  1. 2 weeks ago today I had my pre-op endoscopy and the Dr. found that I had a "submucosal lesion in the lower antrum of the stomach". Last Friday I had an EUS (an endoscopy with ultrasound) and FNA (needle biopsy). The nurse called yesterday and said I have a benign cyst on my pancreas. I'm not sure that it's just one....I didn't know to ask what kind of cyst (apparently there are several kinds)....I thought that benign/malignant was all I needed to worry about! I've since researched a bit and now want to talk to the Dr.....but he didn't return my call today which really irritated me, lol. I couldn't reach my WLS Dr. either, so now I don't know if I have a cyst(s) that is benign now but could turn malignant in the future (certain types can!) if this affects my WLS I was hoping to have in late June/early July, if I *should* think twice about having it now, etc. and I have to get through the weekend wondering! Very irritating. I know I should be thankful that it's not cancer now, that the pre-op testing found something early that maybe could have just been growing in me for years before discovery (I had no real symptoms, nothing that warranted a visit to the dr....however I have had slight swelling on my right side and I have had some quick flashes of pain on rare occasions that now make sense....I had attributed it to a fatty liver or gallbladder issues after reading here! lol. so much for self-diagnosing I'm just venting since I have to go through the weekend with no answers. I guess I am curious also, has anyone else had cysts on their pancreas and had VSG? I will talk to both the WLS and gastro Dr. on Monday so I'll have answers soon....but it's going to be a long weekend. the nurse said for now they will just "watch" my cyst(s), baring any issues that means yearly EUS's which was not as easy as the endoscopy. not looking forward to that! 5 weeks post op - 18 years old

Congratulations! You are doing great! for lots of recipes you can go to http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com - shelly had rny surgery 6 yrs ago and has a wealth of info, suggested products, WLS friendly yummy recipes and MORE! I love reading her blog, she's a great source of info and inspiration. for your tomato sauce cravings, here is a WLS recipe from Shelly that should help with your craving : Shelly's Baked Ricotta 8 oz of Ricotta cheese 1/2 cup grated Parmesan 1 large Egg, beaten 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning salt & pepper to taste 1/2 cup Marinara Sauce 1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella Cheese Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in a oven proof dish. Pour marinara on top and top with mozzarella cheese. Bake it in the oven @ 450 for about 20-25 minutes (best) or nuke it till hot and bubbly. I usually made it first in the oven and heated the leftovers in the microwave.
  3. perhaps your surgeon can refer you to a psych? I got referalls to my nut, psych and a PCP (we moved, so I didn't have one here) from my surgeon's office, and have been very happy with all of them as they are all supportive of my having WLS. I have a BMI of 50, so they should be! I doubt my old PCP would have been. good luck!
  4. I just received approval from my insurance co. today; I need to get an endoscopy, blood work and an abdominal ultrasound completed before the pt. coordinator can schedule me for surgery. I'd like to take a week off to recover from the actual surgery, so I am interested in conserving my vacation/sick days - i was wondering if the endoscopy is something I could reasonably do 1st thing in the morning, then go to work the rest of the day? I won't have to drive (a coworker can buzz over and pick me up, it's close to my office). I have a desk job that requires I be creative, but not every second of every day, lol...... Obviously I've never had an endoscopy before I get 2 weeks vacation so I could take the day off if needed, but want to save some for later so the "new me" can enjoy a vacation without being exhausted each day of it! Thanks, Lori
  5. thanks everyone! I'll take the day off for sure now. lori
  6. Just an FYI in case anyone else searches (like I did). I was approved in 1 week. Pt. Coordinator from surgeon's office called with the news (haven't had any contact with insurance company) Had to submit PCP's letter of medical necessity and 5 yrs of drs visit recording of weight, plus a form letter (supplied by surgeon) with a list of the diets I had previously tried and note how my weight was adversely affecting my life. I have a BMI of 50, and comorbidities of high blood pressure & joint pain (knees/feet) Good Luck! Lori

    My Surgery So Far.

Wow Rachel, I am glad you are ok now....how scary though. Did the Dr. explain why this happened, or do they know? I am hoping to be sleeved this month, but I am a little nervous! You seem to have bounced back from it quickly and are well on your way to successfully losing! congrats loris
