oh no...!!! you didn't......!!!!!
Griselda replied to GA Girl Best in the World's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think it is jealousy and a fear that you will be all skinny and she will still be struggling and then that you won't look at her the same way again. I know deep down I would feel the same way if my sister had gotten her surgery first (not that I'd say it was an abomination or anything) but I would secretly be seething and I might even say some stupid things. Jealousy is a powerful demon. Just let her have some time to cool off about it. Is she considering surgery at all? (Maybe she really wants to have some but can't afford it). -
I just bought a cup of it and could only eat about 1/4 of it. It was good, I mainly ate the liquidy part and left the chicken, tortillas and whatnot in the bowl. I like that there is an option in case my son wants a bean burrito (he loves them, but he has always been a small eater, can only eat about 3/4 of a party one). Has anyone else tried it?

Weakening of Tooth Enamel after surgery?
Griselda replied to RVAGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have noticed it, but only because my mouth has been so dry during the night. (I'm still on my cpap) and I wake up with a terrible cotton mouth, also, during the first few weeks when liquid intake was slowed down, my mouth was dry during the day. I don't know if this is happening to you. Let me know about that enamel stuff, I didn't know you could get that. -
I found these at the Dollar General store (of all places). They are like a slim jim, but cut into little tiny bites that come in a little bag. A serving is 7 bites (which is all I can eat anyway). They are 90 calories per serving with 10 grams of protein. It makes a nice snack or something savory when you want a little nibble. Compared to the ones that are beef (or maybe beef/pork) they are 6 more grams of protein and 30 calories less. WOOT!!

Oooh, 6 stone is a lot!! You're doing great! Love the pooch, he/she looks a bit like mine. I've not tried lettuce or pizza or Pasta yet, but I am hoping I will be able to have small amounts occasionally. You must post some before/during pics to inspire us. I am about 1 1/2 months out and down about 2 1/2 stone.

Non-Sweet Protien Drinks - Do they exist?
Griselda replied to Shae's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I posted this on another post too, Spiru-tein has chocolate and vanilla flavor protein powder that is completely unsweetened (you add your own sweetener). Otherwise, the only savory I can think of is the chicken soup unjury protein. -
Spiru-tein has vanilla and chocolate protein that are unsweetened, you add your own sweetener as much or as little as you want. They sell them in single serving packets, so you could try them out first.

Pre-op shakes question
Griselda replied to Texasmom65's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think everyone is different. I'm post op, pre op, the shakes were not too satisfying, but I was on full liquids and they helped to make sure I was getting protein. Post op, I still drink them and I find them VERY filling, it takes me about 30 to 45 minutes to drink one and then I don't want to eat anything for a long time. I know some plans say no, but this way I am making sure I get my protein and other vitamins/minerals and I make mine with skim milk so I get the added protein and benefits of milk too. -
Pre-Op liquid diet
Griselda replied to Heather~ Sweetdreams's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I did two weeks of liquids, full liquids until the last three days when I did all clears. The first five days were hard, the rest was easy. On the clears, I was having a lot of popsicles, sugar free jello, water, apple juice, broth using the packets from ramen noodles and that was about it. (I am not too keen on chicken broth). -
I stopped my meds about two weeks prior to surgery because my food intake was so low, (surgeon's orders). I did not have to start them again either, so far.

I've lost approx 40 pounds since starting this whole project and my waist has only changed by approximately 1.5 inches. I carry most of my weight in my middle, but I am wondering, is it possible that some of the visceral fat is shifting but I just don't see the difference on the outside? Nothing else seems to have shrunk much either. I have (had?) metabolic syndrome and my blood pressure and blood sugar are now normal. Anyone else notice this? I do notice my face is thinner and my calves and feet.
-
If you are pre-op, I drank lots of apple juice, green smoothies, homemade soup that I blended in the vitamix, popsicles, jello, water, decaf iced tea, water and water. I also did have some chicken broth (actually I had the picante chicken ramen noodle flavor packet without using the noodles).

Hey, no fair!! Where are the fashion parade photos? Let us check out these duds for ourselves!

You will start pooping once you get something in your body that can be pooped out. A whole popsicle is not that much liquid, really, and it is like ice chips, you can have quite a few of those and not get sick. The liquid for the GI thing is just nasty and if you had to do three sips, that was probably enough to send you over the edge. I don't know about the shortness of breath. I didn't need anything around my stomach (and believe me, it's droopy). I didn't have incision pain, just itch.

It is also possible that you have lost enough weight in your face that your mask is no longer fitting you properly. Have you tried adjusting it? Ultimately, a new sleep study would be the way to go, but you might be able to play around with the mask and get it to fit better and if your machine can be changed as far as pressure, then you might try what Hubie said.

5 months pregnant- Swimsuit pic NSV of sorts
Griselda replied to Tiffykins's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
If I saw that pic or walked by you I don't think I would think anything but 'damn skinny b***h, she's pregnant and look at her'' I can't tell from these pics any sagginess or any tell tale signs of rapid weight loss. -
NSV I guess, hell it is!!!!
Griselda replied to LESLIEH's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You look fabulous, please tell me what exercises (if any) you have done, you look very toned to me. Also what is your typical food menu week? I want to learn from such a success!!! -
My breast cancer surgery is tomorrow
Griselda replied to disp4so's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I will be thinking of you, Sherri!! Hope everything turns out well! -
I've always had a huge 'neck and chin' area, tons of fat around there, well, I know i am only two weeks post op, but a lot of that fat is coming off, but the skin is still there, so it almost looks worse than when it was filled with fat. Can I expect any kind of tightening on this as I go along? I'm 42, btw. I don't expect it to be super taut, or anything, and I realize that ultimately I will probably want some sort of neck lift, but does it get better somewhat over time?

Drinking after meals...can I??
Griselda replied to decamom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can, but shouldnt. A few small sips if your mouth is dry are okay. Anymore than that and one of two things happen, imagine your food sitting happily at bottom of stomach. In comes a gush of liquid, either the liquid wont go through like a clogged drain and you will back up (vomit), or, the liquid will help push your food down the "drain" and you no longer have that satisfied full feeling. Now you are hungry or you have thrown up your food. Either way, not a good outcome. -
Questions 6 days out from sleeve
Griselda replied to Neanie in Texas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the rumbling and had the loose stools of tiny quantities, almost felt like it wasnt eorth going for such small amount. Once i got on protein drinks, i had more to go on, as it were. Daydreamer, when you see dumping on this forum it is usually referring to dumping syndrome which is rarer in vsg, but can happen. It is when your food suddenly gets to where its going and your body goes into a little shock, this csn cause chills, pain. Etc. -
For those of you 3 months or more out...
Griselda replied to Ready4aNewLife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Whoa, I read that bit as making love with him three times a day (not the protein shakes three times a day). I thought, man, talk about exercise!! -
Wow!! You look great!!! That's a fabulous loss in just 4 months.

Most common complications?
Griselda replied to Golden's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Other complications could be infections in the incisions or seromas. I haven't had that, but didn't see it listed. Golden, what was the cause of the bleeding?
