    Amazing

I went to GNC and got their 100% whey Protein Isolate Unflavored variety I think it's the Pro-series...Large red labeled container. It is unflavored...but still has a taste...make sense? It will make your chicken broth into Creamy chicken soup...but it won't change the flavor of foods too drastically. I want to get a container of unjury Chicken soup when I go for my post op on Monday.

    Massage

I don't know...The only experience of surgery I've had prior to being sleeved was c-sections...and definitely would not have been able to handle tummy laying 1 month out. I'm guessing though since these incisions are smaller and spaced out it might be easier. I guess wait and see.
  3. I'm 4 days out from surgery and have this weird pain...like I have an air bubble stuck, it's essensially right between my boobs where that tiny little incision is...but more in my stomach/throat but not...does that make any sense at all? Is this just me healing (noticing other minor pains since the major ones are more tolerable now) or should I be calling my Dr.?
  4. I'm sure good ol MJ didn't help you keep your weight down at all...why would you invite her back into your life knowing that she makes you want to eat...and eat junk at that (I was the go getter in highschool...I'd take the orders and the money and get people's crazy cravings and not one person ever ordered up carrot sticks!)

4 days out and WEIRD PAIN

It was gas...1 gas ex strip and a couple gulps and 1 giant belch later...all better. I couldn't tolerate pepcid in the hospital given via IV within minutes it was like my saliva glands were trying to drown me (literally shooting streams of saliva out!) and I would get incredibly nauseous...so not eager to try any other acid reducers.
  6. So I was sleeved on last friday this is my first full day home. I've been awake for about 6ish hours and have gotten in almost 32oz of Water (go me!) Plus an 8oz Protein drink, my lunch is warming up now (potato Soup w/ protein powder) I just ate a popscilcel and it occured to me. Do I count that as food or fluids? And how much fluids? Thanks. I thought I would feel incredibly different like something was missing after surgery but I feel pretty normal other than the occasional painful air bubble from not waiting for a sip of water to settle before taking another sip. And the surgical pains...
  7. Anything that passes through a seive is considered a full liquid...so yeah it passed through the sieve it's allowed.
  8. I got home earlier today after being sleeved by Dr. Kemmerling @ Aurora Bay Care Medical Center. I have nothing but positives to say about the whole experience. (Well maybe not about the IV's as my arms look like purple pincushions atm ) The Pre-op stuff was smooth sailing all except for the difficulty getting IV's they eventually got one that they knew wouldn't stay but was good enough to send me off to sleep. I also got a massage while waiting for my OR time slot which was pretty awesome, and very helpful to help me relax. I don't remember too much from recovery other than I kept forgetting to breathe so someone was right there in my face telling me to breathe for I don't know how long. I was kind of paniced. and ouchie but someone was always there helping me. I slept essentially all of the first 24 hours. The nurses were great. NOthing but positive reviews for the hospital and staff. Even the dietary aide was awesome, very encouraging and congratulating me on making such a hard decision to have this surgery.. The Resp. Therapists too were very encouraging. Anyway I'm home, I can get down about 6oz of an 8oz Protein drink right now, drinking Water alright too.
  9. I feel nauseous not sure if that's from not eating/drinking anything or if It's because I am NOT freaking out. On a related note...yesterday Morning I was 5lbs heavier.. So I'm down a full 20lbs pre-op now.

    I'm scared

I'm scared of the pain...I've had surgery before I remember the pain. I'm scared of feeling thirsty and not being able to drink (I am a heavy consumer of the H2O ) I'm scared that I won't be able to sleep for the majority of the first day like I would want to...if only to avoid the unpleasant first day discomforts. I'm scared that I will have flashbacks to my last OR experience (treated worse than an animal while in hard labor with my 4th child...eventually knocked out after berated and ridiculed for not staying completely still during pushing contractions) Scared of taking any anti-anxiety meds for fear that I will get waterfall mouth and just sound like an idiot.. Scared of changing my life Scared of losing my society buffer, Scared of the lose hanging skin, scared that this surgery won't be the tool that finally helps me lose weight. Scared that I'll screw it up. Scared that I won't be able to resist the sugar monster in me that craves sweets of any kind. Scared that I'll have a complication, Scared that I'll leak, Scared that while in there they will find my insides riddled with tumors, Scared that I'll die, Scared that I'll need a blood transfusion, Scared that they will be mean to me, Scared that my dreams will never come true. Scared... This is normal stuff right?

    My Pre Op Diet

Was the food included in the total cost of your surgery or did you have to pay extra for it?

    My Pre Op Diet

Oh Also look into Protein Water The one I've been drinking is the Muscle Milk brand 60calories and 10grams of protein zero sugar.

    My Pre Op Diet

So I just punched in a sample diet into Sparks people....here's what I came up with. Breakfast 3 egg whites w/ 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese lunch 3 ounces skinless chicken breast 1 cup of salad (no dressing but you could add a small amount) dinner 1 4oz ground turkey burger (no bun) 1/2 cup of baked potato 1 cup of green Beans That alone is 546 calories. And 68 grams of Protein. If you add in 2 100 calorie Protein shakes that have at least 15grams of protein each you'll catch your minimum protein without going over your daily calories. I don't know what protein source you're using but I found a ready made drink called ZOIC that is 100cal and 15 grams of protein that tastes decent. HTH

    offically hit 50lbs down!

I'm 5ft 10 with a large heavy bone structure (seriously my head is off the charts LOL!) I'm having surgery on Friday and am wondering how low to go. I mean I was always a curvy girl (now I'm just lumpy) I was extremely active at 190lbs and think thats an Ok place for me to shoot for even though the charts say My top weight should be 178lbs. LOL Anyway I'm interested in how you do on this adventure to see if I end up being "normal" for a larger woman. OO and I just noticed that we are the same age (well I'm 5months older than you)
  15. I will be taken into the OR and have most of my stomach removed. Am I crazy? What should I expect from the surgery prep?

    H. Pylori Bacteria

Those are some heavy duty antibx be sure that you're either eating a lot of yogurt or taking acidophilus or other pro-biotics so your lower digestive tract isn't stripped completely of all bacteria.
  17. Hey Honey, While I was in California I decided to jump the border and donate 85% of my stomach to the study and prevention of obesity....so thats why I have incisions and am eating differently.
  18. I have had friends offer to make freezer meals for me which I accepted and will be picking up on Thursday (day before surgery) I also bought some things that I know my 4 kids and hubby will like but I absolutely will not eat ever (Hamburger helper blech) I have made 3 different types of soup (then blended and strained them) and frozen them in ice cube trays then transfered the cubes to freezer bags so I have a quick meal should I feel the need to make a hasty retreat from the kitchen.
  19. I think I'm just not going to step on a scale for the first month out LOL Then I won't be obsessing about the 1wk 2 wk 3 wk stalls I may experience I'll just b e like WOO HOO I lost 5lbs (or whatever)
  20. I have 2 more days before surgery (Friday Morning 8am!) EEEP. I'm freaking out a little more every day. Which I assume is 100%normal right? On to the TMI (AVERT YOUR EYES SQUEEMISH PEOPLE!) Elemental Iron has always given my digestive system fits...as in I have needed large quantities of laxatives after consuming it. Every single shake I have looked at or tried has 20% of the daily value of Iron in it in the form of Ferrous Sulfate which is bad when you're drinking 3-5of them a day. I know I haven't been eating anything solid for 5 days now which may be what is the majority of the problem, but I feel like I need to go...and can't! Or only go a very small amount. I'm not looking forward to the potential for straining post surgery (btdt w/ c-sections...NOT PLEASANT!!!!) gah I don;t even know what I'm asking....LOL I need advice I guess.

Why do I have this job?

As sole proprietor I have always felt it my "duty" to make sure my cupcakes and icings tasted good LOL. Guess I'll just have to trust my brain and bakers intuition now eh?

I showed my significant other this site!!

We'll always have PCOS, but the reduction in body weight means a reduction in insulin resistance. It may make conception easier for you, or it may be no change. I am one of the lucky few who has not suffered infertility...just weird cycles, multiple miscarriages(4 full term pregnancies in there too), weight gain since puberty, and some of the other less than feminine side effects.
