NSV...Stretchy Leggings in...Gasp PUBLIC
apple-saucy posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
So I wore some stretchy capri length leggings out of the house to go to our little local grocery store last night. I had on a shirt that used to be tight on me but is now tunic length or looks like a maternity shirt now (LOL) so my rear end had full coverage...but I wore LEGGINGS OUT OF THE HOUSE! -

Day 8 so so tired
apple-saucy replied to losingwait's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah you're probably a tad dehydrated hun. Drink your shakes 3x's a day and sip sip sip in between It will feel like you are doing something but drinking, but that's what you need to do right now. I set a goal for myself in the early days. I would drink 8oz of water before Breakfast, 20 oz before lunch 20oz before dinner, and 20 oz before bed. And if I had room/time I'd "snack" on extra calories and Protein. in between That way I almost always had 68oz of water in me per day often times more than that. -
Day 8 so so tired
apple-saucy replied to losingwait's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can do it Honest!!! I was supposed to keep my Water count seperate from my food count as far as ounces. So wondering if maybe you might be getting a bit dehydrated and not realizing it? That can contribute to feeling sluggish and tired. How much actual straight up water are you drinking per day? -
When can we stop sipping?
apple-saucy replied to Alexander's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have no idea how much your post just made me feel better. And this isn't even my thread! I am a heavy consumer of h20 but I used to drink it 16oz at a time every couple of hours (getting in 140-180oz per day easy) and this swallow wait swallow wait nonsense is annoying me! -
Loss, stall, loss, stall

I tend to stair step too it's frustrating and annoying and anger inducing. But the weight is coming off (seemingly) slowly but surely. -
Having a bit of a set back...:-(
apple-saucy posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sunday morning around 1am I was awakened by violent body shaking chills and pain in my lower back. Hubby had fallen asleep downstairs staring at his Father's Day gift (26 in flat screen ) It took me 10 minutes to get to him for help. He tucked me into the guest room with heating pad blankets and the max dose of Motrin. I was able to go back to sleep after about an hour, but it all started again when the Motrin wore off around 7am. By 10 we decided to load up the kids and head to urgent care. Where I was dx'd with a Kidney infection and given an dose of IV antibiotics and a litre of fluids. By the time I left there 2 hours later I feel like I'd been run over by a truck but at least wasn't shaking uncontrollably. Got home slept for 5 hours, then ate 4 chicken nuggets and some green Beans (first food of the day) the rest of the evening was spent sucking on freezer pops (4 of them!) I felt some weird tightness in my chest but wrote it off as anxiety from the day. Yesterday the chest tightness was still there coming and going but definitely worse as it got closer to time for Motrin. So I called my family doctor who told me to go to the ER called Hubby home from work and went. They did a chest x[ray that came back clear, and some blood work. One of the values came back elevated which could indicate a blood clot. So I had a CT scan with contrast. That came back clear as well. Diagnosis is "Inflammaton of the chest wall Secondary to Kidney Infection" Doctor said it could be that everything is a little "off" internally due to the infection, or that my 24 hours of on and off violent shivers irritated the muscles and tissues so much that they are revolting. Either way I'm on 800 of motrin for the next 2 days then 600 of motrin following for up to 10 days along with 10 days of Cipro for the kidney infection. I've eaten like doo doo the last two days. Freezer pops and 4 chicken nuggets on Sunday, and 2 slimfast bars and 3 string cheeses yesterday. Today doesn't look much better, just had a freezer pop for Breakfast because nothing else sounded good. :-( Might try some greek yogurt later. The infection induced nausea sucks. -

I'm using Liquid filled capsuled. The ER doctor sounds like an idiot. I walked myself from the parking lot, into the ER sat on a table got examined and only after the fever reducer I had taken earlier in the morning started to wear off did I need to lay down because the body shaking chills came back. Kidney infections can turn deadly quickly they aren't something to mess around with. -

after the first 2wks it's fine to take motrin/ibuprofen. The risk is much higher for those who have stoma's (artificial opening to their intestine/lower stomach) such as those with a band or RnY because the pill will sit there and irritate the lining. With a sleeve the motrin just passes on through the pyloric valve like normal. I'm feeling a little bit better right now. took the motrin and tylenol together (totally safe) and have gotten a good 2 hours of relief from all pain (the motrin was only kicking about half of it) Hopefully I'll feel even better tomorrow. Spent about 85-90% of today in bed. -
aren't these just shiritaki noodles? I find them pretty cheaply at my local grocery store in the TOFU and Meatless area of the Produce department.

Saw something in the mirror that I haven't seen in a LONG TIME
apple-saucy posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My FIGURE! I saw my figure in the mirror this morning. My waist is appearing My legs look slimmer too. :-D I think I'm going to go bra shopping this weekend because all my bras are lose and non supportive LOL. I had forgotten that I have an hourglass figure...can't wait to see it come more into view. 108lbs to go! -
When did you start eating cheese?
apple-saucy replied to Golden's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My guidelines were "finely shredded cheese can be sprinkled on top of food for added flavor and Protein content" And that was at the 2wk post op stage. Oh the Laughing cow cheese I find in the Deli section rather than with the rest of the cheeses...you know where they keep the "expensive" cheese like Brie and Goat cheese -
They also can't call it a cure because frankly it's NOT a cure for everyone. AND not all Type 2 Diabetics are overweight. My Step Mom weighs all of 120lbs and is a type 2 diabetic. So it wouldn't be an appropriate treatment for her at all.

I am not my hair. BUT...
apple-saucy replied to Pagie's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Mine started falling out right away and has slowed down significantly I am 8wks post op. I figure it's about the same amount as I lost after all 4 of my pregnancies the great "hormone dump shed" -
Keep in mind though that there really isn't a lot of research IRT the Sleeve yet. So it may turn out that all the types of surgery are comparable WRT curing type 2 diabetes

How did your kids handle the change(s) in you?
apple-saucy replied to treequeen's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My First thought is...Does he have an anxiety disorder or Aspergers? His reaction doesn't seem normal. (I ask because 2 out of 4 of my kids are on the Spectrum my oldest has Aspergers and ADHD w/ severe anxiety issues, and my 2nd has Autism and is basically Mr. Oblivious but big changes freak him out) My Second thought is in a couple of years he may not even remember that you were once heavy. It really sounds like he's having trouble with the changes taking place...He may need someone to talk to about his feelings as his world is changing a lot in a relatively short amount of time. -
When I got pregnant with my first child (10yrs ago next month ) I weighed 297lbs. I haven't seen that weight since. This morning I weigh 298.6lbs I am officially out of the 300's and will NEVER return there again. I AM THRILLED! I am BEYOND Thrilled!! If I didn't fear breaking or spraining something I'd probably turn a cartwheel

Am I eating too much?
apple-saucy replied to mrhyne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Surgeon's goal is to get me to STOP thinking about what I eat. He says he doesn't think/obsess about what he's eating (he's thin) His main thing is to get me to think about ACTIVITY Moving and being active and participating in life. -
I too was on 80units of Insulin at bedtime, and 2000mg of Metformin (1000 am 1000 pm) before surgery. I haven't taken anything since the night before surgery. :-D

what will day 1 post op feel like?
apple-saucy replied to pyt1908's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well between hitting the morphine pump button you'll feel like you just got run over by a very sharp and pointy Mack truck. And then the morphine will kick in and you won't care anymore. -
So I stalled at 1 week and now I seem to be stalled again. I had gotten down to 303.something for a day and now I'm back up to 304.6 and have been hovering near there for a week now. Where is my Honeymoon phase??

One would think I could see it. And I can in my face...sometimes. But I can't tell in my body...I keep asking Hubby "Is my body changing? Am I really losing weight??" I think he's getting sick of my obsession. I went down 1 size (barely) in shirts....the seat of my pants in baggy but still fits around the waist (and is a bit snug actually) I thought that after losing a good amount of weight I'd feel better about myself, and about how I look (which is odd because I totally did this for my health and not for my looks ) I am just not seeing enough change... I also feel like my weight in crawling off and I want it to FLY off. That may be an unrealistic dream. I don't know. I started out in a TIGHT size 26. I might be able to wear a 24, I haven't really tried that size yet. I'm squeezing into 2x tops because...well I don't know...maybe I think if I WILL it it won't look like I'm a sausage ready for the grill? I only have 1 bra that still fits...it's black...I wore a white T-shirt to church today Hubby dug through a drawer this afternoon and found 2 more bras that were too tight 6 months ago but now they fit ok...they are also black...and one of them makes me look like my boobs are attached to my chin. My dress shoes fit better today...guess that's good, I've lost weight in my feet. I betcha no one's ever paid attention to my feet...except the people who get the unpleasant job of fixing them up and shaving callouses off after I've neglected them for months. So I have gone down 1 size in bras...and 1 size in shirts so long as I don't plan to inhale exhale or otherwise move. I could claim that my jeans are "Hammer Pants" But my feet look totally skinny and Hot!

Discouraged and disappointed
apple-saucy replied to apple-saucy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think this is it exactly...a little change everywhere and non of it dramatic. I lose in my face feet and hands first apparently. -
So I can eat fresh veggies now! WHOOT!!! Yesterday I had the most divine broccoli salad in the history of broccoli salads(broccoli, sunflower seeds, red onions, dried cranberries, low cal honey mustard) Today I made myself a taco using 2 romaine lettuce leaves as the "tortilla" (btw if you're looking for an inexpensive way to get some Fiber and stretch a tiny amount of meat throw some cooked lentils into your taco meat it's AWESOME worked out to be about 1gr of fiber per TB of Lentils) Anyway I don't know if I ate too fast or if the lettuce just wasn't agreeable but it all came up in a violent fashion. So maybe I'll wait on the raw leafies and eat some more crunchy salads
