We have very similiar results. I was banded on Jan. 21st and I had my second fill yesterday. I have lost a total of 27 pounds since the surgery and I lost 10 on the pre-op diet. I do workout and I have only lost one more pound that you have so I think that you are doing very well. I have been surviving by will power also and counting my calories really keeps me in check. We will succeed with this and I would love to hear how your doing a year from now.

I am due for my second fill next week but for some reason I keep eating, even when I'm not hungry. I still closely watch what I eat, I never exceed 1200 calories and I am still consistantly loosing but I just can't seem to stop eating. I know that the hunger is head hunger and I am hoping that my fill next week will help this. Does anyone else feel this way?

I have never PB'd, slimed or anything. I did eat dinner after posting this and I am now full. I think that one of my problems is that when I'm eating a meal, I may not be eating enough. I just ate 2oz of Talapia and 1/2 of cabbage and I am very full. I rarely feel this way.

I have the same issue when I am on the elliptical. I used to think that I may be diabetic until I found out that it hapens to a lot of people. When my feet start to go numb, I shake my feet.

might as well be addicted to crack

We are in the same boat. I was also banded in January, I have only had one fill and I have no restriction. The only thing that keeps on track is that I count my calories(making sure that I never exceed 1200) and I go to the gym. My portion size is also getting bigger but I know that will change after a couple of fills. By the way nothing has made me PB, Slime or Throw Up either. Someimes I wonder if I really have the band. -
My surgeon required a high protein low carb diet. I had to do it for one week and I lost 10 pounds. I was very relieved to not have to do liquids.

Wow, I have only had one fill so far. I know that this may sound funny but right now I don't have a lot of restriction and I'm about 2 weeks from getting my second fill, so I am surviving off will power and I like it that way. Now don't get my wrong, I would like it if I had more restriction but being this way also makes me deal with my food addictions.

Do you buy any clothes while your weight is transitioning down?
Joaquin replied to citygirl4616's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been getting the majority of my clothes from Steve and Barry's since they are having their $8.98 sale and also Old Navy. -
How long after your 1st fill did you get your 2nd?
Joaquin replied to 010308's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow every 10 days. I got my first fill at 4 weeks and will get my second at 8 weeks. I don't really have any restriction either but I was prepared for that. I am also a person that does not have a lot of fat around my stomach so I'm wondering if my fills won't last that long. Dr. Marsden told me that I was a "little bitty thing" and I could have hugged him. -
I just happened to make my favorite no-bake cheesecake tonight. 8oz Fat-Free Philadelphia Cream cheese 1 container of Free Cool Whip Splenda to taste( I may have used about 1/2 cup or less) Reduced Fat Graham Cracker Crust Mix together and put in fridge for about 2 hours to set in place. When I was on mushies and craved something sweet I would eat this cheesecake. It's fantastic and in my opinion it does not taste like its fat free.

Doctor says eating too few calories...????
Joaquin replied to Banded08's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would have to agree with the everyone. I was banded on 1/21/08 and I lost the majority of my weight on the pre-op diet. I have been loosing about 3 pounds a week by eating 800-1000 calories. If I was to go lower I would stop loosing like I did on the post-op diet. -
Donuts are not worth it....what's your food that's not worth it???
Joaquin replied to blahblahblah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am a big donut lover, so this was a good thing for me to see. I have not had anything make my slime or PB yet but I did eat some fat free cheesecake and ice cream thinking that I would be ok but since they would slide down but I was very wrong. I started to get the pain about 30 minutes later. Valueable lesson learned. -
I am do for my first fill on Wendesday the 20th so this may no longer be an issue but there are times ( a lot of times) that I cannot imagine only eating a 1/2 cup of food at a time. I watch my portions and I have also been loosing weight but I eat closer to a cup and unforntunelty sometimes a little more. I make sure that I don't eat more than 1200 calories, as a matter of fact I have never made it to 1200. I am starving and I keep thinking that maybe I have stretched out my pouch. I know that all of my worries will be resolved when I see the surgeon, but is 1/2 cup of food keeping you full?

Is a 1/2 cup of food keeping you full?
Joaquin replied to Joaquin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I watch what I eat and incorporated more fish into my diet so that the protein will also keep me full. I have been eating a lot of Tilapia which for me is a miracle because the only fish that I would eat before being banded was a BK Big Fish. I made a pot of potato soup for dinner tonight and I plan on adding shrimp (Thanks Paula Deen) to help me with my hunger. -

Joaquin replied to Joaquin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for the wonderful advice. I follow all of the eating and drinking rules and I was having a lot of guilt for eating so much. I feel a lot better now. I have had friends that have had the surgery and they said that after they started getting fills they no longer even needed to count their calories because they were eating enough to really worry about it. -
How many calories do you eat a day?
Joaquin replied to Lillyanne_M's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgeon advised 1000-1200. I have not had my first fill yet but I ususally average 800-1000. -
I submitted 5 years but they told me that Cigna only required one.

Port placement???
Joaquin replied to NewGalWithABand's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still have a little soreness from my port and it is under my left breast also. I call it my baby and sometimes my baby starts to kick. -
You can not get away without doing the six month diet. It is a requirement no matter what your BMI is. Trust me, it was not that bad.
-
When my paperwork was submitted for approval my BMI was 40.1. I did not have to do the pre-op diet until I was approved for the surgery. I had to do the diet a week prior to surgery and then it did not matter what my BMI was since it was already approved and they don't have to submit any additional paperwork for approval. Basically once your approved your BMI can go down. By the time I had the surgery after doing the pre-op diet my BMI was 38.

I went through AIGB in Hurst, Dr. Marsden did my surgery on 1/21 and I have Cigna. I was only out of pocket $200 for the surgery. Cigna does not cover Dr. Marsden fills so I may have to go to the surgery center where they are considered a regular doctors visit or go to another surgeon. The only reason that I am hesitant about going to the diagnostic center is because they do the poke and fill and they don't use the xray. ( Or so I have been told). I will have my first 2 fills with Dr. Marsden because he covers those but then I will need to make some decisions. By the way I really like Dr. Marsden and I really don't want to change surgeons.
-
I was approved with no commorbities by Cigna but when my paperwork was submitted for approval my BMI was 40.1. I had to make sure that I never went under 40 during the 6 month diet.

I don't care for the taste of my water either so I add the WalMart brand packs and they have no calories. Crystal Light has an after taste to me so I tried this brand instead and I love them.
-
Can I be added also? I was banded on the 21st.

I burp all of the time. They are definetly louder and longer than they have ever been and my little boy is always teasing me.
