREAT LUCK TO YOU!

    hospital stay?

I was in a regular hospital room, with a fold down style love seat sized bed. My husband was on a business trip, and I had a friend with my son so noone stayed but when my hubby came in town he could have if he wanted!

    Guilt??? Who else....

I understand. I am about 4 weeks post op, and I feel guilty just to take an extra bite or two!! What suks is I KNOW its not amounting to much calories! I think we have self installed very nasty guilt-o-meters for so many years that its gonna take awhile to get over it. Im trying. I just keep telling myself Im doing good Ive done the right thing and I CAN be successful!
  9. I'm glad to hear someone feeling similar to me! I am 4 weeks postop tomorrow. I have been on soft foods 1 week now. My first meal of about 1/8c scrambled eggs and about 1/4 peice of toast filled me up so much!!! Now this am the same amount didnt seem the same, yet I can FEEL fairly satisfied and I DONT feel that ravensously hungry feeling like before surgery when I ate a small amount.......Wow. you did eat ALOT for dinner! I am wondering if you need to slow down while you eat. That is what I learned in the preop class. Here is my thought, and what I would do; cut that fish portion down to 2 oz, and only 1 slice of avocado. or keep the fish the same and ditch the avo altogether. Also switch your veggies to something high fiber(but soft cooked) remember high Fiber and high Protein satiate faster!! What I do when I finish this little dab of food on my little tiny plate, I just SIT THERE. I also try to take very small bites and go slow but that is hard! But I SIT there and wait and just FEEL my food settling. I am like you; at this point nothing is bothering my stomach. In the first two weeks, I could not eat tomato Soup because it seemed to burn! As far as the weight.......I too am at a plateau now since the 27th. I lost 15lb from 3/7 to 3/27 now I'm stuck on 200lbs!! My cal intake is prob 500-600'ish and I cant seem to get it up there with out eating something bad or feeling like I am eating all the time! I am working on increasing my exercise. I have been reading that there is a plateau at this point. As well as I realized last night that "mother nature" is around the corner, and that ALWAYS affects me! I hope this helps, and I am right there with you!! Deb

    Almost 4 weeks since surgery

Gosh! Great advice! Thanks. Ya my starting bmi was 40(before i lost the 10lb before surgery) so at surgery I only weighed 215 and my bmi was 38. I have been stuck at 200lb since the 27th. my block is 1/2 mile. I walked it twice yesterday. I did realize last night, that "mother nature" is only about 10 days away....and boy can I tell it! I tend to PMS; I am already feeling that "I wanna eat I wanna eat I wanna eat" feeling, even though I am not hungry. I am trying to stay busy, and when I just feel like I HAVE to put something in my mouth, of course make it good for me, a small amount and keep drinking hot green tea or Water. My husband is far away right now in Arlington VA (Im in texas) We talk several times per day with facetime on the Ipod so that helps. He is so encouraging and tells me I am just fine. I guess I had some unrealistic expectations since that first 15lbs came of SO fast! Well, I am going to go and get ready to take a walk......thanks again for responding!

    11 Days Out

I just had surgery almost 4 weeks ago. I once had a man very similar to the one you had. Your story literally brought tears to my eyes. Learning to love ourselves is very very hard but once we do, we find true love. I wish you all the success with your surgery! Lots of Love!
