In 2007 weighing nearly 300lbs after the birth of my first child I decided to have the LapBand at Lahey Medical in Boston, MA by Dr. Nepomnashay using Harvard Pilgrim Insurance. Surgery went well and I slowly lost 80 lbs and stalled until I started having complications in 2011. In the summer of 2011 I was hospitalized for dehydration and low potassium. September 2012 I had a major slip that almost strangulated my stomach and would have caused death. Dr. Byrnes at MUSC in Charleston, SC was my surgeon and the program seems to be a really great one. I would love to convert to the VSG but I'm currently only on Tricare and the VSG is not covered.
I have once again realize that I cannot lose weight or keep it off without the help of surgery. I've gained nearly 80lbs of the 140 I took off. I'm currently researching Military Treatment Facilities in hopes that there is a great surgeon that can help me.
