    Medicare Advantage Insurance

As long as Medicare will not approve the sleeve..no medicare advantage plan will. They all follow the guidelines set by Medicare. I wrote to my local congressman..you should do the same. That is what Medicare told me to do. Got the response yesterday...he said he has contacted the right officials to look into this matter and as soon as he gets a response he will contact me. I'm in the same boat as you are...they cover everything but the sleeve....

Do NOT do what I did today!

I need to lose about 100 pounds. Am seriously thinking about having the sleeve done...but when I read about how sick one can become...maybe I should think twice...I've eaten fast many times in my life...

    Medicare

Last night was the first time I registered on this site. I announced that a woman I met via computer and myself were in the same boat...waiting for Medicare to approve the gastric sleeve so I posted an idea we came up with yesterday...first showing a letter I wrote several weeks ago to a congressman and then mentioned creating---today---a national petition for people to sign..as there is power in numbers...and just this morning I noticed my letter having been removed from the internet. Strange..I say...to not be able to unite in this so-called democracy....still wondering who took my letter to my congressman off the internet in less than 24 hours...? I have my suspisions...you can reach me at fightforjustice@yahoo.com unless someone feels like stopping anyone from reaching me...we'll see.

    Financing my surgery

Have never been sleeved yet...I'm in awe of all of you brave people who casually mention you've had 65-85% of your stomach removed....seems like a pretty serious decision to make...but I am leaning toward the sleeve anyway..I don't like the concept of the lap band and I don't like the idea of a gastric bypass which they say leaves you with a stomach the size of a walnut...so that leaves the sleeve...even though I've heard of another procedure called the mini-bypass....which is the best way to go to get rid of diabetes...that is my deeper reason for this whole thing....Some surgeons say without reservation that the gastric bypass is by far the best to get rid of diabetes..while other surgeons say the sleeve can be just as effective...anyone have any comments about that controversial subject...the way I figure it...get the sleeve...if it works..great..if not..can always turn a sleeve operation into a gastric bypass but supposedly not the other way around. I need to lose about 100 to 110 pounds....been researching this whole subject for about 1 year and 3 months now....any feedback would be greatly appreciated....thanks in advance...

Is Medicare really covering VSG? or not?

I recently was told by Medicare that the best thing to do to get the gastric sleeve operation approved by Medicare is to write to my local congressional representative..so I did. If you want to read my letter to Rep. Ted Deutch in Boca Raton, Florida you can find it by googling "Having Medicare approve the gastric sleeve operation to rid millions of diabetes...also met a woman on line today who shares my determination to have Medicare cover the sleeve surgery..so we've decided to create a National Petition where people can list their names and make a comment or two. . We believe there is power in numbers. We plan on creating this National Petition tomorrow. Please add your name to it if you share our vision of hope regarding this procedure being covered FINALLY by Medicare. Will keep you posted once we figure out where this petition should appear.
