I will be there on the 18th for my 6th and last required appointment.

I have been going to AIGB in Hurst since May and I noticed that Cigna has been denying the claims every month. When I went to my appointment yesterday they never said anything and they also made my appointment for next month. I thought that they submit everything to the insurance company when you first start to make sure that you will be covered. I know that LapBandSolutions handles the insurance part but I have not heard from them either. Is this normal?

Which insurance do you have? I was advised by AIGB to get my nutrional consult in as soon as possible. I am about to start my second month.

I have Cigna also and I was wondering if they tell you why you were denied? Did you have to do the six month diet? Hopefully I am not asking too many questions.

I have Cigna insurance and I will have to complete the 6 month diet prior to approval. I went to my primary doctor in April to talk with her about it and she gave me the go ahead. In that visit we only discussed my diet and the possibility of the surgery. My question is can that count as my first visit or with that now start this month (May) with AIGB?

:help: I contacted Cigna today to see if they will cover the cost of the nutritionist for the 6 month required diet. They said that with the plan that I have they will cover a nutrionist for 3 visits within one year and they also noted the trend of Cigna denying to pay my primary doctor ( if I decide to do the diet with her) until the surgery is scheduled. How does this work? I will probably have to see my primary doctor for the diet but then when they send in the paperwork requesting payment Cigna will keep denying it for the next 6 months until I am scheduled for the surgery? What if I am never approved for the surgery? Will I then owe my doctor 6 months of back payments? Can this really be true??? Please explain this to me.:help:

Are you having your surgery at Presby Denton? I have Dr. Marsden also but I have Cigna, do you think that I may have the same dilemna?

Do you know why they would not approve the surgery center and which insurance do you have? One of the reasons that I picked this center was because of the location. I also thought that this was a day surgery, will I have the stay in the hospital also?

I was very excited to read your post about your approval. I have Cigna also with a 40 BMI and no cormorbities. My surgeon will be Dr Marsden but I believe that he uses the same insurance office as Dr. Carter.

This helps a lot. How did he know to do that or is this something that I would need to tell my doctor? So basicly, do I need to start going for health/weight related issues and then include the diet plan so that they will also appear in my records?

I did not know that you had to have a BMI of over 40 for all five years. I may not get approved either.

I know exactly where that is. My appointment is next week but I have been told that sometimes your insurance will not approve the surgery at one center because of costs but will approve it at another. My insurance requires the 6 month diet so it may be a while for me, even though I have been doing that already.

Does your insurance require the 6 month diet with doctor?

I live in Texas for a doctor in North Texas, even more specific in the mid-cities.

Does this doctor have a website? I am still trying to pick a surgeon.

Where is this medical center? Are you in Texas?
