What I had for Lunch
Michelle Cicerello replied to Michelle Cicerello's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awww thanks for worrying about me Meggie, but Yep, Really toasted breads and tortilla's are on my lists for days 21-42 - I can even have Crackers - Nut says that if you dont toast the breads they do ball up in your stomach and you wont be able to digest them, but if you toast them really well, so they crunch when you bite into them then chew chew chew, they turn into really fine pieces and just go away and wont just sit in your stomach. I have found just by reading here, that every plan is different, and everyone seems to be ok on what thier Dr tells them to do - I guess its also different for each person, what one person can handle, the other may not be able to - Oh BTW - the flat bread I used today, was really thin, and when it went under the broiler it because really crunchy and basically was chewed into dust before swallowing Luv Ya Meggie -

My plan states that I can have really toasted bread or tortilla, so I go with a low carb Tortilla and toast it really well and only eat half of it, I can have lean ground beef/chicken, scrambled eggs, Mashed potatoes, any soft cooked vegetable except Asparagas, Celery, Peas, Corn. As long as its mushy its all good - I didnt have to do any pureed foods at all and my Nut says that to measure a 1/2 c of food to start, you may be able to eat more or less, it depends on the person. This emotional stuff is driving me nuts, I never know when it is going to hit either, and I dont like that.... I will have to go and read up on the Ketosis - sounds interesting. I have been setting up my pool all day, I wanted one so I could get in every night and exercise in the Water, and just plain cool down, its been HOT here in TX, it was 102 on Friday... -

Michelle Cicerello replied to kellyw74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I hate it too, it was such a mess .... UGHHH oh well My hubby and I were talking today, that my swelling must be down alot because I am able to eat more then I was a week ago - Do you know how much we are suppose to be eating once we are fully healed? is there a set limit or? I try to error on the side of caution, because I am still learning what full is.... Oh, what would I do with you you guys??? -

Michelle Cicerello replied to kellyw74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I would definatly eat 4 times that amount in one sitting - I know I am probably doing just fine, but let me tell ya, since Friday, I have been an emotional wreck - On friday, I was so overwhelmed with the amount of work i had (nothing was done like it was suppose to be the 3 weeks I was out) that all I did was cry, there was no stopping it, and I have been emotional all weekend - I am sure it has something to do with all the hormones being released, and all that, but man, this is exhausting.... I have noticed in the last 3 days or so, that I am able to eat a bit more then I was able to at first - at first I was lucky if I got in 500 Calories a day - I just worry that I am going to mess this up - and I am usually an upbeat positive person, so I am unsure where this is coming from and hope it goes away soon Thanks for listening to me rant -

Well, when its all said and done, My hubby makes a full tortilla and wraps it like a buritto and cuts it in half - so all in all it really isnt any more then a half a cup of food - those low carb, whole wheat tortillas are really thin - Its only been since the end of this week that I am finding that I can eat more - I dont know if that is good, or what, but Still, half of a buritto and being totally full is a major difference from before surgery. I always worry though, that I am doing this wrong and I am messing this up and will NEVER loose the weight, in fact yesterday I started crying because I was sure I was failing Hmmmm -

Thank, I will look into the Fat secret and log my food - now you said Carbs minus fiber? is that literal like you add up your carbs and then the fiber and then subtract, or?? Thanks Meggie for your input -

I have a questions - How many Carbs should you keep it to a day?? I am no sugar that is going well, but I am unsure of the Carbs - I am finding that carbs are in just about everything!!!! HELP -
Yes, ask your Dr. I was retaining Water and asked my Surgeon about it and they had me start taking a prescription water pill - But please ask your Dr first.

First day back to work
Michelle Cicerello replied to Michelle Cicerello's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took 3 weeks off, and did pretty good, but today I had to come home early because I was shaky and a bit dizzy, and just plain tired!! Maybe I am overdoing it, maybe I am not getting in enough food, Protein, whatever... I dunno, but I came home took off the workclothes, put on a cool sun dress and now I am eating dry tuna on some Triscuit thin Garlic Parm Crackers... It is YUMMO - Before this surgery, you would not catch me ever eating dry tuna, but now, I LOVE it!! Go figure... -

First day back to work
Michelle Cicerello replied to Michelle Cicerello's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was thinking about working half a days, but I havent yet, and I do take an hour lunch and just take it easy, and I make sure to take my breaks, but I usually Walk quite a bit to get my exercise in.... I know it will take a bit but I will get use to it soon -
ok, so I went to GNC yesterday and returned the Protein powder I had as I cant STAND Protein drinks, the guy that was there asked if I had tried this other powder and when I said no he asked if I would be willing to taste a sample of it that he had made up that morning - reluctantly I said yes, as I knew I would hate it ~ Surprise, surprise - it was actually good, not tolerable, GOOD! It tastes like cold hot chocolate and you put 3 scoops in 12 oz of Water and it gives you 60 Grams of protein!! YAY!!! Its AMP Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60 in the chocolate - If you all are having trouble with protein, like I was, I wasnt really getting much in because I couldnt stand any of it, try this out - go to GNC, ask to have a sample of it, and just try it If you have any other questions, please let me know

3 weeks post op- Ode to an egg!
Michelle Cicerello replied to meggiep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay Meggie, I am glad you had your egg and it went down fine!!! They are just devine arnt they? lol I try to stop eating quicker then I probably should, there have been a few times where I ate until I either burped or huccup'ed and then I knew it was time to stop - it still hard for me to know that I am full, because I really dont get that OMG I am so full feeling, I am just getting to where I know the amount of food that eat at a given time and just go with it - Dont worry about the stall, I had that too, and its probably Water retention and your body just catching up with itself, take in more water/fluids and keep doing what your doing and you will get through it -

3 weeks post op
Michelle Cicerello replied to Michelle Cicerello's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much for your reply - I can totally relate, I think I will just hold my head up high and who knows, maybe when I get to work tomorrow, it wont be anything like I was expecting.... I also hope that one day I can say - "I am laying on the beach in Hawaii with my Purple polka dot bikini" LOL WOOT WOOT Thanks again for your post, it really made me feel better -
So, today is 3 weeks post op for me, I feel great, the weight is coming off, I am dealing well with mushies, but I have one concern..... I go back to work tomorrow and I am not worried about not having energy, or not feeling well, I am worried about people gawking at me - I know some people are going to want to see me and all that and ohhhh and ahhhhh over me, but its just the thought of certain people coming over and looking me up and down, I just really dont like the thought of that.... People who I really dont know well and are just coming over to see what the "freak show" is all about - I Know I shouldnt worry, most people will and are very excited for me and just want to see how well I have done, but I just have this worry that I am being put on display for all to see and critique... Has anyone else felt like that?

3 Weeks Post Op and Not Just a Stall...
Michelle Cicerello replied to susnl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, this happened to me as well, and it is Water retention, and you will loose it, promise - I was frustrated too, and my Dr said to take in more fluids, and eat more Protein - I will be weighing myself this morning and will see if it has helped. Dont get frustrated, your body does have to even out, that is why my DR made me promise to not weigh myself every other day like I was and only weigh once a week, he said that during a weeks time you may loose, you may gain because of water, if you weigh every other day, you will see the gain and be frustrated, if you keep it to once a week, you will probably have lost all that you gained... Hope that makes sense... Good luck, it will all even out -
